Apartment Troubles

If you are looking to rent an apartment in Owensboro, I recommend avoiding Keystone Apartments. I know several people who have lived or are currently living there. When I started looking for places to move to, they were my first choice because of all my friends, but I asked how they liked it, and they pretty much told me to run. The lease terms are very vague, and they require a 60-day notice to move. One of my friends showed me documents of him having to contact the gas company because the managers tried to say that there was nothing wrong but turns out he had a gas leak. They also make it extremely hard to move out. I had another friend who unexpectedly had to move out due to family issues after living there for several months, and they required them to pay the rest of the year's rent up front. They also tried to say that there was damage and there wasn't. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm trying to keep my options open, but what I've been told doesn't sound so great.

The Remnants of Owensboro Towne Square Mall in Kentucky [Photos Taken May 11 2026] [OC]

This mall spent quite some time dying and finally closed a couple of years ago. I'm happy to see this building reused instead of being torn down like so many other dead malls.

Similar to KYOVA Tri State Mall in Ashland, the central area of the mall has been taken over by a ripoff Malibu Jack's. The massive old Sears space is being used by a landscaping company, and a Planet Fitness is adjacent to the main interior. The only major vacant space is the old JCPenney.

My photos start off by showing the remnants of Sears, then the remnants of the mall interior, then the front exterior, and finally, the single photo I have of the original mall interior while it was still a mall.

Warning about a contractor

Just wanted to warn anybody that reads this about a man named Jason Robinson. His current contracting company is Titan LLC, their website is titanupky.com.

Jason has been a nightmare to work with. He gave an estimate on knob and tube wiring in our attic for $2820 and 6 hours of work. He showed up late Monday when he said he would be early to beat the heat in the attic. He didn't finish Monday (5/11) and left a mess, said he would be back early Tuesday to finish. Showed up late again, didn't finish again, but all he had to do was reconnect the lights in the rooms. Said he would be back Wednesday (5/13) to finish. I *stupidly* gave him the check early, but we made a contract and both signed it that said he would finish the job, detailing the remaining work. He didn't show up at all of course and said he would be back 5/14. He constantly told us to find someone else. On 5/14 he showed up at noon AGAIN, still didn't finish, left holes in the walls and 4 lights still aren't working, and now he ghosted. We will be pursuing legal action for the cost of the remaining work, since he signed an agreement. Please avoid this man Jason Robinson out of Morganfield KY
