PACS Comparable Costs

The radiology group I work for is interested in switching to a different PACS system. Our group does over 160,000 studies annually and we are currently paying $3 per study. What are you paying for your PACS?

Help Needed to convert .mp4/.MOV/DVD formate Echos to DICOM file that preserves the video.

Hello All. I am a lowly medical assistant in serious need of help. So i'm here on reddit to ask for it. I know nothing about DICOM. But my practice needs to re-certify our echos and they only accept DICOM. So this complicated task that none of us understand has fallen to me. The echo machine is from the 90s. I have all four accreditation echos saved as both .mp4 and .MOV.

Can someone kindly walk me through step-by-step how to transfer my .mp4 or .MOV echo files to a DICOM that preserves the video. The echos have to be moving when opened in a DICOM viewer.

I have no clue how to even begin doing it, so easy to understand, detailed instructions with what software to purchase that are novice friendly would be prefer and so beyond appreciated!

Thank you to anyone who can help or comments!

getting into the field as a tech that’s also a super user

hi everyone.

i’m very interested in becoming a PACS admin and finding a job in that field, but am kind of unsure where to look and what my qualifications need to look like. i have 5 years experience as an x-ray tech and am a PACS super user at my current job. i’m just wondering what my next steps are to finding a job or if i need to continue any education or do any programs first.

i’m sure this question comes up often so thank you for taking the time to read this and any help you may be able to provide me

Advice on converting VOB, MOV, or Mp4 Files to DICOM.

Hey there. My practice relies on an old echo machine from the 90s. We're trying to get re-certified. How do I convert existing video format files to DICOM?

PACS job

I’m a registered X-ray tech with 23 years full time experience working in a hospital setting. All at the same facility. I have zero IT certifications or experience besides working in the clinical side of PACS and our EMR was Epic for that time. I would like to transition into work from home position possibly as a PACS support analyst or EMR support. What would be the path to obtain a job like this with no IT degree/experience?

Trying to get a new job with only 8 months of experience

I worked for 8 months as a PACS admin at a mammography center. This was my first real IT job after graduating with my bachelors in CS, and I was super lucky that my mom who is a mammogram tech helped me get the job because she worked there. I learned about DICOM functions, RIS systems, EHR, and did a bunch of network trouble shooting. During that 8 months I worked with about 30 different doctor’s offices. Then the company I worked at closed so now I’m back on the job search. I’ve managed to get 2 interviews for support analyst roles where I made it to the final round, and I was able to answer all the questions pretty easily but i wasn’t able to get any offers unfortunately. I feel like most companies are looking for 2+ years of experience so I really wish the company I worked at didn’t close so fast after I got hired. What do you guys recommend I do? I was thinking about trying to get into the position of being the person who physically fixes imaging machines but not sure how to go about that and how the job market is for that field of work.

SIIM or RSNA?

Which conference is better? SIIM or RSNA? I feel like vendors reference RSNA more, but with AI on the rise SIIM may have more applicable lectures. Are you guys attending either one of them?
