Rule Review - Rule 3 and other suggestions

Hi everyone!

The mod team is currently reviewing rule 3 - no generative ai. The way the rule is currently worded prohibits generative AI “content”, but allows for assistive text based ai such as grammarly. However we see that content isn’t properly defined in this instance, which can cause confusion over what is and isn’t allowed.

So we can moderate this consistently, we wanted to ask the community for their opinions, so we can ensure fair moderation for all users.

Regarding rule 3, I’d like to pose the following questions.

  1. To what extent should we prohibit AI? Entirely AI generated videos, audio, images and text remain strictly prohibited, however we see that human made content that is modified by ai in some way can fall into a grey area. For example, a human made image, but ai modified the colours on it.

  2. There are editing tools that use ai to some degree that don’t generate new content, such as background removers (for example, you take a picture of your action figures, but use apples ai background remover tool to remove the background), editing templates (like CapCut) and image enhancers. Should these be allowed or should they be restricted?

If you have any further thoughts or questions on this, please comment below.

We are also open to other rule suggestions as well which we may implement or trial. If you have any suggestions as well, please comment these below and we may consider these.

Thank you :)

History of Lucky Seven in my AU

Year Constructed: 2015.

Country: Australia.

Mark: 1.

Pilots: Hercules & Scott Hansen (formerly); Gunnar Jensen & Hale Caeser (currently).

Status: Sole remaining active Mark-1 Jaeger (as of 2027).

Weapons: Shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, Arm-Blades, Energy Spears, Experimental PlasmaCasters.

Kaiju Kills: 4.

Constructed in Australia and launched on December 7 as the last of the Mark-1 Jaegers, Lucky Seven was the first Jaeger assignment given to former RAAF pilot, Hercules Hansen and his younger brother, Scott, during the Jaeger Program's earliest tenure. Alongside Tango Tasmania, Lucky was one of 2 Mark-1 Jaegers for Australia.

Lucky didn’t see combat until July of 2017, when it and the Australian Mark-3 Jaeger Vulcan Specter were deployed against Category-3 Kaiju Ningyo in the Philippines. After 4 hours, they took it down.

Lucky Seven’s next deployment was on May 20, 2018, where it joined the American Mark-1 Jaeger Romeo Blue in deploying to Lima in preparation for Category-2 Grindylow to arrive, only for the Kaiju to be taken out at sea by 4 more Jaegers: the American duo of Mark-3 Gypsy Danger & Mark-4 Hydra Corinthian; the Russian Mark-2 Eden Assassin, and the Mexican Mark-3 Matador Fury.

In February of 2019, Lucky Seven joined Gypsy Danger and the Chinese Mark-1 Horizon Brave in deploying to Manila against the first ever Category-4, Meathead. During the fight, Herc saw something in Scott’s mind that would forever horrify him…

Godzilla arrived on the scene just in time to save Lucky Seven and Gypsy Danger, but couldn’t save Horizon Brave, whose pilots had been killed when Meathead’s tail pierced the Conn-Pod.

When the rescue helicopters had arrived to retrieve the Hansen brothers from their conn-pod, they'd been stunned to discover Herc driving a series of vicious punches into Scott's bloody face. He'd been so overwhelmed by rage that the medics had been forced to drag them forcibly apart and load them onto separate choppers, having no idea what was going on. But as he was being rushed back to the deployment facility in Manila, Herc had explained his actions...by reporting his brother for two counts of rape and murder.

As it would later turn out once the resulting investigation was complete, in the past couple of weeks since the brothers' last Drift, Scott Hansen had sexually assaulted and murdered two young women: one in Sydney, just before Lucky Seven had been moved to the Philippines, and one in Manila, just a few hours before the Jaegers had been deployed. Since the battle had been their first full Drift in weeks, Herc hadn't been suspicious in the slightest until Scott's concentration had slipped while they were preparing to attack Meathead again, at which point all of the memories that Scott had been concealing had come welling up and torn their neural handshake to shreds.

The news sent horrified shockwaves through the ERDC personnel, tempered only by the announcement that Scott Hansen had been promptly arrested and that he'd been sentenced to life in a military prison as soon as the truth of his actions had been confirmed. Herc was utterly devastated by the discovery of what his brother had done, especially after the horrifying trauma of having witnessed some of Scott's memories firsthand via the Drift, and had been flown back to the Sydney Shatterdome to be with his teenage son Chuck as soon as he'd been declared medically fit to travel.

Lucky would remain out of service for 2 years until it was FINALLY repaired and re-launched alongside the Chinese Mark-1 Horizon Shocker, the Chilean Mark-2 Diablo Intercept, the Korean Mark-4 Hydra Ultra, the Italian Mark-1 Atlas Psycho, the Thai Mark-5 Tiger Rush, the Russian Mark-2 Aftermath Elite, and the Icelandic Mark-3 Quake Meridian in late March of 2021.

Lucky’s new pilots were none other than Hale Caesar and Gunnar Jensen of the infamous Expendables Military team.

Lucky would see little to no action during the rest of the war until July of 2024, when all surviving Jaegers were moved to the Hong Kong Shatterdome for Operation Pitfall with the 30 remaining Jaegers. It would be used in the Double Event against Category-4 Kaijus Jawhide and Acidquill, but not in the Triple Event of Otachi, Leatherback and Shrikethorn, nor Operation Pitfall against Category-4’s Raiju, Scunner and Hakuja & the Category-5’s Slattern, Raijin, Thunder Stalker and Leviathan.

When the Kaiju War ended in late July of 2024, the UN voted to keep Lucky Seven in service as the last active Mark-1 Jaeger, and it, along with Striker Eureka, were permanently reassigned to the Sydney Shatterdome.

Battles Against Thanatos (Fanon)

August 17th, 2039:

Category 8 Thanatos emerges from a Breach in Clayton. However, the Kaiju couldn't be tracked by radar, needing helicopters to spot the Kaiju for the Kaiju. The Mark 8 J8-33 and the Mark 9 Bastion Obliterator were deployed to handle the Kaiju. Thanatos would attack J8-33 from behind, the Jaeger would react fast enough and punch the Kaiju in the jaw. The Category 8 would then scratch the Jaeger's arm, before taking another punch to its jaw. The Pilots of J8-33 would call Bastion for back up. The Mark 8 would brace for a pounce, only of the Kaiju to scrtch the Jaegers legs with both right arms. The Kaiju then pushed the Mark 8 down and bite the conn-pod and crush it. Bastion would attack from behind and pull the Kaiju off J8-33. Bastion would hold the Kaiju down and shoot it in the head twice with one of its shotguns.

January 29th, 2040:

Paragon Ultra was deployed with Hunter Vertigo and Marauder Zeus in Meridian; however, Paragon would diverge as per orders from Marshall Rask to battle a Dengue. After landing, Marauder would go hunting for Kaiju. Thanatos would pounce onto the Mark 6's back, Marauder's pilots would slam the Kaiju into a building to shake it off. They would quickly arm their left gatling gun and fire them at the Kaiju, scaring it off. The Kaiju would attempt to attach from the side only to get uppercut, the Kaiju would narrowly escape as Marauder shot at it with both gatling guns. The fight wouldn't continue as Marauder detects an Acid Quil heading for Hunter Vertigo and would run to aid them.

Later on, Paragon had defeated Dengue and had found a broken down civilian bus. Paragon would get attacked by the Category 8 who disable the Jaeger's chest cannons with a swipe of it's claws and proceed to pin the Jaeger down. Thanatos would pin the Jaeger's left head down and try to bite the Mark 9's conn-pod. Paragon would prevent the Kaiju from doing so by putting it's forearm against the Kaiju's neck. Ares Valient was in the area and was told to stand down by Paragon's pilot, Asher Turner. Paragon's copilot, Logan would request Ares to grab the civilian bus and take it somewhere safe. Ares would disobey orders grab the Kaiju and pull it it off Paragon. The Kaiju would shake the Jaeger off, but Ares then quickly grabbed the Kaiju and lifted it up and slammed Kaiju's back into its knee, killing it. Paragon would grab the civilian bus, and Ares would escort the Jaeger to Sydney as The Black is initiated.

May 7th, 2045:

The Brisbane Base would detect small tremors using seismometers and low frequency rumbling through infrasound detectors, singling a Kaiju heading towards them. With no thermal signatures and the Kaiju not appearing on radar and estimate on weight and speed made through the seismometers and infrasound detectors, it was clear it was a Thanatos. With no way to accurately track the Kaiju, Sentries won't be able to accurately bombard it with mortars.

The Mark 7 Falx Livyatan was deployed to battle the Kaiju who'd pounce on the Jaeger. Livyatan then threw the Kaiju into a large rock formation and then charge into the Kaiju with its heavily armored shoulder. The Kaiju kicked the Jaeger backward and scratched the Jaeger's shoulder, not causing any significant damage. The Jaeger delivered a series of punches to the Kaiju's face, before grabbing the Kaiju's head and slammed its knee in the Kaiju's jaw. The Kaiju then use all six limbs to lunge forward and push the Jaeger down. Livyatan fired its Hydrogen Ion cannons in its chest to send the Kaiju backward, the Kaiju quickly got to its feet and slashed at Livyatan's chest with its tails and damaged the cannons. Thanatos pinned the Mark 9 down and aimed to bite the conn-pod. Livyatan caught the Kaiju's head and with its thumbs, gouged the Kaiju's eyes, the Kaiju roared in pain and backed away shaking its head. Thanatos pounced at Livyatan who reacted in time and moved aside, causing the Category 8 to go headfirst into a rock formation, leaving it disoriented. Livyatan would pin the Thanatos down with its right forearm on its neck, the Jaeger then armed its left arm's fusion cannon and burned the Kaiju's abdomen. The Kaiju blindly scratched in the air, causing minor damage to the hull but broke the windshield and kicked the Mark 7 away.

Thanatos then lunged at Livyatan again, the Mark 7 caught the jaw and then quickly put the Kaiju into a headlock. The Jaeger held the Kaiju's head with hand on the bottom jaw and the other on the top and then twisted Thanatos' head, breaking its neck, finally killing it.

Why the "Uprising doesn't exist" joke doesn't die. (...And shouldn't)

Despite it being a little over 8 years since it's release, much of the fandom upholds a united meme that the second movie did not happen...and for good reason.

However, some have gotten to the point of feeling that the joke needs to die, that the point has already been made and that the fandom needs to just move on and let it go.

Those with that mindset completely miss the point of why we uphold this joke.

Really...I think they know, but they are being disingenuous for various reasons.

Still, there may be some who dislike the joke simply for misunderstanding it.

If people in the fandom upheld the joke for the same reason memes like "skibidi" or "6-7" were so popular, then the frustration with the joke would be valid.

But that's not why the joke is said.

The joke exists as a collaborative effort to send a unanimous message to the people in control of the franchise that we will not support nor stand for another installment as disappointing and poorly made as Uprising and that if they want us to acknowledge and support the next installment then it needs to be of satisfactory quality.

I would not be surprised if that is why the live-action prequel is taking so long to give any updates. Maybe they are actually making sure the product is going to be quality this time to earn back the trust of the fandom and gain our support.

Other fandoms do this sort of joke as well for the exact same reason.

The fandom speaks to the IP owners through their expressions of satisfaction, silence and dissatisfaction.

When the fandom is pleased, the owners of the franchise lean more into whatever they are doing.

When the fandom is silent, the owners of the franchise keep things the same.

When the fandom is displeased, the owners of the franchise lean away from whatever they are doing.

Ideally at least.

Though often times the franchise owners try to test what they can get away with or if they can outlast the backlash from the fandom and keep doing what they know the fandom doesn't like.

So what does this mean?

If we did "just let the joke die" as some call for, we risk sending the message that we are ok with Uprising, or that we no longer are bothered by it.

The execs running the show undoubtedly gather intel on the disposition of the fandom.

They have to.

Knowing what the fandom is likely to financially support is essential information to them, it's literally a big part of marketing.

So if we drop the joke and go silent on the matter, guess what message is being sent to the execs?

"They don't care, they aren't bothered anymore. It's safe to keep doing what we did before."

Now they feel comfortable giving us another Uprising because in their mind, all they have to do is wait us out and we'll get over it and they can rinse and repeat.

This is why the joke stands, so that they can see that our dissatisfaction with Uprising has not worn off and that the only path forward is to give us the same magic that the first movie gave us or better.

Only after we get that is it fitting to say that the joke can die because it has already served its purpose.

The joke also serves to make sure new fans aren't deceived by Uprising and understand why it is unacceptable.

So yea, the joke is not people being annoying and recycling a dead meme.

Uprising and connected media put Pacific Rim into something of a limbo state for quite a while...a few years shy of a decade!

We did get The Black, but that didn't get far.

We are only just recently starting to see hope of new content, and we are keeping hope that it will live up to the magic of the first film and give Pacific Rim a new lease on life.

So fans of Pacific Rim make sure that it is well understood that we do in fact have standards and that giving us something like Uprising will not be acceptable.

I believe this is important because I really think if they fumble the live-action prequel, Pacific Rim will officially die. I genuinely don't see why even action figure companies would bother to make PR figures at that point.

We would have to just wait until a die-hard fan buys the franchise off of whoever owns it at the point and they revive it themselves.

So us sending the message of our distain for content like Uprising and connected media literally could be the difference between the future or the end of Pacific Rim.

What do you think? Do you agree or do you have a different point of view?

Keep it respectful or keep it pushin.

Kaiju based on how much I like them

I’m gonna be so for real there’s only like a tiny handful of kaiju I legitimately despise with every fiber you’re more likely to find me saying a kaiju is good. It’s just not great and a kaiju is absolute peak better than the other way.

I have a question for the English-speaking fandom

In the Spanish-speaking fandom, there's a very strong tendency to pretend that Uprising isn't just non-canon, but doesn't even exist. Every time it's mentioned, people are quick to ask, "What sequel are you talking about?" "There's only one Pacific Rim movie," and things like that. The contempt goes that far, and I wanted to ask: is it the same or similar with you? Do you also prefer to feign ignorance when Uprising is mentioned?

I replaced every sound in the movie with Minecraft Sounds (6)

Enjoy 6 minutes of edited minecraft PEAK at 1080p and edited with Passion and not money or time limits

I haven't done this in a while so hit me with your opinions if you have any (because i also needed to sacrifice a little bit for general quality)

History of Vulcan Specter Reforged - The Sacrificial Tribute

Mark: 4.

Country: Australia.

Kaiju Kills: 6.

Launch Date: April 1, 2025.

Status: Destroyed.

Constructed and launched on April 1, 2025, Vulcan Specter Reforged was a tribute to the original Vulcan Specter, who was destroyed in late 2023 when it and its pilots, Bobby Kanda & Ken Gould, detonated deep underwater to save half of Brisbane.

Vulcan Specter Reforged was powered by a Wind Dust Core, which made it resilient to EMP-based attacks. It had two structures on its back that resembled the T-16 Angel Wings from Striker Eureka and appeared to be quite durable, given that it was a hand-to-hand fighter and had wide shoulder pads and a ring around its neck, possibly made to protect the pilots from attacks directed at the Conn-Pod.

The Jaeger sported a type of knuckleduster on its fists to increase the power of its physical strikes and had a weapon called "Atomic Drill", a large cone-shaped drill that when projected from its hand, could spin at high speed and could pierce even the skull of a Category-5 Kaiju.

Despite being a hand-to-hand fighter, Vulcan's right forearm was armed with a powerful I-19 Plasmacaster and its chest had at least two missiles.

Vulcan’s first deployment was on May 7, 2028, where it was deployed to Tasmania alongside the Chinese Mark-4 Horizon Bravo and American Mark-7 Jaeger Gipsy Destroyer to face the Category-4 Kaiju Androc. Most of the fight was back and forth, but at the end of it, the Jaeger scored its first kill by defeating the creature in physical combat and killing it with a well-aimed shot from its plasma cannon.

On May 31, 2028, Vulcan Specter Reforged was deployed alongside American Mark-3 Gypsy Danger, the Japanese Mark-4 Echo Saber, the Chinese Mark-4 Crimson Tyohoon and Australian Mark-5 Striker Eureka to Melbourne to face the Category-5 Kaiju Frightcrawler. During the fight, the Kaiju's double ends proved a challenge for the Jaeger Team, but Vulcan and Echo eventually managed to drive the monster back into the ocean, where Gypsy Danger punched it, allowing Striker to hurl the blades of a wind turbine at the creature, ripping off one of its heads. At the same time, Vulcan broke the wing off a 747 nearby, and stabbed Frightcrawler’s other head, killing the large Kaiju.

In June of 2028, Vulcan, the Indian Mark-2 Hero Rama, and the South African Mark-6 Murder Witxh, are deployed to Medellin, Colombia, to face the Category-4 Gyakushu. During the fight, much of the city was left in ruins and Vulcan suffered heavy damage, being knocked down and losing about half of his power. Meanwhile, the Kaiju tried to rip off Vulcan's Conn-Pod and eventually the Mark-3 manages to use its last remaining energy to kill the Kaiju before it shuts down completely.
