I managed to get some seeds from that big bloom I came across

But someone beat me to the biggest Pods close to the fence but I still managed to get a couple from each type even if they were smaller I still managed to get a lot of seeds. I'm going to leave the ones where the tops haven't opened yet and see if they do before cutting them. The biggest pod I got was nothing some that where further away had pods that were 4 times the size and over 10 per plant I hope they take next year because I would love a bloom like that

This is how the first poppies I have got to flower are getting on

And only the ones on the corner seem to be finishing the other two greener ones the pods just seem to be getting bigger each day. I stopped watering them over two weeks ago. They have had a couple of showers witch I thought was going to damage them but they keep kicking on I'm not complaining tho I'm buzzing they are the first ones I've got from seed to bulb at the 3rd year of trying I was treating them like they were normal flowers there not like. There's not much I haven't grown over the years but poppies surprised me how they can be so delicat when little and so resilient once established.

Ladybird eating a comparatively massive dose of opium

Found this ladybird earlier. I thought he was eating an aphid when I zoomed in on my macro setting, so he was actually eating a little chunk opium

This year's seed harvest

Some mixed varieties of peony and Hungarian and some unknown or mixed hybrids seeds. All picked when windows have opened naturally or pods dried on the plant. What do yall think of the viability of them. Not sure why some are dark and some are blue and some are brown and some are orrange or even pink and white ones? They look mature too me. Would love to share some out to the uk community if wanted.

Mould on pods

Is there anything to do at this point or should I just chuck it. I guess it let it ride out and do the old squish but I don’t know

Day 78

Started with 9 pots my first grow and way to many plants in each pot. Learned why it’s so important to do a lot of things. Growing these fussy little pre Madonna’s is no easy task. This October November we are making a couple outdoor pots. See how they do. Live east of Seattle.

Anyone wants to sound in on why the seed pods on this one plant are coming out deformed let us know. Does that just happen? I’ll make sure and not collect seeds from that one.

Last question the first plant that flowered. Has 2 seed pods on it. Pedals are gone. 2 weeks since the pedals fell off. Good time to harvest? The little openings in the seed pods have not opened yet.

Opium Poppy with John Feehan, Wildflowers of Offaly series

Such a beautiful plant. The bees sure love the pollen. I watched this video and I immediately flashed to one of the many "Thinning" question's that includes a photo of a huge pot with three sprouts in it. The plants just need to be left alone. They are prolific without our help. Scratch the soil, rake in a handful of seeds, wait. Let the dried heads drop the seeds where they grew. In a few seasons you will have more than you ever need.

Informal_House_29 Will Be Back Soon!

Hi,

I am in contact with Informal_House_29. I get my seeds from him and he was temp banned by Reddit. Only because they thought he was spamming.

The temp was supposed to be over but a glitch restarted it. He is working on it.

He will message everyone once he is back. He has not forgot about you! He will make a post as soon as he is back up and running!

Seed viability test.

I set them off at the end of may to see if the seeds I bought were viable, way too late in the season so they're really weak, I stuck 14 in the freezer overnight and these are what came out. I didn't expect much but it's a lovely colour. Can't wait to see what the others look like.

Lived here 4 years, and just today discovered this "peony poppy" popping up next to the peonies!

Going to try sowing seeds this fall. Canada 5b east coast. Tips welcome!

Looky Looky

I see some flower buds coming in! I know this isn’t ideal and I’m new. I’m hoping that if I just leave them be that they will just keep coming back in this spot every year? Thanks Christopher Robin! If anyone has any suggestions I’m all ears!
