Suggestions for Silver Sky SE bridge pickup replacement
I love the guitar but I find the bridge pickup pretty much unusable on its own without heavy eq. It is way too shrill, way too bright.
Any suggestions welcome :)

I was recently offered this 2011 SC-58 in trade for my 2020 McCarty in Fire Red Burst, non 10-top. From what I understand the SC would have an Artist top, which is cool. Mine has the original case and all candy, it appears the case for the SC is either aftermarket or one of the Hollowbody style cases. Anyway, I’m curious what you guys may think about value difference. I see values for the McCarty’s a lot more than the SC-58’s since they were a little limited in run numbers.
i contacted this person he is selling me this for pkr 340k
$1220 due to high taxes in pakistan
but im not sure if these are scratches or old guitar can anyone check
Hey everyone,
I’m primarily a drummer, but I’ve recently decided that I’d really like to start learning electric guitar. The problem is that I have pretty limited free time, so I’ll probably begin with online lessons and practice whenever I can.
At the music store where I take drum lessons once a week, I came across a PRS SE Mark Holcomb that I can buy for around €1000 and it got me seriously considering it as my first electric guitar.
My main question is:
Is buying a guitar like the PRS SE Mark Holcomb overkill for a complete beginner?
On one hand, I know I could start with something much cheaper. On the other hand, I’d rather buy something that will last me for years and keep me inspired to play, instead of upgrading shortly after.
I’m mainly interested in:
Comfort/playability for a beginner
Overall versatility
Whether it’s a good long-term instrument
If the specs/features make sense for someone new to guitar
I’m also wondering whether I should instead look at something like the PRS SE CE 24, which seems to be recommended a lot as a versatile option for beginners and intermediate players.
For context, I enjoy progressive metal/rock, but I’d also like a guitar that can cover other styles reasonably well while I learn.
What do you think?
Would you recommend the SE Mark Holcomb as a first guitar, or would a different PRS model make more sense?
Thanks!
Got this at the weekend, feels great to play and really like these pickups compared to the 85/15’s in my S2
My new to me 09 DGT had unoriginal poor fitting knobs. I ordered a set of USA 24 spline from PRS. Only the second volume knob fit decent. The push-pull wouldn’t fit at all. The first volume knob fit but was a bit loose and went down too far. The knob was rubbing slightly on the body. I pulled the back plate to see if the pots had been replaced. They looked original to me. After further inspection inspection of the shafts themselves it tells a different story. One is Brass fine splined and short, one is brass, fine splined and tall, the push pull is zink, coarse splined (metric?) and tall. If they are indeed mix matched imported replacements would I be doing my guitar a disservice by not returning to the originals? This is the nicest guitar I own. Check out the pics and please help me with this!! Ive purchased 2 sets of knobs already with. No luck. Ill post more pics in the comments
Im curious if Fender is going to destroy all of its acoustic guitar inventory since they copied traditional acoustic guitar shapes??
Wide thin necks standard studio guitar. Looking to get my first prs. Any good news on these? Thanks much! The studio prs with the wide thin neck.
I’m really struggling with my new SE. I restrung it but it’s still not right. Should the bridge be sitting on the guitar body? There is fair bit of movement around the term screw at the high E too.
Hello everyone. I have bought this guitar last week. I do love it, I'd like to have my action slightly lower. It was supposedly set up at the guitar shop I bought it at and was wondering if this looks correct and/or how I should adjust it. I have already done a slight trussrod adjustment, which helped.
I’ve had this thing for going on 10 years and it was always just not quite right. It’s an amazing player, sustain for days, rock solid 26 year old guitar.
I’ve never quite been happy with the stock McCarty pickups. They’re super thick and creamy clean, but pretty dark borderline mud overdrive. Especially the neck. I didn’t want to spend $$$ on PRS pickups so instead of 57/08s I opted for some pearly gates as they’re a common swap on these older McCarties. Couldn’t be happier, clear, articulate, bite, much more raw but still very much a McCarty.
Anyways, thought I’d share in case anybody else is in the same boat.
Should I get it new or should I be patient and wait for a used listing? i play anything from metal to indie and pop. I have a Gibson les Paul standard 60s right now but that’s about it for electrics. its either this or a jazzmaster now. maybe a strat or tele but I need suggestions😭😭
ps: im a 14 year old hongkonger playing in a middle school band that has some shows sometimes. i currently have a gibson les paul, a hotone ampero mini and a few acoustics. if i dont get a new guitar, ill consider the quad cortex. theres a used listing for 9800 hkd
While cleaning up my new to me ‘98 CE22, it feels like I’m stepping back in time. That’s what 28 years of faded Royal Blue looks like.
I believe I posted here before, during the early stages of the build, but today, six months after I placed my order, and just over my 3 year anniversary, my supervisor came by with the gig back and a receipt to sign.
CE Swamp Ash Special. I built the body myself (3 piece swamp ash) and picked a neck blank that had some cool figuring. The fretboard has a very light flame to it (that doesn't really show in pictures, but in good light, it pops pretty nicely.
even though I work there, this the only Maryland made PRS I've ever owned (had a se 24 for a little while though, didn't care much for the neck profile personally) and only the 2nd one I've ever played.
Super proud of myself and my co workers that we put out this quality of product, and now I have one in my hands. I know what I put into these guitars every night when I go to work (I work night shift in body construction) and I couldn't be more happy and proud that I now have a token of that in my hands.
HELL YEAH! Time to log off here and go plug in and jam some Iron Maiden tunes!
Only prs I own, bought in 2014 at GC.
It’s not a 10 top, I’m not a dentist or anything like that. 🤷
But I love it. It was my number #1 for the years when I was gigging.
