NGD PRS S2 Custom 24 Emerald Green 2015

Last one from me for the time being! Thanks for the positive reception to my last two NGD posts.

I bought this one to replace a newer S2 Custom 24 I had as I just don’t get on with the new nitro finishes (I’m one of those people that it just feels sticky to after a short time playing unfortunately - have tried everything, all types of cleaning, waxing, polishing, nothing helps for long!) Emerald Green is also my absolute favourite colour so I had to jump on this when I saw it!

It plays really well, my S2 Custom 22 is also a 2015 and they feel very similar which I was hoping would be the case. It’s got that beaten up, well worn, well played vibe to it that makes it feel broken in and comfortable. I’m going to upgrade this with some new ivory pickup rings and a core TCI 85/15 bridge and 59/09 neck - although the stock pickups sound surprisingly good.

Thanks all, happy playing!

EDIT - I’m all about the green love in the comments, thanks and keep it up y’all!

NGD(ish) PRS SE Studio Lake Blue 2026

Hey all - thanks for the positive reactions to my SE Custom 24 Amethyst Quilt the other day. As promised, here was the next one to arrive - an SE Studio with a stunning Lake Blue top, I think I won the maple veneer lottery with this one as the grain is excellent!

It sounds great acoustically and plugged in, my only experience with the narrowfield DD pickups was on an NF3 that I owned briefly. The ones on this Studio sound slightly darker and less spanky than on that NF3 to my ears, but it was easy to adjust for through my setup. The bridge humbucker is great.

Fit and finish is pretty much all excellent with one slightly disappointing thing - the frets are a bit gritty, especially on the higher ones. This is the first SE I’ve picked up in years that’s had any grittiness on the frets, I think Cor-Tek are generally excellent with their fret work for PRS these days so maybe this one was an end of the day on a Friday job? Either way, I’ve got loads of fret polishing equipment so it’s easily dealt with - just a bit disappointing for a guitar that was over £800. Not the end of the world though and, on the whole, the guitar is really impressive otherwise.

Thanks everyone’s who’s read this - always happy to answer any questions!

NGD (to me) PRS SE Custom 24 Amethyst Quilt 2024

Hey everyone - first time posting, I often see NGD posts popping up in my stream so I thought I’d share a bit of joy with everyone.

I’ve recently sold several pricey guitars that weren’t getting played and a load of other stuff in a clear out so I decided to treat myself to a few cheaper PRS’s I had my eyes on. This was the first to arrive - an SE Custom 24 in Amethyst Quilt imported from Japan for a steal!

It has a stunning top and sounds great both acoustically and plugged in - I have a pair of LT 58/15s that I might swap in at some point to see how they sound in it, but it’s decent as it is currently.

Only downside is the necks a bit on the thick side for a PRS SE (meant to be wide thin but definitely isn’t) but it’s not thick to the point that it’s a dealbreaker, and the fret work is excellent so it plays like butter!

As I said this is one of a few I ordered so I’m happy to share more if anyone’s interested? Also happy to answer any questions!
