Uber Delivery Driver Takes Property - Help

Hello,

Looking for some help from the community, on the evening of May 14th, this uber delivery driver made a delivery from pizza pizza to a home in the neighbourhood

As he is leaving, he goes past my basketball net, and reverses to take 2 25LB dumbells that are on the base of the net that I use with the kids for workouts

He also is clearly seen looking at everything else, but this isn’t garbage nor were they in a spot on the curb for taking

I contacted Uber who essentially does not care, and told me to open a police report

Not trying to get him in trouble or charged or anything, just want the weights returned

Anyone know or seen this driver? Anyone able to help on how to get the cars plate? Any guidance?

Im actually surprised Uber wont cross reference with my proof and contact the driver on my behalf.

Thanks all!

Pickering Library Accountability Group (18-29)

Hey there! Me and my friends are thinking of starting an accountability group and was wondering if anybody was interested in joining :3

In the group we all meet in a Discord voicecall for 15-30 minutes every morning at 7 to plan our day. I wrote a bot to keep track of a habit of your choice and every week there will be a role assigned to a random person that gives them special commands to keep the others accountable for those habits. As you complete them you level up, unlocking new habit slots.

Every week we'll hang out at the Pickering Library to review the week and socialize! One of the members may give a speech for ~30 minutes, and then we do an activity like Jackbox or board games.

We are looking for people ages 18-29 who lives in or near Pickering. Please DM me if you are interested.

Rocks!

Folks, where can I buy some rocks to landscape my garden? Regular "field" rocks. Unsurprisingly Home Depot only carry the cut stone.

Backwater valve

What’s everyone’s take on installing a backwater valve? I’ve spoken to a few contractors and I’m getting conflicting recommendations on them. Some have outright said: “it’s a non issue in Pickering”.

Im unsure how to validate other than asking here. No wet basement issues whatsoever but contemplating doing it before finishing my basement.

Anyone catch the biblical level fog this morning

I just finished work and I looked outside and saw a heavy fog that I probably haven't seen in years, i was going to walk to the bus stop, but I couldn't see it was too scary and my anxiety was going off the rails, like it was so foggy i knew what was around me, i knew the location I was at and I knew where the houses were but I just couldn't see them i couldn't see anything. It's like as if they weren't real as if the world disappeared. I don't even know how some of y'all drive in that but hopefully, if you did you're safe

Feel uneasy after this, why do you think he did this?

I was sitting in my front lawn gardening, and across the street a man was staring at me as he walked by. I ignored it and I was taking a call, about a minute later I turn around and see him on my neighbours driveway coming at me from behind!!! I say loudly “wth” on the phone.

I quickly got up and he turned around and pretended like he was going to the neighbors door, then i went to my door and watched him turn around and quickly leave through the side walk.

I’m freaked out. He was like 30-40 thin a sian dude.

I’m just worried because I love gardening and walking outside but have no idea what this guy was up to.

Pot Light Installation

Looking for recommendations for pot light installation in Pickering/Ajax!

Planning to get 6–8 pot lights installed in my townhouse living room. Newer build, no popcorn ceiling, fairly small area.

I’ve never had electrical work done before, so also wondering:

What should I keep in mind before hiring someone?
What’s a reasonable price range for this?

Thank you so much in advance 🤗

Building a "Command Centre" for my dog Archie here in Pickering—looking local testers 🐾

Hey neighbors!

I'm a developer living here in Pickering, and like many of you, I spend a lot of time over at the Grandview or Beachfront dog parks with my pup, Archie.

I got frustrated trying to manage Archie's health records, calorie math, and vet dates across different apps and notebooks—so I decided to build a solution myself: PupTrack Pro.

I just finished the mobile dashboard (image attached!) and focused it on speed. I added a "Quick Action" bar at the top so I can log his walks or meals in about 2 seconds while we're out and about.

The "Founding 15" Neighbor Offer:
Since I’m building this right here in town, I’d love to have local dog parents help me stress-test it. If you're the first to join the waitlist tonight, I’m giving away 1 Year Free and a Lifetime Price Lock (your rate will never go up, even after we've launched).

You can check it out and grab a spot here: www.puptrackpro.com

Hope to see some of you (and your pups) around town!

Durham police say they need $1.1B. That could push residents' property tax increase over 10% next year

Hi, going to watch the game at BMO tomorrow. How crowded is the Train going to Exhibition from Pickering go going to be? I would think I will be going against traffic, but would like a tip as it’s gonna be my first time taking the train in a decade or so. I’m assuming going back will be crowded too? TIA
