As a group of friends who just started playing this year, sumali kami sa tournament na to since it sounded fun and chill lang for our first tourna. We joined the "Novice" division kasi we don't have any racquet sports background, and compared to the people we play with, our DUPR ratings are definitely less than 2.75.
Yung isang team naman proud na proud pa silang nananalo with a big point difference, tapos after a point, nagcecelebrate pa by shouting lol na para bang close game yung laban. May dala din silang maiingay na fans (?) and/or friends na hiyaw nang hiyaw kada point won, at talagang nakapwesto sila dun sa benches where only players are supposed to be. Ang sikip na nga sa Pickleball Junction tapos wala pa silang even a bit of decency to move for the players who are supposed to be sitting there.
So ayun, mid-tournament nakakatamad na laruin yung game kapag alam mong sila yung makakalaban niyo kasi kahit anong gawin mo, mababalik lang nila lahat and turn it into a "Winning Shot". Part pa ng malalaking club tong 2 teams na to so nakakagulat talaga na hindi sila nahihiya to cheat like this.
Dagdag pa dito yung event organizers na hindi organized, nagkulang sa time, binago yung format ng games, hindi pa natapos yung elimination games ng ibang teams, tapos pumayag silang maglaro ng championship match yung 2 kupal na teams hahaha like hello???? Lahat kami nagbayad to play tapos hindi lahat matatapos yung games? Natapos yung event na walang awarding or anything and we went home hoping that the organizers will do something to make it right, but we were wrong. Before the tournament, they even made us sign waivers and self-assessments but they did nothing to uphold "pledge of integrity" that they're talking about.
All-in-all, inubos talaga ng tournament na to yung competitive energy namin kasi everything just felt so unfair. We followed the rules, while others won while breaking them. It's safe to say that we won't be joining any tournaments in the near future. Silver lining nalang dito ay nagkaron kami ng new friends sa group ng mga *Tunay na Novice* and hopefully, we can play more fun pickleball together.
I recently got a new set of expensive balls and I wanna make sure i dont lose them. Do you guys mark your balls? If you do, what do you mark them with?
New player here. I don’t want to buy a temporary cheap paddle. I want to buy one time bigtime. Please suggest. Thank you!
is it just me, or hindi masyado napapag-usapan dito sa PH yung paddle shape when it comes to paddle recommendations? most of the paddle recommendation threads kasi na nakikita ko dito or anywhere else have people recommend elongated paddles without discussing much about the shape and its advantages/disadvantages compared to widebody and hybrid paddles, and madalang lang din ako makakita ng nag-recommend ng hybrid or widebody. for some reason hindi masyado dinidiscuss yung shapes and kung ano yung possible na bagay sa gagamit when IMO it's also a big factor.
This review is from a perspective of a intermediate level playe na paddle nerd
After playing with the Luzz Glider 2026, masasabi eti na the best for me s 5-7k price range. Madami dn ako na test kahit papano pero I have specifically owned luzz cannon, vatic pro prism flash and vatic pro vsol.
Power – 8.5/10
Maneuverability/fast hands 9.5/10
Magaan swing weight nya kaya maganda talaga sya s hands battle at counters s kitchen line.
Control – 9.5/10
Bihira sumablay 3rd shot drops ko and my dinks.
Spin and grit - 9.0
Not as durable as my vapor power 2 pero mulha naman mas tatagal sya s dalawamg vatic pro ko. Grot durability amg issue kos vatic pros kc
Sweet Spot – 9.5/10
for me, ito na ang bagong mid-tier paddle recommendation ko.
Yung lightweight po sana and easy to maneuver. Eyeing po Luzz paddles or Arte paddles. Thank you po sa sasagot! Budget is around 3k, or recommend po something na mas better.
Hi! planning to buy new a paddle but im not really sure what to buy since im not yet that familiar to different brands/types of paddle. But i’ve seen some people recommending Luzz Cannon and Mjolnir? Are they really worth it for beginners? Budget is around 6-8k. Thanks!
If there’s one thing about Open Plays that I really dislike (and I’m sure a lot of us do too), it’s yung mga players na masyadong masama ang ugali sa beginners.
If it’s ALL LEVELS, it should go without saying na pero please set your expectations. As for me, kapag may beginner akong nakakalaro, I really go out of my way to make them feel welcome. I make sure they know na okay lang magkamali. As I always tell them, wala namang premyo… fun lang!
(Though I also agree na kapag “beginner,” sana hindi naman yung first time pa lang talaga aapak sa court at doon pa lang aaralin yung rules.)
HOWEVER, may isang realization din ako recently. 😅
That after na pinaghirapan mo itawid yung buong rally mag-isa dahil mas experienced player ka. Tapos ending titignan lang yung bola.
To our dear beginners, here’s a tip from someone na laging handa naman kayo lagi ipagtanggol kayo sa court. 😂
Please stay in a ready stance and always try to go for the ball.
Trust me, mas maa-appreciate yun ng partner mo because it shows you’re making an effort. Lahat naman tayo dumaan sa pagiging beginner. Mistakes are expected… giving up on the point isn’t. 😊

So for context i did my first open play the other day. The day before said open play i did enroll in a light coaching session naman so i have knowledge on serving (ok ako dito) fronthand, backhand, kitchen etc. Btw this OP was specifically beginner to novice. Like strictly nakalagay na no dupr rating above 3.0 and for people to stop smurfing on lower ranks.
Like i said, first OP ko ito so sinasabi ko naman sa mga kasama ko na first time ko and beginner ako. Nalilito pa ako sa swapping and scoring. Everyone was encouraging. May senior citizen na sumali, and I was trying to make convo so I asked "beginner din po kayo?" with a smile. Then he replied coldly "ewan ko hija andito lang ako para magpapawis". Ok gets. Wala naman problema.
Never ko sya naka partner and siguro I just need to brush up and get good talaga through practice and consistency. Nakakabalik naman ako ng tira and rally kaso kasi syempre since first time ko may pagka tambak yung mga nagiging kakampi ko (btw 6 lang kami nagrorotate). And every after game na talo ako, the senior citizen would yell "ay ambilis?! Bakit ambilis??? Ambilid nooo???" And he would say that for like 5 minutes each time. So the people in open play are either cringing or like just wants him to stop kase alam naman ng lahat kung bakit mabilis-- its because of me and my skill issue. Tambak kami. I overheard the old person saying na he was purposely trying to embarass me to "scar me" which then would push me to be better.
I just continued sa open play. I know i need to get good and I am determined to get good para hindi pabigat. But honestly, i felt so embarrassed and ashamed when the senior citizen was yelling that every end of round to the point na while im typing this ayoko na magpakita bukas sa court. Baka mapahiya na naman ako. I just... i dont know how to take it. Is this the culture? Bago ako so i dont know.
Hello! Ano po mas maganda SYPIK TRITON 5 or WIKA BAO FIRE 2? Pls help a girlie
Hello! I've been soo interested in playing this sport. Pero di ko alam how should I start? I don't have friends din po kasi na I can aya to play with. Is there any community that could help me meet new people? I want to learn how to play this game. Please help meeee. I'm around San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
sabi ko nag ppractice naman ako with a wall for 2 hours in 1 week like dink lang and some two handed backhand dink so I decided to join open play with my friend (he does not know how to play) and yung paddle namen is yung manipis lang yung tig 200 pesos sa shopee, so sinabi ko nalang bawi nalang tayo sa skills,
So ayun nga, naglaro kame, paddle stacking ata ung OP, and pagdating namin doon, nahiya kame sa paddles namen sobrang nipis kase 😂 (walang rent), tapos hindi man lang kame makalagpas sa serving mostly, so in the end hindi ko rin na apply ung sa wall training ko 😂 ang hirap rin pala I receive,
So buti nalang may mabait kameng nakalaro, nakilaro samen 2 times and tinuruan then we got nervous nung iba na opponent and ayon hanggang service mostly lang nangyayare, after 4 games we got embarrassed because of our paddles (akala nung isa 3 lang maglalaro dahil sa nipis 😂 ), nahihiya kame Ilagay doon and nakakahiya sa kalaban boring siguro sa kanila and umuwi nalang kame.
Hello Pickleballers! Does anyone of you tried buying here from this shop?
Thanks in advance!
my dad tried my 1776 boomstik selkirk and loved it. gusto nyang similar sa boomstik pero ayaw nyang parehas kaming selkirk. any recos na same sa 1776? planning to gift him sana for his 60th kaya malaki ang budget ko. drop you recos please thank you!
I’m a newbie and have had about 3 coaching sessions and I decided to invest in a beginner paddle na.
My first paddle is about to be delivered and I researched about how to apply overgrips. Yung iba naman yung thinner side start sa baba then pag dating sa taas, they cut the extra part. Then put the sticker sa taas.
Also, do i just apply the free overgrip from enflexy over the handle agad? So parang lalabas dalawang grips? Or do i use the one installed na and use the freebie as an extra for replacement once the one pre installed is maasim na? Hahahaha
Thanks! I think im overthinking this pero first paddle ko kasi so i wanna be sure muna before i make a mistake 😭
Hi! My brother and I are trying out pickleball but unsure yet if we will commit to it in the long run. Any recos for 2 paddle sets preferably <2k. Thanks!
Hi, I'm a beginner and kind of practicing at home, l'm eyeing some paddles like mjolnir or noir, ang problema ko lang is yung ingay which I think is loud for the neighbors when I'm practicing at home
Should I go for noir since it's more silent and hindi ko naman ba pagsisihan sa mga OP ung tunog ng mjolnir (if noir) which they said is more poppy 😂 thanks!
