Why does it take a Facebook post about man shooting up clear view for Byron Lopez to show up at homeless encampment?

The post wasn‘t about him but a few people say things about him not being there so he shows up TO TAKE A PHOTO of course.

I know he’s been running for Congress but he wasn’t running for Congress 6 of the last 7 years and he could have shown up then and actually did something about it and not taking a picture like he did yesterday.

Oh but he just said $130000 to fix up the Plaza. He must have run out of buddys whose alleys and sde walks to pave like he always done before

Aida Flores has biked in Pilsen since she was a child

In a July 1, 2026, article on the Streetsblog Chicago website, Aida Flores said that she has been biking in Pilsen since she was a child. She has encouraged her children to ride their bikes by holding family bike rides. ”It’s great to be able to teach the kids how to be safe [while bike riding] and, also, how to enjoy their city,“ Flores stated. (The photo & the caption are from a February, 2026, Block Club Chicago article about the announcement of Flores’ campaign for alderperson.)

Mexico World Cup Merch

Guys I need some help! I can’t find my Mexico jersey anywhere for Sunday’s game. Does anyone know of any stores, small businesses, and/or vendors selling Mexico merch for the World Cup that I can purchase?

Thank you in advance!

Looking for local opinions

I've been thinking about moving to Pilsen since rent keeps creeping up where I am. I've heard everything from it's a great value to you'll need a car for everything, so I'm not really sure what to expect. I've been checking out a few apartments there and I even looked a couple up on streetsmart after seeing some mixed reviews about the management.

For anyone living there now, what's been the biggest upside and biggest downside?

Cat (Pyramus) Got Out Near 21st Street & Oakley

Hello,

My cat Pyramus is orange and has a problem with darting out. Normally, we catch him fast. This time he rushed out and is nowhere to be found. He is chipped but has managed to take off his collar.

The cat got out in the block between Oakley and Leavitt St on 21st. If you see this dumb orange cat, please send me a message. We love him and want him home.

EDIT: Cat has been found. He was hidden and eating leaves in some overgrowth.

CPS Community Budget Feedback Session today at Dyett High School.

I’ll be attending the CPS Community Budget Feedback Session today at Dyett High School.

Doing this work across our schools and communities has really shown me how much these budget decisions impact people in real life. It’s not just numbers on paper. It’s staff positions, after-school programs, resources for students, support for families, and the everyday things our schools need just to function.

I’ve been hearing directly from school leaders, parents, and community members about how budget cuts are already affecting our kids and our schools. So when CPS is facing a $732 million deficit, I think it’s important for families, students, staff, and community members to be in the room, ask questions, and speak up about what they’re seeing.
I’m going today to listen, learn, and better understand what this means for our communities.

Our kids deserve fully supported schools, and our families deserve to be part of the conversation.

The session is today, June 30th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Dyett High School, 555 E. 51st St.

No adoption fees for all cats at Chicago Animal Care & Control tomorrow, Saturday, 6/27! All cats are fully vetted before going home.

Its kitten season which means the shelter is at capacity. There are around 100 adoptable cats waiting to be chosen. I’m a volunteer — hope to see you there?

Don't be scared or intimidated to question BSL.

You have a right to publicly question his stupid positions.

You have a right to be really unhappy with his keeping the streets filthy, blocking all construction, which leads to soaring rent, blocking compassionate outreach to the plaza homeless, creating drama at every chance he gets, and doing absolutely nothing for the community.

Remember, he is the one who joined a flag burning and got within inches of Gov. Pritzker's face to scream at him, on Veteran's Day no less, all for publicity.

You and I are the normal, hard working, quiet, law-abiding renter. We have rights, too!

And, we vote.

Visiting Pilsen

Hey y’all! I found a cute AirBnB in your neighborhood, and I’d love your thoughts about whether this is a good fit. I’m bringing my family and I want to visit the Field Museum. We will be driving in, so will need parking. We will probably also have a dog with us, so that means dog walks, etc. What do you all think? Any opinions, hints, warnings, or welcomes would be great.

Color Cocktail SCAM Factory

I made the mistake of giving this place my money 3x. I have never received my artwork back. My first experience was years ago and I thought since they changed locations and were under new management things have changed. Boy I was wrong!

I did 2 classes in 1 week in October because it was cheap and I had wanted to do one class with a friend and another for a date night. The teacher was great! The pick up process, that I paid close attention to, was awful... I was being lied to, they were giving confusing instructions, and I was ghosted for a third time.

They encourage good reviews at the end of the class to give the teacher a bonus which I did because he was great! But now they have way more positive reviews than they deserve. I should have known when people were walking in complaining during my class that nothing has changed. But it was new management and I was hopeful.

Now everyday I have to walk by this damn shop and stop myself from defacing the window. It's not even about the money. It about the treatment afterwards.

The owner is a complete and total tool in all the Google reviews. I would love to speak with him in person one day.
