First ultra

Hi! Me and my workmates got invited to join our organizations fundraiser 100km-trail walker event in McLehose Trail, Hong Kong this coming November. The race should be completed by all four members within 48 hours. So we’ll be hiking at night for sure.

None of us have done races close this, in terms of distance nor setting. Almost all have done day hikes (Pulag, Ambangeg trail) and some running events (16km). We have started training last week and continue to progress until the week of the event (with off loading and tapered volume, as design by our coach).

What shoes do you recommend for this type of distance considering that the trail is 55% paved, 30% natural dirt & forest, and 15% stone steps and rocky terrains?

Aside from shoes, any other tips, especially for mental training?

Highly appreciate your responses. Maraming salamat. God bless sa aming mga katawang lupa 💪👆🏼

Montalban Mountain Run (21km)

I remembered asking here sa reddit a few months ago about the trail running community, nahihiya pa ako to join Trailkada kasi it will be a first for me and I feel I’m too weak to join trail runs.

But here I am, I joined my first ever race and it’s a 21km trail race!! Before & during the race - told myself na I’ll maximize the 7hrs cut off na lang yet surprisingly pasok pa ako sa Top 10 ng Female Category 🥹. And my realization was “kaya ko naman pala, nag iinarte lang ako” haha.

This is a really great experience (a core memory for sure) and I look forward to the Leg 2!!

ps. sarap nung sharmaine w/salt don sa AS sa river crossing

Montalban Mountain Run - Leg 1 (21km)

My very first trail race, and it was such a great experience!

Since late registration yung ginawa namin, eto yung medal na nakuha namin instead of the Metal one but honestly I love this Clay medal (not sure if clay talaga pero yun kasi sabi samin) because the fact it was handcrafted, sobrang nakaka tuwa.

Okay, so for someone na recently lang nag start ng Trail Running transitioning from Road Running, honestly sobrang gandang experience ni'to sakin.

Big props kay RD Alvin Moka, sobrang ganda ng combination ng segments, a really great introduction for intermediate level type of route for beginners like me.

Sobrang babait ng marshals and staffs, big props Sinaunang Events.
