Amidst the Rain by Ineryss

Amidst the Rain by Ineryss

I don't have Facebook, so dito na lang ako magra-rant. If may reader man ni Ineryss dito, I'm sure may makakarelate and I also want to hear your honest thoughts.

But anyway, here's mine. If totoong nabuntis ni Ronan yung ex niya, this might easily become one of my most hated Wattpad plots ever

Unang-una, parang pinipilit masyado yung “ang sakit naman nito” moment instead of letting the angst happen naturally. Ang daming hindi nag aadd up, tapos sobrang vague pa nung chapter. Like… minarket mo si Ronan as smart and rational, tapos bigla niyang aakuin agad yung responsibilidad nang hindi man lang iniisip kung kanya ba talaga? That felt so out of character, honestly.

If gusto mong gawing masakit at mabigat yung story, go for it, pero sana executed properly and not just random emotional bomb after emotional bomb.

Anyway, if totoong anak niya talaga ’yun and magiging endgame pa rin sina Bambi at Ron, I might genuinely drop the story. The plot is starting to feel way too kabihasnan-coded for me. Tas I feel bad for Bambi honestly! Ronan heard the rumors tas hinayaan niya lang at wala man lang sinabi kahit ano kay Bambi. Ang gago ha! Baka mas nauna niya pang malaman sa iba. Tapos mahal mo? Anong klaseng pagmamahal 'yan? Haha.

AND ALSO! INIS TALAGA AKO SA WAY NA LAGING NIYANG SINASABI SA READER NA LIGHT LANG DAW, THEN PROCEEDS TO DO THIS? AYOS KA LANG BA? SORRY, I’M FREAKING SENSITIVE, KASI SOBRANG TONE-DEAF NIYA. YOU CAN’T MARKET SOMETHING AS A LIGHT STORY TAPOS MAGSISINGIT KA NG PLOT NA SOBRANG SENSITIVE SA LGBT COMMUNITY. BUBOG NAMIN YANNNN!

Unrealistic ML traits

Saw this on tiktok. Naloka ako sa description ng character. Di ko ma-imagine, yung 6'3 is actually sobrang tangkad na eh. 6'7 pa kaya. Added those degrees pa, like? Ano ba? I get it na fictional yung story, but seriously? Make your characters feel human naman. Haaays.

stop shaming harmless promotion

please, let aspiring writers breathe. hindi lahat ng bagay kailangang gawing issue, especially when no one’s being harmed in the first place.

Story with ML and FL are both rich

Looking for a story about high society, as in parehas mayaman yung leads. Tipong arranged marriage o kaya they met in an elite school, or kahit pano pa sila nagmeet basta both silang mayaman.
Gusto ko equal footing sila sa status in life para hindi madaling maimpress yung isa sa yaman nung isa.
Padrop ng title saka author. Salamat!

Anyone who likes a hated character/story/author, how do you cope?

With social media and fandom spaces constantly favoring controversy and amplifying hate, curious ako how readers who like hated characters/stories deal with all the negativity around them?

Yung mga stories/characters/authors na tagged as problematic, controversial, toxic, etc?

Fandom spaces now just seem like an endless loop of negative posts and comments, while positive ones barely get as much engagement. For example, sa Inksteady posts, the likes of “Mas hindi ito inaasahan ni Mitzie” end up popping up on your feed with. EVERY. scroll.

So kung meron dito na fan ng characters, stories, or even authors na pulutan ng mga tao and often gets dragged everywhere, anong ginagawa niyo?

Do you just block toxic content creators or users? Or patuloy lang kayo sa pag defend? Or kahit triggered kayo, hindi na kayo pumapatol because you find it nonsense and a huge waste of time? Don’t you find it exhausting na there are so few appreciation posts for characters, stories, or sometimes authors that you care about?

Do you just step away from the negativity and read and enjoy them in silence instead because no one seems to get it/them?

Rare Species: After Breakup Chapters >>>> Time Skips

Please give me books na may after-breakup chapters, unlike yung close-the-curtains setup right after the peak breakup. Mapa-old or new books, parang very few books na lang 'yung may ganito.

Sometimes I would think authors use time skips as a shortcut para ma-change 'yung dynamics ng leads. Alam mo ’yun? Minsan parang avoidant din ang authors pagdating sa pagsusulat ng real sad chapters outside of the breakup itself.

Kwento lang ako ng books na may ganitong chapters, and I really enjoyed them.

He's Into Her
This book has three breakups, and male POV pa. I loved it. But well, siya naman talaga ang real FL ng story nila. Part of why I liked it so much is that I enjoy reading people at their most vulnerable—when they’re past pretending and denying, kapag puso na talaga ang nagsasalita.

It also shows how we handle breakups in different stages of our lives. Dumaan siya sa loud sobbing stage, then sa “hindi na ako iiyak para sa’yo but that’s a lie" stage, tapos sa “do I even deserve you?” stage. Nag-time skip din naman ’to, but nothing really changed. He was still just as broken, mas natuto lang siyang magtago after those years.

Every Beast Needs A Beauty
Walang time skip kasi hindi siya nilubayan ever hahaha. I had no special feelings for this book at first, not until that plot twist nung dumating 'yung parents ni Rage. Actually, I hoped we could spend more time on that kaysa sa flirting nila. Sana mas maraming insights about Rage’s turmoil regarding who they really are.

This plot twist is also my perfect example of a surprise-drop twist done right. Maraming books na may surprise drops—whether plot twists or sudden genre changes—but kadalasan parang out of character na for the story.

A book na immaculate sana ang after-breakup chapters but were never written: Play the Game. Imagine them accidentally crossing paths at school, attending each other’s graduations or bar-related activities secretly, hanggang tingin lang. Then Kier enters the picture hanggang sa kinasal sila, and Jax witnesses all of it. Tapos after all that suffering and restraint, malalaman niya lang na murder suspect si Kitty while also being a victim of domestic violence. I really need the book in Jax’s POV. Ugh.

You see, tiningnan ko na buong library ko, but I could only find two books that really did this well. I’m sad. Please help me.

female 2nd leads are seen as threats, but male 2nd leads get seen as safer options: the double standard

It’s always been odd to me how female 2nd leads get treated in the Wattpad community which, mind you, mostly consists of women readers.

Sa isang story na nabasa ko:

• The 2nd female lead loved the ML silently from afar and respected his relationship with the FL. She only tried pursuing the ML when the FL was no longer in the picture. And even then, she still respected the ML’s feelings. She did nothing but help and take care of him without expecting him to see her differently.

And you know what she got in return?

Readers: “Higad” “Ahas” “Desperada” “Malandi”all sorts of slut-shaming, degrading remarks, and name-calling. That’s what she got.

But…

• The 2nd male lead kept pushing himself onto the FL despite knowing she already had a boyfriend, even doing things to break them apart and put them in danger.

You’d think he was hated? No.

Readers: “Ah daddy!” “Siya lang ang villain na tinanggap at minahal ko” “Sana kayo na lang” “Sige lang, mas deserve mo naman si FL” “Bakit kasi hindi na lang ikaw/kayo?”all while flooding the comments with kilig reactions. And kahit magalit pa yung mga readers sa kanya, halatang pilit and ang lambing pa ng approach. (e.g. “Bad! Mag-break na muna tayo!”) and then a few seconds later: (e.g. “Sige na, mahal na ulit kita. Tayo na ulit.”)

Pero kung si 2nd female lead ang nagpupumilit? Mas lalong malala makukuha niya. But, oh well.

Pag may break-up si FL and ML:

• Readers would love and eat up all the FL’s interactions and moments with the 2nd ML.

But

• The moment the 2nd FL greets the ML, malalagot pareho si 2nd FL at ML.

The 2nd ML can win the readers’ hearts with his interactions with the FL, even while she’s in a relationship or going through a break up.

But no other female character can replace the FL in the readers’ hearts for the ML.

Made of scar

jonaxx has this way of writing religion and politics without making the reader feel cornered. it never feels preachy din because the story speaks for itself and trusts the reader enough to draw their own conclusions. kaya ang dami kong “oo nga no?” moments habang binabasa ang story, because the realizations feel earned, not imposed.

i also believe jonaxx uses her pen to gently wake the younger generation to what’s happening in the philippines today. we all know sayuri will reach a point where she starts questioning what she once believed was always right, and that feels like a mirror to real life, especially for those who grew up with beliefs handed down by parents. at some point, you realize not everything you’re raised to believe has to stay as your final voice. you start thinking for yourself, and it becomes okay to disagree when something no longer sits right.

so sa mga nagsasabing bakit hindi nagvo-voice out si jonaxx when it comes to politics, i think this is her way of doing it. hindi yung puro “’wag niyong iboto si ganito” lang, but making readers understand things step by step through the story itself. mas tumatatak kasi kapag ikaw mismo ang napapaisip at unti-unting nakaka-realize.

10/10 yung made of scar. sobrang well balanced. it’s a bit heavy, but kai’s character brings in a playful energy that serves as a breather. galing mo, jonaxx!

FL’s mistakes are excused, but ML’s mistakes automatically make them undeserving and red flag

Isa sa mga napansin ko sa Wattpad: readers are often more biased toward the FL, kaya mas forgiving and tolerant karamihan sa flaws and mistakes ng mga FL. FLs are given more grace.

An FL can do almost everything wrong in a relationship known to man: make emotionally driven decisions, ghost the ML and disappear for years, hurt the ML physically, make flawed and misinformed choices, miscommunicate, push the ML away—yet sa mata ng mga nagbabasa ✨they are just a girl✨ or ✌️what a poor baby✌️ who deserves to be understood and be given a pass. Despite everything na pagdadaanan ni ML, deserve pa rin ng mga FL ng good treatment and unconditional love from the ML, and si FL pa din ang pinaka-deserving maging endgame ni ML regardless.

But an ML does the same things, it becomes a completely different story. One mistake, one wrong choice of word, one bad move, one wrong or misinformed decision, one lapse in judgment—red flag na agad si ML at hindi na agad deserving. End of discussion.

She needed space, she was hurting.
• Nang ghost si ML? He should’ve known better. Buti pa si 2nd lead, never iniwan si FL.

• Nakipag-break si FL kay ML dahil sa nakita niya without communicating first? Understandable. Nasaktan siya sa nakita niya. Affected decision-making niya.
• Nakipag-break si ML kay FL dahil sa nakita niya without communicating first? Invalid. Immature. Impulsive. Bakit hindi muna nakipag-usap? Nagpapadala sa emosyon.

• Avoidant si FL? Trauma response. Baka sa family issues growing up.

There’s a noticeable difference talaga in how people respond to flawed characters depending kung lalaki or babae.

And sadly, dahil sobrang taas ng expectations ng maraming readers (na mostly babae) sa MLs, parang wala na talagang mahahanap ngayon na hindi lang basta “accessories” ng FLs, but actual characters na may sariling goals and depth.

Inksteady shines more outside her box.

I’ve read all her books except Taming the Waves, Loving the Sky, and Could Have Been But Never Was. She gained popularity through books centered on mental health, yet I think she’s more driven when she’s writing about something else entirely.

Hindi ko na tinuloy ang College series because CTS became too much of a cryfest for me. Same with DOS, though Calix and Vina are better characters. Her writing improved in the Losers series, so I was able to continue even if I wasn’t really invested in Carsen and Mari’s stories. They were good naman, pero wala pa ring masyadong impact for me. Those were my expectations going into Mill’s story—parang “yet another Wattpad book” vibe.

However, I was genuinely surprised and hooked. Ibang-iba yung atake niya rito. She usually writes emotionally reserved girls, and the conflicts often revolve around miscommunication on both sides. Pero hindi si Juancho at Mill. Mill was truly a star from beginning to end, and she didn’t forgive easily either. Juancho knew exactly what went wrong between them and how to fix it, yet he intentionally chose to become the villain in her life. Iba siya sa other male leads who hurt their girls unintentionally, most of the time. Other boys would also pursue their girls relentlessly hanggang sa bumigay. Juancho tried that too, but when he realized that his presence was hurting her, his answer was to step away. Then when he approached her again, he was careful and matched her pace. I think si Juancho rin yung pinaka-secretly involved kay Mill during the breakup among all the male leads, he never truly left or forgot her.

As for the story itself, halos wala nang mental health themes sa WWIW. It’s more political and centered on seeking justice. Mas lumabas yung talent ni author dito. I honestly believe this is her best work so far. The settings are more diverse, the scenes feel richer, and the emotional tug-of-war is far more entertaining. The leads proved why they deserved to be the main characters of the story. They never shied away from their faults, but their sacrifices and strengths were far greater.

I also like the dynamics in DOS: finding and sharing peace and happiness within themselves. But it still became too much of a cryfest because of the dramatic conflicts.

why do people look down on wattpad books?

so i came across a post a few weeks ago that stuck inside my mind complaining as to why the filipino books available on bookstores are only wattpad books.

i mean i get it in a way considering napakadaming indie authors in this country na deserve ma recognize. pero punong puno na ako sa mga taong nag lolook down sa wattpad books as if they are any less.

Why Do New Wattpad Writers And Their Stories Sucks?

* Too Dramatic:
I noticed this most of the time. Siguro ang mindset nila is kapag nakakaiyak mas pag-uusapan or they will get the title of "The Most Painful Writer".

* Too many plot twist
More plot twist + More shocking moment = Mas pag-uusapan. Which is I think mali.

*Too Erotic
This is really the new meta. Bed scenes helps to spice up the story, pero mostly sa mga story ngayon umiikot lang talag sya sa spg part. Kaunting sagutan, sex agad.

*Dark Romance
Everyone labels it as dark romance to justify abuse. But keep in mind that just because the Ml hit the Fl, it does not automatically make it dark romance. That's not what dark romance is, it has specific elements that make it one.

*Too long
May word count ba sa wattpad? na you will only be able to save and post the chapter if nahit ang word count? Kasi there's a lot of wattpad stories na masyadong maraming sinasabi per chapter na hindi naman nakakatulong sa progress ng story. Masyadong mahaba, wala namang sense kaya nakakasawa.

*Reader pleaser
So, it feels pilit ang story, hindi makita ang flow kasi hinihintay pa kung anong trend for readers and their reaction.

Which plot do you dislike or plot that doesn't make sense to you?

A lead character who is terminally ill. (Wala na bang iba? Yun na yun? very hindi pinag-isipan for me. It is giving 'lagay ko ito para sounds dramatic'. Then biglang gagaling or magpapakamatay din si other lead. Darling, no one could have done it better than She's Dating the Gangster.)

Fl and Ml breaks apart when another woman appears and claim that she is pregnant. Threatens the man that she will kill the unborn child unless he married her and breaks up with the Fl. (Duh! very stupid pwede naman ipaDNA and don't tell me pwedeng dayain ang DNA.

(Ganun ba kabobo karakter?

I would rather read a plotless story or a drama-free one than this type of plot, which feels forced just to create drama or a climax.
