Getting Pixel 11 effectively for free

I'm trading in my Pixel 10 Pro XL for a Pixel 11 Pro and getting it effectively for free. The 256 GB Pixel 11 Pro costs $1,099.

After applying my $125 Google Play Gold discount ($1,099 − $125 = $974) and trading in my Pixel 10 Pro XL for $700 ($974 − $700), my upfront out-of-pocket cost is $274.

I'm also getting 10% back via Google One ($80) plus a $200 Google Store credit ($80 + $200 = $280 in total credit). Since the $280 in credits exceeds the $274 out-of-pocket cost ($274 − $280 = -$6), the upgrade is completely free in effective value.

Did not like the new updates but since I am getting one for free, I am taking it.

Edit: For everyone who is asking what I would do with the Google store credits, I am planning to get a Fitbit air for my mom. And I might upgrade my 5 year old earbuds or will use it for Pixel 12 given Google continues their generous release promos.

Can we deactivate the AI modification on zoomed pictures ?

Hi, I'm looking into buying a pixel 10 Pro but I tried taking some pics in a shop and it turned out I really disliked the AI treatment when you zoom too much. I'm talking about the "spaghetti writing" and the weird texture.

For example I took a picture of an ad at the bottom of the shop and instead of letting the text blurred, the phone tried to reproduce some letters and in turned into an absolute garbage like in the early years of generative AI

I couldn't test it outdoors ofc and I'm afraid it would have the same unnatural feeling.

Also I'm talking about x20 zoom and beyond, so maybe there is a cap in terms of quality that we shouldn't really cross ? What are you guys feelings about the pixel 10 pro camera and the ai treatment ?

Thank you :)

GCam – SGCam V24 patched to launch straight into Photo Sphere (Pixel 10)

Google dropped Photo Sphere from the Pixel camera, so I patched an old port to get it back.

GCam360 is Shamim's SGCAM_8.5.300.XX.10_STABLE_V24, modified to open directly in Photo Sphere with the other modes hidden. On the Pixel 10 photo and video are broken in this build anyway — Photo Sphere works because it runs on the old Lightcycle path, not the HDR+ pipeline. On Pixels that SGCam supports the full mode list is kept, switchable in settings.

Installs alongside the stock camera (com.shamim.cam). Signed with my own key, so it's not Shamim's build — all credit for the mod goes to him.

APK + the exact smali patches: https://github.com/elbrutalo/gcam-pixel10/releases/latest

Settings > Battery... questions

Pixel 9 Pro XL.

When I go to 'Battery' it tells me I have 89% battery capacity compared to new. That's good I guess so far.

The issue is when I then go to "Battery Health Tips". All 4 options when clicked upon come up in Japanese. I don't read Japanese. Plain old English would be fine.....

Is this a setting I can change, or does everyone get Japanese when you click on these options?

If it's just me, how exactly do I change the language to English.

Is Pixel 10 Pro XL worth buying?

Hello everyone,

I'm considering buying a new phone, and looking for the pixel experience coming from a Xiaomi.

I found the Pixel 10 Pro XL 256gb just under 800€ european market, is it worth buying it considering that I won't spend 1300€+ fore the new 11.

Any thoughts/advices?

4k 60fps with HDR works with bug?

I was playing around with the video settings and it didn't let me pick HDR first with 4k and 60 fps. When I switch to FHD and set 60 HDR, then switch to 4K, it works. Is this a bug?

Is this Pixel 10 → Pixel 11 upgrade deal actually worth it? $149 Pixel 10 + $500 trade-in + $250 preorder bonus

I just bought the Pixel 10 Obsidian (128 GB) from Mint Mobile for $149 a few days ago, and I’m now seeing this Pixel 11 preorder promotion on the Google Store.

On paper, this seems like a really good upgrade opportunity. Since I only paid $149 for the Pixel 10, getting $500 in trade-in value + $250 preorder credit + $100 in Google Store credit could make the Pixel 11 a pretty significant upgrade for relatively little money. My main hesitation is whether I’d actually qualify for the trade-in and whether the savings are worth the hassle of switching phones again.

My phone is still in basically perfect condition with a case and screen protector. If I can get the full $500 trade-in value, would this make the Pixel 11 a “super worth it” upgrade?

I also have a couple of questions:

  1. Will Google accept my Mint Mobile Pixel 10 for trade-in if it is currently carrier-locked? It should automatically unlock after 60 days of usage on Mint, and I currently have about 35 days left until it unlocks.
  2. If the phone needs to be unlocked first, would it be better to wait until then?
  3. Even if the deal is as good as it looks, is it worth going through the process of backing everything up, resetting the phone, shipping the trade-in, and setting up another phone again so soon?

Basically, I’m trying to figure out whether this is actually an unusually good deal or if the hassle/eligibility requirements make it less worthwhile.

Is this P11Pro deal worth it?

I can get the P11Pro 256 GB and Watch 5 45 mm wifi for $172 after trade-in, pre-order, and all discounts. Currently rocking 10 Pro XL 256 GB and OnePlus watch 2. Is it worth it?

Mainly asking cuz I have $292 in Google store cred expiring at the end of the month. I get the 11 series is a sucky upgrade, but I can't think of anything else I can use the credit on that I'd want (I have a good tablet, accessories, earbuds, etc. already). I could get the 512 GB version for $268 to mitigate the RAM downgrade?

The only other alternative I can think of is using the $292 credit towards another year of the higher tier Gemini plan that I got for free with my 10 Pro XL purchase (I don't believe you get another year of free Gemini Pro with the 11 series). Is that possible or can this credit only be used with Google hardware?

P10 pro spicy battery

The wife came home complaining of really short battery life. First thing I checked was the battery health, and for any apps not optimized. No issues found and 100% health. I watched it go from 87% > 5% in less than 30min just sitting on the table. I went to charge it and noticed it was hot to touch and found this.

UPDATE: The Google Hardware Support Team has graciously stepped in and covered the replacement of the swollen battery.

19 years with Apple and now switching to Pixel.

Hi folks, I’m 100% making the switch after almost 20 years of using the iPhone. Something inside me wants to escape this controlled Apple ecosystem. I know for some I may sound “extra” because it’s just switching a phone but I’m kind of curious how the transition from iOS to Android? Will the learning curve be major? How safe are Pixel phones? I travel overseas a lot and have never had an issue of hacking or malware. Also, how are the Pixel watches as I will need to replace my Apple Watch.
