Plaud MCP integration with ChatGPT: Access to audio, but no actual audio analysis?

I've been testing the Plaud integration with ChatGPT via MCP, and while it's definitely a promising step, I've run into a pretty significant limitation.

ChatGPT can access my recordings, retrieve the transcripts, summaries, and even get a direct download URL for the original audio. However, it can't actually listen to or analyze that audio. This means we're still limited to text-based analysis, missing things like tone of voice, emotions, laughter, interruptions, and the overall dynamics of a conversation.

I was hoping to use it to analyze group discussions, not just what people said, but how they said it and interacted with each other. It feels like we're so close to something really powerful, yet having access to the actual audio without being able to process it seems like a huge missed opportunity.

Is this a limitation of the current MCP integration, ChatGPT itself, or am I missing something?

What AI note taking apps are you using for meetings?

I've been trying a few AI note taking tools lately because i'm tired of going back through long meetings to find small details.

I've tried a few different ones and noticed they vary quite a bit in transcription quality, summaries and how they handle longer meetings.

For people using Plaud what do you like most about it compared with other note taking tools?

I'm mainly interested in accuracy, long meetings and how useful the summaries actually are.

Why doesn't Plaud remember my voice? Every transcript is "Speaker 1, Speaker 2…"

One frustration I keep hitting: every transcript labels me as "Speaker 1" (or 2, or 3) instead of recognising me as the owner. I'd happily do a voice enrollment or onboarding step so it knows who I am. I'm fairly sure I already did one, but it doesn't seem to remember me across recordings.

Has anyone got this working reliably?

  • Is there a voiceprint or speaker profile setting I've missed?
  • Does it only apply to new recordings, or can it relabel old ones?
  • Does it work differently on the app versus the web?

Any tips appreciated, because renaming speakers on every recording is getting old.

Found a Plaud Note Pro on a plane, trying to return it

Dear all,

I found a Plaud Note Pro while disembarking from a flight in Poland, and I would like to do my best to return it to its rightful owner. It may have been left behind by someone who got off the same plane at the airport where I boarded.

I found the device just before disembarking and asked around to see if anyone was looking for it, but without success. I then tried to hand it over to the flight attendant, who advised me to take it to Lost and Found. Unfortunately, I had a very tight connection and would not have made my next flight in time if I had done so. I also asked the airline's desk staff whether they could take care of it, but they were unable to help.

Is there any way to identify the owner of the Plaud Note Pro, perhaps through its serial number or by connecting it to my phone? Even an email address would be enough to help me get in touch with them.

I have already contacted Plaud Support, explained the situation, and provided the device's serial number. However, I was wondering whether anyone here might have any other suggestions.

As a last resort, I will be returning to the same airport next week anyway (travelling for work), where I can hand the device over to Lost and Found. My only concern is whether they would be able to match it to a claim that may already have been filed earlier this week.

Thank you in advance for any advice or suggestions!

I built an open-source n8n template that turns every Plaud recording into a classified note in your Drive and CRM (uses the official Plaud MCP)

Got my Plaud this week and the first thing I wanted was to get my notes out of the app automatically. Native integrations are still listed as "coming soon", and the Zapier route is pretty limited unless you pay for Zapier: no webhooks, no audio file, no recording ID, and I also ran into a timezone offset on the dates.

I run everything on n8n, so I built my own pipeline. My first idea was a Zapier relay into n8n, but Plaud now has an official MCP server (https://mcp.plaud.ai/mcp) and n8n can call MCP servers directly from a workflow with the MCP Client node. No middleman, and you get everything: transcript, Plaud summary and the audio.

**What it does**

- Every 15 minutes, n8n lists your new recordings through the Plaud MCP server and fetches the transcript, the Plaud AI summary and the audio link

- One LLM call (no tools, no agent) reads the transcript plus your calendar events at the same time, and classifies the note: client, prospect, internal, personal or noise. It also writes a title, a summary, a short CRM note and the next actions

- Then plain n8n nodes do the work: the note is saved as Markdown in the right folder (one sub-folder per client or prospect), added as a note on the matching company in your CRM, the audio is backed up, and you get a recap in Slack

**Why no agent**

I didn't want an AI agent with write access to my CRM, driven by whatever was said in a meeting. So the LLM only returns a JSON decision, and n8n executes it. The CRM side only *adds a note*, and only when exactly one company matches. Things like "move the deal to Proposal sent" are listed in the Slack recap as suggestions, and I apply them by hand.

**Pick your tools**

I turned it into a template with swappable adapters:

- Storage: Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox

- CRM: Attio, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Twenty, or no CRM

- LLM: OpenRouter by default, any n8n chat model works

**Things I learned about the Plaud MCP, in case you build your own**

- Auth is OAuth with dynamic client registration. n8n's MCP OAuth2 credential handles it

- Tool results come back as text with a short preamble before the JSON, so you need to extract the JSON yourself

- `start_at` is UTC but has no timezone suffix. Parse it as UTC or every note is shifted by your offset

- The audio link from `get_file` is signed and expires after about an hour, so download it in the same run

- A recording has no transcript until Plaud has transcribed it, so the workflow waits and retries

Requirements: n8n 2.x (self-hosted or cloud) with the MCP Client node and Data tables. On n8n 2.x, remember to publish the sub-workflows, or you get "Workflow is not active".

I've tested the full chain end to end with Google Drive + Attio. The other adapters follow the same contracts, so if you run it with OneDrive, Dropbox, HubSpot, Pipedrive or Twenty, I'd love to hear how it goes. Issues and PRs welcome.

Privacy note: the transcript goes to the LLM provider you configure. With OpenRouter you can restrict routing to zero data retention providers.
