HOLY CRAP THE BATTLES ARE TERRIBLE!

Oh my goodness, I don't remember any other pokemon series, even the original kanto series having this terrible of battles. I'm on like Ash vs Bea 's 3rd battle and HOLY CRAP they are TRASH. The battles I saw in sinnoh, battle frontier, hoenn, etc, are WAYYYY better dude. I remember sun and moon battle being cinematic af too.

PS: the problem is not the animation, it's probably just the chereography or something, like the pokemons are waiting for ash's permission to move. Ash also gotten worse as a trainer somehow. This truly feels like a video game turn based freaking battle bro. I did see a decent looking gigantamax battle on tiktok so maybe that'll be good but it's not looking sweet rn man.

pokemon be screwing up their mc's final arc with bad battles, unnecessary characters and a freaking co-protagonist

What are your thoughts now that Misty can travel freely whenever?

For years and years I suffered because Misty was tied to the Gym out of obligation while May, Dawn, Iris, and Serena were free to travel to their hearts content in order for them to reach their own goals. While for Misty, the sole reason she returned to the Gym was out of obligation at the end of Johto, not wanting to leave in the first place later on staying though due to her sisters incompetence. (AG-XY) She was almost like a Cinderella like character in a way...

Becoming a Gym Leader was NEVER her dream in any way shape or form. Misty's story NEVER received closure with the writers leaving many things open around it, like her goal of becoming a Water Pokemon Master/one of strongest Water Trainers in the world (which you clearly can't become at the Gym) And let's be honest, if ANYONE was capable of actually journeying without Ash, it's Misty. She literally WAS already journeying well BEFORE Ash started his first day as a trainer (she was already between Viridian and Pallet when she first met Ash...)

By SM you could tell that the writers made Misty's sisters competent again, (aleluya!) but it wasn't until MPM where Misty finally gained enough inspiration from watching Ash's battle with Leon that she too now set out on a journey AGAIN to become a Water Pokemon Master. She was originally just going to go off by herself, and only serendipitously decided to join Ash after Clauncher and Corphish.

As a huge Misty fan, the fact that Misty is now free from the Gym means that she can finally travel freely to pursue her goal... just like the other pokegirls... and that brings me so much joy and happiness...!! FINALLY Masamitsu Hidaka and Takeshi Shudo's worst mistake has been fully undone...!!

Does anyone else feel like the Japanese version of Pokémon just hits harder than the English dub?

I want to start this off by saying this isn’t meant to hate on the English dub at all. I actually grew up watching the English version of Pokémon, so there’s a lot of nostalgia there, and I still respect everyone who prefers it.
That said… after watching the Japanese version, I honestly find it difficult to go back.
For me, it’s not just the language—it’s the overall presentation.
One of the biggest examples is Pokémon XYZ. Whenever Ash (Satoshi) and Greninja synchronize into Ash-Greninja (Satoshi-Gekkouga), the Japanese version often plays the opening theme or an insert song during those climactic battles. It makes those moments feel absolutely epic. Combined with Rica Matsumoto’s performance as Satoshi, it gives me goosebumps every time.
Meanwhile, in the English dub, those scenes usually use orchestral background music instead. It’s not bad by any means, but for me it doesn’t have the same emotional payoff. The Japanese version just feels like it’s saying, “This is the moment we’ve been building toward.”
I also feel like the original voice actors really go all out during emotional scenes, evolutions, and big battles. The intensity, the shouting, the emotion—it all feels incredibly raw and exciting.
Again, this isn’t me saying the English dub is bad. I know a lot of people (myself included) have fond memories of it, and I completely understand why people prefer watching in their native language. Everyone enjoys anime differently, and that’s perfectly okay.
I’m just curious…
Does anyone else feel this way after watching both versions? Or is it just me? I’d genuinely love to hear opinions from both dub and sub fans, as long as we keep it respectful.

How emotional were you at the end of this episode?

This was the where I felt most of my emotions. Its not because I am XY/XYZ fan, the reason is after every goodbye seen , I felt very emotional connection but something was different in XYZ.
The animation, storyline, character design, Romance, Companions, Mega evolution, villain and 3-D battle animation. When everybody left in plane and Clemont and Bonnie were just watching , it was really emotional.
The way journey started in XY , all met , friendship buildup and in the end the song while leaving . Made it best one of the best seasons.
After this I never felt same connection with other seasons , especially SM and Journeys.
Story can be good but this season and song was just emotions.

  1. XYZ
    2.XY
    3.DP - Sinnoh League Victors
  2. DP - other seasons
  3. Indigo
  4. SM
    7.Battle Frontier

I made a possession play about Pokemon

https://pokehex.lovable.app/

I just made a new game inspired by a football game, but now it’s Pokemon!

• Select a free hex and type a Pokémon that matches its category.
• If your Pokémon also matches neighboring hexes, you capture (or steal) them too.
• You have 30 seconds per turn — timeout passes the turn.
• When all 31 hexes are claimed, most territory wins.

Go go go!!!

Horizons Love!

I Love Pokemon Horizons and all the characters in it! I hope that they keep the brave Olivine and all the characters for the next anime because Ash was only supposed to be the protagonist for the first season. Anyway I want to hear what you all thought of Pokemon horizons so far since its been 2 year since it first came out on March 7th 2024!

Edit: Sorry about the first image its supposed to be a before and after of Liko's design
