Pokemon Recharged Emerald review

Pokemon Recharged Emerald is a really fun rom hack that feels like a love letter to the OG Emerald. The story stays completely faithful to the original which is a good thing if you're looking for that nostalgic experience, but the move tutor is significantly expanded so you can run a much wider variety of movesets for pretty much any mon you choose.

The graphics look modern and fresh, and having your lead mon follow you around is a nice touch. A small but fun detail I noticed is that when entering a building your mon goes into its ball and you can actually see what type of Pokéball it's in. Tiny detail but adds a lot of charm.

One QoL feature I really appreciated is that you don't need to teach your mons HMs. If a mon is capable of using an HM move the option just pops up automatically which saves a ton of moveslot headaches.

If you want the classic Emerald experience with better graphics, improved move tutors and some small but meaningful QoL additions, this is absolutely worth playing.

My standout mons were Alakazam and Milotic. Alakazam always moved first and hit like a truck, genuinely carried me through wattson and flannery. Milotic was a mon I'd never used before and it surprised me, incredibly tanky and hits hard at the same time. Solo'd Phoebe with her lol. It was a bit confusing figuring out how to evolve Feebas but worth it. From what I did, using 6 Kelpsy berries and 6 Bluk berries worked but don't quote me on that.

[Pokemon Crystal Legacy]

Yet another journey in Johto.

First time I used Slowking, pretty balanced mon to use at the league.

[Pokemon Project : Pi]

Really enjoyed project : Pi, one of the most polished hacks I've played. Great new UI, QoL improvements and curated pokedex. Great sprite work too and the recoloured shinies made putting this colour themed team together a lot of fun. Thanks for the hard work u/FrostishByte 💯

[Multiple Games]: 3 Gen 3 Playthroughs

Revisited the Gen 3 games and they're so good.
After playing FRLG, these maps feel a lot more vibrant. The pics in order are Sapphire, Ruby, and then Emerald, each with with a different starter. The Swampert team was objectively the best but the Combusken team was the most fun.

Pokemon LeafGreen Overgrown review

Leafgreen Regrown is a ROM hack of LeafGreen that keeps the classic Kanto experience intact while adding a bunch of QoL improvements, learnset changes, and most importantly trade evolutions now trigger via level up which is a huge deal for solo players.

Played through on hard mode which means level caps, set battle mode, and no items during battle, which made the experience genuinely challenging especially toward the end.

Breezed through the Elite Four but the Champion gave me real trouble due to the level gap, cause my mons were around mid 50s while his were in the 60s lol.

If you're looking for a hack that stays faithful to the original story while smoothing out the rough edges of the OG LeafGreen, this is exactly that. Don't expect a completely overhauled experience, but do expect a cleaner more enjoyable version of a classic.

Recommended for anyone wanting to replay Kanto with a bit more challenge and convenience.

[Fool's Gold] Mono-Poison ☣️

(Completed 6/12/26) Even though Fool's Gold still has the base HM mechanics, it is still an incredible hack. This mono-run was quite enjoyable.

Fighting team 💪

Was easier than expected!

Which Mon is your favourite out of this team?

Mine is Poliwrath because he looks awesome and is powerful in game!

Also I know Kangaskhan isn't fighting type but he naturally knows a few punches 😁

And I know Poliwrath is duel but yeah there aren't any more pure fighting types which is crazy considering there are 151 in gen 1.

[Pokémon HeartGold] My Hall of Fame Team!

I recently decided to play my very first video game, Pokémon HeartGold, but with a bit of a twist. Usually, I plan a team out from the very beginning, but this time, I let a six sided dice decide my starter, and I adapted from there! Through lots of grinding, shenanigans with the Pokéwalker, and a copy of Platinum on standby for trades evolutions, we'll be going to Kanto as Champions, all on my original copy from 2010!

This was a really challenging, but fun team to manage. Shoutouts to the dedicated HeartGold and SoulSilver Subreddit for helping me narrow down my choices!

[Pokemon Nova]

Game was fun to play clearly on the easy side thought, but I liked the formula change it was interesting (thought repetitive) and the story was pretty "fun" too. Tried to make a team with a color theme that would fit Ultra Megalopolis and Lami and I like it a lot! And yes Poipole don't need to evolve, Poipole punch ultra hard anyway!

[Pokèmon Nova]

(Please ignore the video I was watching in the background)

Such a fun ride it was.

At first, I didn't believe that I was going to keep Lanturn, but after seeing how awesome it was to use, I couldn't leave my boy back.

It was also my first time using a Mega Gollisopod, pretty awesome mega.

Aegislash was practically my ace throughout the entire game. That steel + ghost typing is just so darn good, and his moves were equally as awesome, probably my favourite mon to use in this game.

Overral, Pokèmon Nova is such a refreshing experience which feels different from any other Pokèmon fan games that I've played and completed. The variety of avaible pokèmon was super cool, making the team building aspect a fever dream for any pokèmon fan. I admit it, my team is quite basic, but I still had a lot of fun using it and optimising their synergies.

I 100% reccomend the game to anyone who hasn't played it before, it's a blast with an awesome story, and just as awesome dialogues, characters, etc. It did get repetitive sure, but it was still super awesome.

My score is a solid 8½/10

[Pokemon Pearl] I beat Pokemon Pearl Version with a team nobody has used before!

Due note this wasn’t just a ‘use bad pokemon’ challenge, afterall, those teams have been used by plenty of people!

(I did this challenge in Pokemon Gold and Emerald a while ago, and I decided to do it again in this game version!)…

And also, sense Pokemon Diamond and Pearl share a main dex number as the original game, here’s what the team would look like in those games

Grotle - Ivysaur

Vespiquen - Psyduck

Medicham - Dewgong

Haunter - Weepinbell

Pelipper - Staryu

Steelix - Clefairy

[POKEMON PROJECT PI] Permanent Mega Mawile (or Jawile as it's called) is Busted.

Jeff the Garchomp
Nomnom the Jawile
Spice the Scovillain
Gemma the Sablite
Dior the Aromatisse
Taxi The shiny Corviknight

This hack was pretty fun. regular Fire Red but with some different pokemon. picks up at Erica. Yes that's a permanent Mega Evolved Sableye and Mawile. DEFINITELY recommending the hack.

[Emerald Imperium] Completed all 18 Monotypes randomized without repeating Pokemon or Abilities. Guess the most OP team.

Each run used a scaled randomizer for Pokemon and abilities. Legendaries in Littleroot Town are no fun.

I did the same thing for Radical Red a couple years ago, and when I found this game, figured I should run the idea back.

Things worth sharing: Rock, Ice, Steel, and Dragon were the toughest to get going. There were multiple runs that just couldn't get past any of the bosses up to Brawley. But we made it through.

A few shout out MVPs that hard carried some runs:

Huge Power Kingambit on Steel

Anger Shell Volcarona on Fire

Shadow Shield Hisui Samurott on Dark

I'll let you guys decide which teams were the best, and which were the hardest to bea the E4 and Champ with.
