The QOL updates have made this one of my most enjoyable runs ever. Turned off Natures.

Also, never used an Entei but got it with a Quick Ball MY FIRST TRY!!! It was fate 🤩

Pure random shiny team (except gyarados)

The mechanics on difficult forced me to play different styles instead of my old way of “all offense” strategies. I EV trained shuckie with power split, toxic, rest, and infestation and had a lot of fun with that.

Alrighty! Finally managed to beat Fire red somehow ive been a pokefan for 13 years but ive NEVER played some/most/many pokemon games fully WITHOUT cheats soo its about time i play thru gen 1 - 9 [Sadly I am NEVER playing the gameboy gen 1 and 2 games because they hurt my eyes] anyways here's my team for fire red!

FIYAH - Flareon i received as a eevee from the gift

Ponka - Raichu I caught as a pikachu in viridian forest

Buck - Nidoking caught near mt. Moon and my ace throughout my playthrough

AAAEEERRROOO - Aerodactyl I revived and added to my team simply because its my 2nd favorite fossil (first is archeops)

Tortle - Blastoise my starter and was ALMOST released my younger brother as a wartortle

BIRDO - Articuno MVP for lance

Alright next up either Emerald (my first pokemon game when i was 5) or hgss probably hgss

One of the best gen 1 romhacks of all time. Brand-new region, custom types, PSS split, Gen 2+ pokemon...everything was fantastic, except level curve. Recommended if you're a big fan of OG pokemon games.

Just hit the Hall of Fame on my second Lazarus run (Hard Mode). Team ended up: Mega Greninja, Mega Tyrantrum, Aegislash, Incineroar, Alolan Raichu, and Noctowl.
Genuinely proud of this roster. Built it around a simple rule, two physical attackers, two special attackers, one dedicated wall, one flex piece, and it held up the whole way. Three separate Mega options meant I could shape the team differently depending on the fight, rather than being locked into one gameplan every battle.

Have to mention the shiny Tyrunt I found on Marmaro Island, completely random encounter, and maybe my 2nd or 3rd shiny in my entire life. I’ve been playing since before shinies even existed, so that one genuinely stopped me in my tracks. Became my Mega Tyrantrum and never looked back.

Alolan Raichu deserves a special shoutout, Surge Surfer plus Electro Ball was unbelievable, hitting stupidly hard and fast almost every time it switched in. Noctowl ended up leading my team most battles, Hypnosis into Hex was deleting things before they got a turn. Incineroar played a similar role to Greninja, not needed every fight, but exactly the mon I wanted at crunch time.

And then there’s Aegislash. Absolutely blew me away, strongest Pokémon on the team by a distance, incredible moveset, running the classic “make it the slowest thing on the field” King’s Shield strategy. Tank a hit in Shield Forme, swing hard in Blade Forme, King’s Shield resets you before the next hit lands. Will use him again wherever I can.
Planned this team properly rather than catching as I go like my first run, so Hard Mode felt noticeably easier this time, but enjoyed the process even more because of it.
This is roughly my tenth ROM hack this year, after playing my first ever (this exact game) at the end of last year. Working through a curated list of 60+ hacks and fan games that’ll probably take years, with new ones getting added all the time. Getting back into Pokémon after 15 years away, and enjoying it more with every run.

So much fun with this one. So many pokemon that ended up with great color schemes. Ended up choosing my favorites.

Mudkip was my starter and found Anorith first, then Tropius and Cyndaquil. Beldum and Trapinch were eggs I got later on when I saw how cool their fully evolved forms are.

Honestly, Tropius was my MVP, the glue that held the team together. With Drought, I could guard against water attacks and Swampert could use one-turn Solar Beams.

This game is an extremely challenging enhancement of Fire Red where the gym battles have you fight in three on three battles instead of your entire team versus the gym leader’s entire team.

The game is extremely generous with TM’s and battle items cause you will need them. The boss fights are hard and the AI is really smart.

The hardest battles include Brock’s fight(was so difficult, that players had to request that the dev put oddish and bellsprout in viridian forest to give Charmander users a chance to win)

Giovanni in the rocket game corner’s Nidoqueen, and Tauros are insanely stacked with good moves and tough strategies.

Erika’s Tangela, Leafeon and Vileplume were nearly unbeatable until I had Fearow get Fly and then after many attempts and learning how she was using her Tangela’s strategy helped me get the timing right to stay alive long enough to finally take it down.

After that, the game gets easier. Fearow having a dark type attack for the rival’s Alakazam always came in clutch against him, and by the time I got Starmie the game got way more manageable.

It’s a fun Kanto romp especially if you’re wanting a game that makes you focus on your strategies but you don’t want Radical Red level analysis paralysis. It’s a good middle ground between that level of difficulty and vanilla Kanto.

I waited a bit for the hack to get updated, and that wait was most certainly worth it. I'm quite excited for the future of GBA Johto projects with this existing and being incredibly well-constructed, allowing the region to stand on its own without Kanto, especially with how the game adds innates to each Pokémon after they reach Level 75, 85, and 95. I also quite enjoy the dynamic difficulty options. Quite a good hackrom overall.

Blaziken was the team's mega.
