I didn't really need more Ork bikes, but I had a cool idea for Orks riding in giant wheels.

Still have to work on the riders.

Cereal box cardboard, plastic tubing, and the ring for the wheels cut from denture cup lids.

Working on some more OPR Battle Brother proxies, this time on 28mm base to go with the 40mm big bots I made previously.

My earlier post on the Goblin Artillery got a lot of love. The design was very much Goblins using whatever scrap they had on hand to build them and they looked incredibly ramshackle. As a concept it was cool, but when I started to think about painting them, they were like 50% tires and didn't look like anything else in my army.

I took some inspiration from the classic GW Ork Buggy and added wheel covers and a front armor plate, then a ton of Bolts to make them properly Orky.

It's a pair of food containers with scrap cardboard and spare official bits + a box of Gretchin I got for flair and when he's finished he's gonna be my biggest stompiest child

I'm looking for some advice on painting better rust (and damage) effects.

I futzed around with this attempt way too much and sort of lost the plot and got discouraged and gave up.

So I'm hoping to get some advice on how to render rust, dirt, and damage better.

When you absolutely don't want to spend $30+ a model on Goblin crewed artillery you have your Mekanik whip up a few.

These are made from Pen parts, Dollar Tree Toy Wheels, scraps of plastic, patience and glue.

The barrels tilt back to be used as a mortar type weapon, or pointed forward for Kannon mode.

It seems like every time I post a work in progress build there is inevitably at least one person who comments that it would look better with paint. Well, this one is for you guys.

Turns out it's kan sized.

So, I made some modifications on the original template and scaled it down to about 30mm tall. The upper body is thinner. The original large outer shoulder pads are repurposed to be the shoulders and make the arms a bit longer. The tube for the breathing mask is made too big and should be further scaled down by maybe 25% to 50%. The blanket on top of the backpack is a bit rounder. The lower part of the trench coat is wider so it overlaps on the front and back. The shovel is moved to the belt. The shoes are replaced with a random anime paper model shoes. Finally a 25mm diameter base.

I found a Cadian guard template while looking for reference and built it on a larger scale. It has some nice weapon options that I suppose can be used by other guardsmen too.

I'm back with some more work on my Kill Team Volkus project. The sizes seem to be pretty accurate, +/- 1cm per piece.

I'm happy enough that I'm going to try a the Deadly Sniper Joint OPs out tomorrow.

I'm hoping to get some painting done soon, but I'm getting ready to move so it may be a while before I post another update.
