Pottstown people: this is one of those nights you’ll wish you went to 🤍

Fête en Blanc is coming back to Downtown Pottstown on Friday, September 11 from 6–9 PM at Smith Family Plaza, and if you’ve never been, the concept is pretty simple:

Wear white. Bring your dinner. Sit down with friends and neighbors. Enjoy live music. Spend a beautiful late-summer evening downtown.

Tickets are only $20, and your table, chair, and white linens are already provided.

Last year, around 750 people came out, and the whole plaza filled with people dressed in white. It’s one of those events that makes downtown feel completely different for a night—in the best way.

You can grab takeout from a local Pottstown restaurant, bring your own place setting, and make the evening as casual or fancy as you want.

Another nice piece: 11% of this year’s proceeds will benefit Pottstown’s fire companies.

If you’ve been saying, “We should do more things downtown,” this is a pretty good place to start.

Beware of “Seth Martin”

Hope this is allowed, I wanted to warn the Ladies (and gentlemen) of the Pottstown area of a man who claims his name is SETH MARTIN.

He claims to be 40 years old (update: found his dob is actually 1990), tall, slim, with dark features.

HE GOES TO CRUNCH FITNESS, he lives by Upland Square shopping center, and works for Bekins moving and storage.

He will tell you his dad just passed away, he moved here from Pittsburgh, doesn’t know anyone. He turns on the water works & cries how lonely he is and that he is a good Christian blah blah blah. FAKE NEWS.

He has a wife and an 11 year old outside of Harrisburg. He claims he is sober, he is again lying. He admitted to me via text (I have proof) he takes prescription pain pills and is a drinker. He just wants to creep on women for attention.

He gave all the warning flags that he is an active addict, but his charm (always called me sweetheart, honey) blinded me at first.

DO NOT BELIEVE A WORD THIS MAN TELLS YOU.

I WOULD STAY CLEAR OF HIM.

Thank you.

Edit: added more info

Event Interest Question

Good neighbors of Pottstown! I'm a productions professional who has worked around the area for over a decade. I've always had a dream of building the live events world in town because growing up here there was never anything to do. Now we have bars, a few venues, and a rising number of businesses to go to. There is a draw for folks to come and hang out.

So here are my questions: If someone organized an all day BYO music event 12am-10pm on a Saturday in Riverfront park featuring regional local performing acts, artist vendors, and charity organizations focused on the folks in the greater Montgomery County area: How much would you be happily willing to pay for all day wristband access to the event if you knew the majority of the admission goes to the event's costs and to pay the performers, not to line the organizers (in this case myself and some local events pros) pockets? As a business how much would you be willing to invest to have your name on the event? Would you provide more if it meant improving the lighting, sound, being able to secure food and drink vendors, and paying the artists more?

If the cover was $20 dollars for the full day, sponsorships started at $100, and vendors could sign up for a low cost table fee and NOT have to give up a cut of their earnings? Would you show up? Would you tell your friends to show up? What if there were twelve 30 minute sets from a variety of genres of bands, 10-15 minute variety acts between sets (drag, comedy, solo performers, side show acts), a one hour touring act headliner, a dozen or more local artisans, and the event was the first week of June?

None of this is real yet but all of it can be! This town is what WE make it.

Good cocktail bars?

Hi Pottstown!

My father in law wants to get into cocktails, and I'm looking for a place that is handy with the classics as well as fun seasonal creations. We would go anywhere between the Pottstown - Downingtown - Phoenixville triangle. I used to go to Manatawny, and I've been to Ratigan and Stave and Stable. I lean towards the fun cocktail of the day but he is looking more for "this is an example of an excellent daiquiri" type place. Any suggestions?
