Prius C

Bought a 2015 prius c as my first car. Had it for less then a month and im noticing just how sensitive the steering wheel is when I am turning, like the car wants to swerve. I have minimized my hand movements alot and it has helped but sometimes I still get a little annoyed. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have checked the alignment and it is good. I will also say driving with the windows down helps too but I think its because the car just feels more stable? Not sure.

Why are there three different Exact Fit filters?

The expensive one has activated charcoal, is it worth it? What’s the difference between the other two? OEM or aftermarket? Bosch makes a HEPA, K&N a washable reusable. Or a $4 filter from Aliexpress?

How bad is it?

I turned on the 2014 PriusC Four the other day and got this message…Lit up like a Christmas tree, so I ran the codes. I’ve already checked out the Green Bean options, but it’s also leaking oil in a couple spots (like $4k in repairs per the dealership). Is she worth saving at 194,500 miles? Still safe to drive around on gas-power only (I can feel the battery not kicking in)?? Thanks!

Wanna purchase a used 2015 c, but i think it needs a new hybrid battery

I found a 2015 Used Prius C three that I really like BUT after test driving it (and talking with some family who work on cars for a living) I'm pretty sure it's going to need a new hybrid battery.

It's at about 102.5k miles and rides really well on both eco and standard mode (might need brakes too but thats irrelevant to this specific question) But from what I've read - its around the timing that it would need the battery replaced or rebuilt - plus the car did have an alert that battery was getting/was low.

So!

Question is - if I can negotiate the price down so I can afford to get the battery replaced/rebuilt, is it safe to assume that with good and approriate upkeep that it would last me another 100k-200k miles? And is a good rebuild (or cell replacement or whatever it is - im not super hybrid-smart) a smart/decent alternative getting a replacement if the replacement is out of my budget?

I'm planning on trading in or selling my current vehicle (est ~8k-11k value) and have ~2-3k more in savings i can dip into if I absolutely have to - but I don't want to go through all this trouble if its likely that the battery fix won't solve the problem long-term.. The car is listed at 9500$ which is way too much imo if it need battery work + brakes - but im happy to negotiate/argue the price down - just not sure what all feels reasonable in this situation. Should I just wait and find another car 😅

All keys lost bad 12 v ecu won’t communicate

Looking for some advice from anyone who's dealt with this before. 2012 Prius c
I lost all of my keys, and my Prius c sat for about 3–4 months while I was out of country . A locksmith came out, jumped the 12V battery, and tried programming some inexpensive aftermarket keys, but they couldn't get them to program. They said they were getting an ECU-related error.
I had it towed to the dealership. They also couldn't program a new key or get communication with the immobilizer/ECU. After some diagnostics, they told me they want another two hours of diagnostic time, but they're already saying I'll likely need a new immobilizer and smart key system. Their estimate is about $3,400 in labor plus over $1,400 in parts.
Before I spend that kind of money, has anyone experienced something similar? Is it worth trying:
Replacing the 12V battery with a brand-new OEM-quality battery?
Calling another locksmith that specializes in Toyota/Lexus all-keys-lost situations?
Sending the immobilizer/ECU out to be reset or reflashed instead of replacing it?
Could a weak or damaged 12V battery after sitting that long cause communication issues, or does this sound like the immobilizer/smart key ECU has actually failed?
I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations from people who've been through this. Thanks!

2009 Top display not working?

I installed a CarPlay system can anyone help me figure out why the top display no longer shows my battery flow, and when I go to AC controls, it says check connection to air conditioning or something like that.

I got 44.3km/l or 104mpg, I’m doubting if it’s accurate though?

I bought a Toyota Aqua 2017 from beforward japan in March with 49k mileage. Checked the battery the guy cleaned it and balance two cells after load test, said my battery is healthy just make sure it stays clean (fan, ac etc). I use 0w-16.

On the first ever tank after I got it , the shipper drove it from the Dar to Dodoma (I live in Tanzania 🇹🇿) like 420km, plus more city driving a week later it got 4 bars left with 572km like on the pic meaning i could get 900+km on full. But the range on the day I filled it up it read 670km only.

I filled the tank like 3 times already I just don’t know if thise range readings are accurate. Like the first tank was economical, the next ones still are but I really want it to read 800-900 range, plus the trip B (second tank) read 21km/l average and 26km/l first time.

Today driving from the station to my place like 4-5kms the dynamic avg kml read 44.3km/l that’s crazy and contradictory to the range the car gives. I don’t sit in traffic on my way to work, my city doesn’t have that much traffic but my daily driving usually doesn’t exceed 60kmh unless I’m going distant places (thrice) or overtaking.

My question is, Should I take those readings seriously?
Any way to reset the range readings for the car to get used to me? I’m planning on using Liquimoly Gasoline System Cleaner just to clean everything and see

All Fogged Up!

Latest upgrade for 2014 Prius C Two.. Long overdue fog light kit! w/LED bulbs

Bumper removal pretty straightforward through commonly available YouTube procedure.

Wiring depends on your kit type*. I opted for one with the most simplified circuit:

POS 12v from driver's side jump start fuse box location

NEG 12v to body

Inline fuse + relay to dash button (button always on - to complement neighboring always on USB port)

*some kits have an additional ignition power POS/NEG circuit to the button for ignition linked power to the button (button on and lights on only with ignition power)

Path of least resistance through firewall onto drivers footwell for behind the dash button wiring is through an existing grommeted hole for the hood release cable. A full-lock turn of the wheel plus a few clips off the driver's side fender liner is all takes to get to that sucker. Pull on the grommet, slide the last mile cabling in to make final connections.

Switch panel on dash is standard Toyota trim clips holding it in under the top dash piece.

Definitely a DIY-able project for weekend wrencher types, shadetree mechanics. Otherwise, if you're in or near Los Angeles and want me to upgrade or work on your Prius C, hit me up with a DM for inquiries on:

Dash USB ports

60 average mpg!

After using basic hypermiling techniques in fairly good California summer weather, I finally achieved an average of 60 mpg since my last oil change!

Not bad for a non-plugin with 173k on the odometer.

Prius C One back up camera

Hi everyone! My daughter has a 2015 Prius C One that didn’t come with a backup camera, and we’d really like to add one for safety. There are so many aftermarket options that it’s hard to know what’s actually worth buying.
If you’ve installed a backup camera on your Prius C, which one do you recommend? Did you go with a wired or wireless setup, and was the installation pretty straightforward? We’d love something with a clear picture that’s reliable without spending a fortune. Thanks in advance for any recommendations! 😊
