Consistency Issues!!!!!

Ok. I have no idea why, but I can’t seem to get 2 consistent shots out of my Move.

I follow all the usual advice: machine well up to temp, group head warmed and flushed between the shots (given ample time to come back to brew temp between shots) solid puck prep with WDT and self levelling tamper. Puck screen in IMS basket 19.5gms in for 36 out in 30ish seconds.

Using the manual process of holding the 2 shot button to control pre infusion. Preinfuse just until the shot is visible, pause for 4 then run the shot until I hit 36gms in roughly 30 seconds. Great. Do it all exactly the same but second shot just press the double shot button for it to do its pre programmed thing set only 10 mins ago, and I get 15gms at best before it says enoughs enough and finishes the cycle 😖. I can’t seem to get any consistency unless I manually pull the shot each time. What am I doing wrong? I want to be able to dial in so the wife can just press and play getting a half decent shot, but this seems impossible. 😣😣😣. Any help or insight greatly appreciated 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Move Power Switch failure (purchased Mid May 2026)

Well, I'd heard rumors of this being a thing on the Moves, but had also heard that they had the issue sorted out.

I guess I heard wrong.

I went to turn on my Move this morning and the Power button no longer stays depressed. If I hold it in I can see the lights come on and it start to turn on, but the moment I take pressure off the switch comes back out and everything shuts off.

Ugh.

I have a ticket created with Clive. I was really hoping not to have to wrench on this machine for a good long while.

Another handle… with pockets, sorry vents

I’d been thinking about adding a simple handle that also provided some ventilation. This is more of an alpha version as I have some more ideas if I were to print it again. Overall though I like the aesthetic. The handle is a great match for the machine but also the handle on the knock box. Sorry for the pic exposure by the way

What grinder is everyone using?

A fun, quick, this group poll for everybody.

Post what grinder your currently using and max 3 sentences on why that's your choice at the moment. (We can discuss under each response.)

I'm thinking of getting something new from my Sk40 mii coffee version.

I'm between a DF 64 gen 2 or a DF83V.

Pulled the trigger on a Move

Dialling it in is turning out to be a harder process than I thought. I'm using a lighter espresso bean with 19.5g. my grinder is nearly on the lowest setting, and I'm still pulling shots in under 25s. I'm using a spring loaded tamper set to 30lbs trying to minimize the variability... Not sure what else I can try other than adding a higher dose? 20g? 20.5g?

want to upgrade to Move; worried; anyone in Los Angeles willing to demo one?

I want to upgrade to the Move. I have a Sylvia, which I like in many ways, but as a single boiler is not ideal given the fact that I almost always make milk drinks and almost always two at a time. I'm concerned about spending so much and I would expect it to be without issues. But then I read about people's concerns about things like steam power and inconsistency, or inconsistency without spending a ton of time to let it warm up. I thought this forum was the best place to look for someone living in the Los Angeles area who might be so into the Move as to be willing to demonstrate it in use?

Stopped using the timer

Anyone else stop using the timer? I just set my double shot timer to max and start stop it when I think the shot is done. 3sec infusion 4sec pause and go.

My shot quality is significantly more consistent now.

New Profitec Move, new extraction challenge

Hi Folks,

I've had my Pprofitec for around 6 weeks, upgraded from a Gaggia Classic. I've really struggled to get consistent extractions using the stock basket and silicon spout. 18g dose, relatively fine grind, comparable to previous machine. Pucks come out wetter than I previously experienced with my Gaggia Classic.

I did have some success increasing the dose to 21 g, but this didn't seem appropriate for the basket and I was wired by lunch time.

Do people use the stock baskets? They look pretty nice. My only concern might be the tapered design to fit the spout. if I go bottomless is can be messy.

All advice welcome

Just received the atom 65

Atom 65w just came in and loving it so far, no more filling up the test tubes every week, family of 4 so I’m constantly filling up. Big difference in work flow

2nd shot questions

Hello people. Second week using my new machine.

For context, I usually have two latte-style drinks every morning —one for my SO and one for me.

Puck prep essentially comes down to

-18.3 g into the grinder. (Two spritz of water)

-WDT to spread everything out

-I use a depth leveler (spin it twice)

-Tamp with a spring-loaded MWH bomber

-Add a puck screen on top

The very first shot no problems essentially 30ish grams out in 30 seconds.

I do have PI turned on, with a 3 second PI and a 5 second pause and then a 25 second pull. No problems.

The second shot everything is as listed above.

Same beans, same grinder, same everything.

Second shot consistently pulls quicker. Usually have to stop it. For example this morning I had to stop at at 45 g with 5 seconds left. (Steaming my milk and was distracted).

I guess for additional details, I do have a Turin sk40 conical. (I'm considering upgrading)

The display on my machine does show 90C just like the first shot. So I don't really understand what I'm missing. You guys have any insight?

Worthy Upgrade

After 7 years of loyal service, many beans, two countries, several settings, one pump replacement and two JB Weld fixes later, the Breville is ready to rest. I thank you for the years of service. Now it's the Profitec era. The learning curve was real but not impossible. Once I learned how to dial, the first cup dissipated my buyers remorse instantly. The difference in taste, aftertaste, acidity and aroma from the same beans was instantly noticeable. Even my wife commented on how pleasant the coffee was and could not believe they were the same beans. I'm sure the new grinder helps tremendously. I'm looking forward for many years of service, 2 more countries and a great selection of beans.

Extremely impressed

I buy a lot of things online and I have never seen a company taking the time and resources to ship their products as safely as possible. Clive Coffee you have my respects. You raised the bar too high, too high...

i have a friend that just received a “new” move from lotta love and in the setting it has bluetooth as an option- firmware is 1.10, board is a 2.? number - is this odd? mine does not have a bluetooth option. box seemed like it was a return, tape wasn’t original. had scratches on the top.
