Improving hearing in a hood

I have a neoprene K9 from Mister S without ear holes. I recently went to a convention and found myself unable to hear basically at all, definitely a lesson learned for the next time I buy one. but in the meantime how would I be able to aid/solve this problem?

I'm unconfident in my leatherworking abilities, and even if I had the right tools I'd still mess it up somehow but if that's my only option I'll have to take it
