First Timer Here: Driving from Seattle to Puyallup (and Puyallup to Seattle). What’s the best time to leave either city to avoid the “hell traffic” everyone keeps warning me about? Also, what’s the best route to take?
Any insight or help is appreciated!! Whenever I ask friends who live in the area, they just laugh and say, “Good luck with that.” 😂
Is traffic really that unpredictable, or are there certain times/routes that can make the commute a little less painful? I’m brand new to the area and Still figuring out which way is up around here. 🙃
so I’ll take any tips, tricks, or local wisdom you’ve got!
TIA! 😊

Fred Meyer - Irn-Bru
Anyone buying the Irn-Bru from the Fred Meyer on Meridian?
It is regularly stocked and often sold out, and I'm not buying that much of it.
It's a soft drink from Scotland so I assume there are some other folks from the UK or Ireland buying it, rather than locals.
Does Puyallup need more plumbers?
I will be moving back to Puyallup soon, I have been running a small plumbing business in AZ for years. I am curious if anyone has input on plumbers in the area? have you had problems getting a plumber over for repairs or plumbing emergencies? Do you have a plumber you would call in the area with confidence you are in good hands? please share your experiences
Are you missing this beauty. Seen this morning on 128th just west of 86th.
Does anyone have a recommendation for an exterminator?
Last night I had yellow jackets inside my house. They ate through the sheetrock in an almost inaccessible spot. We filled the hole with Great Stuff, but I can hear them testing the boundary and in the wall.
Looking for someone who can check our dishwasher setup BEFORE we buy a new one
We’ve only been in this house for about a year, so we’re still figuring out some of the original setup. We’re hoping to replace our dishwasher, but after one failed attempt, we’d really like to have someone knowledgeable come out first and tell us exactly what will fit and what needs to be changed for installation.
A few months ago, we ordered a dishwasher through Costco that was supposed to be one of the smaller standard-size options. When the installer arrived with it, he looked at our setup and told us it wouldn’t fit and that we needed a GFCI outlet under the sink. The dishwasher ended up going right back.
Our current dishwasher has apparently been here since the house was built, and rather than plugging into an outlet under the sink, the wiring goes directly into the house. We don’t know much more about how the existing dishwasher was installed.
Here’s what we know:
- The current dishwasher is hardwired rather than plugged into an outlet under the sink.
- We were told we need a GFCI outlet under the sink before a new dishwasher can be installed.
- Because of the way the dishwasher sits in the kitchen, we cannot have a handle that sticks out. We need something with a recessed/pocket-style handle or similar.
- We’d like someone to measure the opening and look at the plumbing and electrical setup so we know exactly what will fit before ordering another dishwasher.
- The one we’re currently interested in is the Maytag MDB4949SKZ from Costco (pictured), but we don’t know if it will work with our space/setup.
My parents had a really good Costco installer and mentioned that if we order through Costco again, we may be able to request him. But we don’t want to order another dishwasher only to have it show up and find out it can’t be installed.
We’re not quite ready to officially contact or schedule anyone yet — right now we’re mainly looking for suggestions and recommendations so we know who to contact when we are ready.
Who would you recommend for something like this? An appliance installer, electrician, plumber, handyman, or someone else? Ideally, we’d eventually like someone who can inspect the current setup, take measurements, and tell us what needs to be changed and what dishwasher dimensions we need to shop for.
If anyone in the Puyallup/South Hill area has had a similar situation or has someone they’d recommend, we’d appreciate the suggestions!
Pictures are of our current dishwasher and the Maytag we’re considering.
AI Data Center behind Bradley Lake Park, WA

There's an AI data center built right behind Bradley Lake Park, and as far as I'm aware, almost none of the public knows. I tried to visit the site today, but it was put on private property and hidden behind MULTIPLE other buildings. If anyone can find any info, please, PLEASE share it. I'm trying really hard to find info on this data center to eventually start a protest group against it.
If you can, please spread the word. The city population largely doesn't know about this, and they absolutely deserve to. Any contribution to bring this to attention is amazing.
There's a few things here that give a little extra info

Here's the company that owns the building's website, though it's rather vague

Increased cop activity?
Is it just me, or has there been a significant increase in the amount of cops on the road lately? Driving around the south hill area, along meridian, and downtown, normally I’d see one or two on the road every few days. I saw 4 cops yesterday, one followed me down the entirety of shaw road, and saw like 6 today just driving downtown. They’re all from different cities too—Kent, Bonney Lake, King County Sheriff, even SeaTac. I think it’s weird.

Looking for elementary & middle school recommendations in Puyallup/University Place
Hi everyone! We’re looking to buy a home in the Puyallup/University Place area and are currently researching neighborhoods and schools.
We really like University Place because of the strong school district, but there are very few homes available within our budget, so we’re also looking closely at Puyallup.
For parents in the area, which elementary and middle schools would you recommend? We’re especially interested in strong academics and a friendly, supportive environment.
Which schools or areas would you recommend avoiding?
Thanks!

Who else saw that green space trash land at 12:50 this morning?
My Ring camera was not charged so I did not catch whatever fell out of the sky two minutes ago on camera, but I know somebody has a doorcam that did. Please, for the love of God, tell me you saw it too! That was one of the coolest things that’s ever happened to me, to see it in real life!
Street lamps changed for the worse
Live near Rainier Woods park. For many years the street lamps on my road were peaceful orange color. They have recently been replaced with (probably more-efficient) bright white. I live on a quiet street and now it is illuminated like the Walmart parking lot. Fortunately the street behind my house still has glowing orange lamps. I really do not look forward to when they too are all white LEDs.
Anybody else here have this issue? Shall I just start calling up the local councilman, street department, etc?
