Need Guidance: REC ECE vs CSE, Placements & Scholarship Doubts (190.5 BC Cutoff)

Hi seniors,

I have a 190.5 cutoff (BC category), and I'm considering joining Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC) through TNEA. I have a few doubts and would really appreciate your honest guidance.

  1. Should I choose ECE or CSE at REC if my main priority is placements, with GATE as a backup option?
  2. How is REC overall? Is it worth joining compared to other TNEA colleges?
  3. What is the current placement situation for ECE? Are ECE students getting good placement opportunities, or do most students end up in IT jobs? How are the average and highest packages for ECE in recent years?
  4. If I get CSE at REC, would it be a better choice than ECE considering the current job market and future opportunities?
  5. I heard REC offers scholarships for eligible TNEA students. If I don't keep REC as my 1st preference and instead place it around 10th or 20th in my choice filling, will I still be eligible for the scholarship if I get allotted REC, or is the scholarship available only if REC is kept as the first choice?
  6. How is the environment at REC for GATE preparation, coding, internships, and placement preparation? Do students get enough support and time to prepare for competitive exams?

I would really appreciate honest feedback from current students or alumni, especially those from ECE and CSE.

Thank you in advance!

REC or RIT

I'm so confused on what to chose between these two.

I like the campus of REC but the fee is 2.35L. Is it worth the money?

Otherwise I got a scholarship in RIT. I do like the placement percentage but the only thing that hold me back is the campus size. Can any seniors give me some clarity?

Most people say that both are same management and they are more or less the same. So I'm so confused..!!

Should I choose REC for mechanical engineering?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for honest reviews from current students or recent graduates of REC. I'm having a big confusion whether I should join this college or look for any other.

My background is:

• I'm an NRI and I spent most of my life outside India.

• Studied in an Indian Recognised Board.

• Planning to pursue B.E/B.tech in Mechanical Engineering as i might pursue other degrees in future cus i heard it has so much scope.

The colleges that I had considered before were SRM KTR, SRM AP, VIT. The NRI quota fees were so high both in SRM KTR and VIT.

So now I'm considering REC as the options are getting less. I even called the CIT admission office and they told me that the seats are full.

Can any one recommend any good colleges if REC isn't fit for me. I'm looking for colleges that are near Chennai or I'm even comfortable with studying in other major cities like Hyderabad, Delhi, or any other.

I'd really like to know about the academics of REC. Are the teachings good? Do they help students who are genuinely interested in learning? Overall Campus environment? Hostel?

I'm genuinely into academics, building skills, etc

The most important question is:

If you were starting college again knowing everything you know now, would you still choose Rajalakshmi Engineering College?

Joined Rajalakshmi Engineering College's New Perungudi Campus

Just got admission to the new Rajalakshmi Engineering College off-campus in Perungudi for B.Tech.

It's a brand-new campus, so there aren't many student experiences online yet. Looking forward to seeing how it develops over the next few years and making the most of the opportunities available.

If anyone is studying there or joining this year, I'd love to hear your thoughts and connect. 🙂

Hi, I'm a fresher joining REC this year in ECE. I want to know how you guys use laptops in the classroom, when I can use mine, and any other details to help me prepare.
