UA POV: (new 8 minute clip) Zelensky speech: "We are bringing home an outstanding son of the Ukrainian people – an exemplary warrior and a prominent Ukrainian statesman, Colonel Yevhen Konovalets."

Official Zelensky X post:

"We are bringing home an outstanding son of the Ukrainian people – an exemplary warrior and a prominent Ukrainian statesman, Colonel Yevhen Konovalets. Throughout his conscious life, he fought for Ukraine to be restored and to gain real independent strength. Unfortunately, at that time, Ukraine was unable to establish itself. There was not enough unity, not enough wisdom among the political leaders of the time, not enough ability to build genuine ties with the world.

But Ukraine’s time has come. Independence was restored, and we defended Ukraine’s right to be itself. No one will ever remove the blue-and-yellow flags from Kyiv again, and it is only Ukraine that will choose its national path. Now, remembering Ukraine’s struggle for liberation, we all know with absolute certainty what mistakes must not be made. We know what Ukraine needs and where we must focus our attention and efforts. We know what national priorities our state must have.

Glory to Ukraine!"

UA POV: (different video) Zenensky at reburial of OUN Founder Konovalets, says Ukraine in 2026 has the same basic values as Konovalets

Zelensky:

'We know what the national values of our state should be. Colonel Konovalets returned to the very Ukraine he fought for and desired to see: a strong, sovereign, and independent Ukraine. A Ukraine that honors and develops its army—one of the most combat-ready and renowned armies in Europe and the world. A Ukraine that has our soldiers, our coat of arms, our trident.'

Vadim Papura was a Youth League member of the Communist Party of Ukraine. He died on May 2, 2014 as he leapt to his death from the Trade Union House in Odessa, Ukraine to escape a fire started by Maidan rioters. He was 17 years old.

Papura was a local activist and a member of the Communist Party of Ukraine’s Youth League, and part of the anti-Maidan movement that opposed the new authorities in Kiev and advocated for federalization and keeping closer ties with Russia.

On that day, a joint march by pro-Maidan demonstrators, including far-right groups, clashed with anti-Maidan protesters who had established a tent camp on Kulykove Pole Square. After street battles, the anti‑Maidan side retreated into the nearby Trade Unions House.
The building was set alight with Molotov cocktails, resulting in the deaths of 42 people, most from smoke inhalation or burns, while others were beaten or fell from windows attempting to escape.

Vadim chose to jump from the building in a panic to escape burning to death or suffocating.

His parents found his body on the ground, under the windows of the Odessa Trade Unions House, with his head smashed in. After he had jumped, according to his family and comrades, pro-Maidan rioters beat him to death.

Vadim’s death along with the majority of the deaths in Odessa that day remain the subject of limited official investigation by Ukrainian authorities and no convictions have been secured.

July 24th, 2014 would have been his 18th birthday.

He died 83 days before he turned 18.

If he did not die, he would have turned 30 today.

Happy 30th Birthday, Vadim.

Reupload as details of Vadim’s story were confused with another victim.
