crazy photos in fireworks scene mode - RX100 VA

The csmera looks like it goes into long exposure mode. My first time using the fireworks setting in scene mode.

Looking for case recommendations with Peak Design cuff

I have the rope-style Peak Design cuff on my RX100 VII and wondering what’s the smallest possible case I could use. I want something as low profile as possible. Thanks!

RX100VII

Original Content!

I’m so in love with this camera. Every time I use it, it makes me want to get out and take more pictures, and maybe even upgrade to a more powerful camera someday.

These pics were taken in ATX N2 and N3, by the way!

Which one is your favorite? And if you had the VII but still wanted something pocketable, what would you upgrade to?

Tour de France Stage 1 [OC]

First day with my new (to me) M6 and I’m so happy with how these photos turned out given I have much to learn about this camera and photography in general!

Humidity killed my RX100vii

Well, maybe not killed. But permanently maimed. I took it with me to Iguazu Falls. Yes, yes, I know…. But it wasn’t the falls that got her. It was the smothering humidity. I don’t think I’ve encountered humidity quite that intense anywhere. It had the door locks on my truck going haywire, and was causing malfunctions with the EVF on another camera. The only thing that seemingly didn’t suffer was my phone, which I used to make a lot of videos.

Specifically the dial on the back of the RX100 stopped responding to rotational input - you know, how most of us change the shutter speed or aperture.

I am sad - the camera is “out of service” for the foreseeable. I never expected to like or depend on it so much - I bought it as a stop-gap camera when my camera bag got stolen. Didn’t really expect to use it much once I replaced my kit, but - it found a permanent place in my jacket pocket.

Anyway that’s my sad little eulogy for my RX100vii, thanks for reading.

New to Sony and recent vii owner. First keeper shot.

This was my first time out. Nikon D750 owner who’s taken a few years off. After seeing this sub and spending a bunch of time reading about what I should get... this is where I landed. So far I’m impressed! Shot this fella from around 40-50 yards, minor editing on my iPad - not quite ready to get back into Lightroom. Thought I’d share as this guy was a pretty cool subject. [OC]

SOOC VII

I’m aware this is highly subjective but are the SOOC jpegs usable?
Can I take the VII on vacation and get usable vacation photos without needing to edit?

Dies anybody do this and can provide some examples?

TIA

Portugal shot on my M7

Such a fun and portable camera to use when traveling. Had 4 batteries with me and I had enough juice to shoot for a week.

Photos are from Porto and Lisbon in Portugal, both really fun places to shoot pictures. I think I liked Porto better bc it was cleaner and imo had better views but still enjoyed visiting both cities. They also have subreddits so it’s easy to find cool things to do or places to visit.

Experience with M7 (vii)

Hey all! I’m trying to decide what model to purchase. I have some experience and a basic understanding of photography and don’t use a cellphone with a camera. Everyone seems to recommend the vii but I am curious how it fares at night time or indoors with lower lighting (restaurant, museum, etc.)?

I’m not a professional and really just use my photos for social media and occasionally printing for decor in my house. I see mixed reviews online about the 2.8 over say the 1.8 in the va. But again, if it’s just for social media will that be something I TRULY notice?

I’d appreciate any input and any of your experience. The camera would be an everyday carry and travel camera.

need help!

gonna preface this with i have minimal photography experience. just a few high school courses but i like taking photos for fun!!

i’ve been looking into getting an rx100 for concert photography since ive heard they do well in low lighting. can someone help me figure out what the best mark option would be for me lighting wise? i’m still learning but i know it has to do with the f number and wanting it to be low (or as low as possible?)

any advice would be greatly appreciated!! part of me wants to splurge on the mark vii but that’s easily $1500+ resell value in canada :(

Raw or Jpeg on RX100 MarkVII?

Hi all, I rented a RX100 Mark VII for a concert and the photos are lovely. Now I'd like to edit them in high contrast black and white and I'm learning to use Darktable.

I tried to edit a few jpgs and the results were really good. Then I tried to edit a few raws and the results were not so good. I found fine tuning hard to do somehow. (Maybe it's also my lack of Darktable knowledge)

For context, I'm a concert photographer since 92, using lots of various cameras from analogue to digital and lately I was shooting raw on Canon EOS where raws respond really well to subtle tweaking.

My questions are: in your concert experiences, do you prefer to rework your Sony raws or the jpgs?

And do you have practical tips that are specific to *.ARW?
