Anyone who has used both the Mark V and VII, do you prefer the faster lens and ND filter of the V over the longer reach and autofocus of the VII?
I recently purchased the VII and I'm happy with everything except the limiting performance in non-bright conditions.
Found a good deal on a used RX100 m2. I’m very new to the settings and editing but having fun with it so far.
Am I missing something?
This small camera really is amazing. [OC]
Hi all!
Looking to purchase a camera for outings.
So fair I’ve own the canon sx280hs and Sony Zv-1f.
I love the warmth and color on the canon but do not like the blurryness, this is where Sony comes in for me but the pictures come out so pale and dull.
Please advise or share your opinions on which one is worth the money, thank you!
Hi, I have shot on old canons up until now and I would like to buy a mark 3, it seems like all online retailers are very overpriced though. Should I wait for prices to fall or maybe look somewhere else?
Just go back from Portugal and Spain - my first pics with rx100 vii. This was originally supposed to be a trip to Madeira, but heavy storms and flooding closed all the hiking trails and many flights were cancelled.
I bought the rx100 specifically for that trip, but was happy to have it when we instead visited Lisbon, Sintra and other locations (plus our condo in Islantilla, Spain).
These photos were shot in RAW and I cropped them and tweaked the filters a bit in Lightroom. The underlying settings in the camera used a mix of shutter and aperture priority, along with some of the built-in scenes.
(I had originally ordered an rx100 v for the trip on eBay, but shipping got delayed so I ordered the vii at the last minute. I would have been happy with the v, but the vii has been great.
My rx100 refuses to hold a charge
Lasts maybe an hour?
Things I have tried:
- firmware update not needed. Firmware is updated (v2.0)
- turning off in shooting mode (still drains)
- Shooting with brand new batteries
- batteries will no longer re charge with USB charger. Just order another charger to try that
- resetting to factory settings
- hard reset on camera
I’m just over it. Have never had a camera battery die this fast. Sony and local camera repair shops quoted me $400+. Insane.
Which camera should I get instead? G7x? I won’t be buying Sony again lol but going to be buying used. I shoot just for fun and friends events. Would love under $600 ideally.
Thank you for your advice!
Some shots with my Sony RX100 III that I liked enough to share :) getting into photography, any tips?
I just noticed there’s a small crack at camera body of my rx100iv. Shall I worry about it or do anything to repair it? Functionality seems fine for me.
Taken with my M7 from a couple of different hotels I stayed in last week. Straight out of camera, if I remember correctly, I used Veres’ Ektar picture profile.
Merci !
EDIT : it works, but only in Auto mode !
Hey everyone, hoping someone has experienced this before.
My RX100 IV flash suddenly stopped working out of nowhere. It was working fine, then the next time I tried to use it, nothing — just the orange dot indicator staying solid (not blinking, so the capacitor seems to be charging fine).
Things I’ve already tried:
• Factory reset (Initialize) → no change
• Tested in full Auto and P mode in a dark room with Flash Mode set to “Flash On”
Here’s the weird part: the flash fires randomly when I gently press the flash unit inward. This made me suspect a contact/connection issue rather than a capacitor or flash tube problem.
I cleaned the flash contacts with a 70% isopropyl alcohol swab and noticed something — the left side of the flash unit has 2 contact pins, but the right side only has 1. Is this normal by design, or is one pin missing/broken?
Has anyone dealt with this before? Is this a known issue on the RX100 IV? Would love to know if this is fixable without going to a service center.
Thanks!
Hi all,
I’m planning a family trip to Malaysia and Singapore, including KL, Penang, Ipoh/Melaka, Singapore and a few nights on an island resort.
I’m trying to decide whether the Sony ZV-1 II makes sense as a proper pocket camera alongside a phone and an action camera.
This would mainly be for:
Family memories on the go
Better low-light photos/videos than a phone
Food, street scenes and markets
Beach/island evening shots
Some basic star/night sky attempts with a mini tripod
General family video without needing a big camera setup
I’ve looked at the Sony RX100 VII, but it is quite a bit more expensive. I understand the RX100 VII has the better zoom and is probably the better all-round compact camera, but I’m wondering whether the ZV-1 II is the more sensible choice for casual family travel, especially when a modern phone already covers a lot of daytime photos.
I’m not expecting it to be great for moon shots because of the limited zoom. My main question is whether the ZV-1 II is good enough to justify taking as a dedicated pocket camera for family travel, low light and casual video.
Would you choose the ZV-1 II, stretch to the RX100 VII, or just rely on a phone plus action camera?
Thanks.
When I lock focus on my Sony RX100 VII and then crop the photo before taking the shot, the camera adjusts its exposure settings based on the cropping instead of retaining all the initial focus parameters. How can I fix this?
