I wanted to share some pictures of a Brazilian rolling tobacco I’ve been trying: Mirage of the Mind.

It comes in a resealable zip-lock pouch, which is a nice touch for storage. The tobacco looks fairly fine-cut, with a light to medium brown color and some variation in the strands. I’m using Smoking Slim Long filters (22 mm).

After trying it, I found the aroma to be mild and slightly sweet, with a subtle earthy note. The tobacco feels reasonably moist without being overly wet, making it easy to roll and helping it burn at a steady pace. The draw is smooth, and the smoke is relatively light, with a balanced flavor that does not feel too harsh.

On the palate, I noticed gentle woody and toasted notes, followed by a faint sweetness. The finish is fairly clean and short, without an overly strong aftertaste. It is not an especially intense tobacco, so it may appeal to people who prefer a milder, more straightforward smoke.

The tobacco is nice and moist, plenty of lamina to stem ratio, it's just more work as the material is not nearly sorted, leaves are in pieces and broken stems. Definitely worth it for 45$ for 5lbs.

In the picture is about 1/3 of the 5lbs. cleaned up. I've got more to go. Once having removed all the stems and stem pieces it will be much more practical to weight and use when I need to make some blends. The tobacco is surprisingly dark, smells really good and smokes amazing once it's been aired out a bit. It's pretty strong by itself for a Virginia, it has a decent impact, throat hit and nicotine content.

I love the size of the papers that come with the packs of Peter Stokkebye RYO tobacco. I can’t seem to find anything other than zig zags and ez-wider around me.

I hand roll and for whatever reason I can’t seem to roll the typical straight cigarette style with zig zags. They always come out looking like joints. They also burn pretty unevenly, frequently canoeing. I also tend to like smaller cigarettes and I swear these other brands taste worse.

Could anyone suggest a better brand or an online shop?

Hey everyone, thought I'd share my little journey here since we're all into the same thing.

I started smoking when I was 14. I know that's young, but ever since I was a kid, I was always curious about smoking. There was just something about the smell that fascinated me. I smoked commercial cigarettes for years and somehow went almost 10 years without touching Drum or RYO tobacco.

Now that I've come back to rolling my own, I honestly don't know how I forgot about it in the first place. I think I just got too caught up in the routine of everyday life. There's something about Drum that I especially love in winter. The smell reminds me of the earth, cold weather, and weirdly enough, the Harry Potter movies. I can't really explain it, but when I first opened the pouch, it was like a whole bunch of old memories came rushing back at once. It's crazy how a smell can do that.

I used to smoke a pack a day, basically one cigarette every hour. Over time, I managed to cut that down a lot, and now I feel like I have control over it. I can go months without smoking sometimes, and when I do feel like having one, I can enjoy it without feeling like I need another one right after. I can go five days between cigarettes, too.

I'm not planning to quit completely. For me, it's more about not letting it become a routine that controls my day. I just want to enjoy something I like on my own terms, rather than feel like I have to do it.

Anyway, glad to be back into RYO after all these years. Curious to hear if anyone else has a tobacco that brings back memories or a particular smell that just feels like winter to them.

I really like the drum! Drum&black coffee friendship. Is any recommendation for different paper btw?

I’m using a Mentos tin right now, but it kinda sucks as a dispenser. 😂
What are you guys using?
