Notes App for Rabbit R1

Notes App for Rabbit R1

Here’s my take on a Notes app for the Rabbit R1. It has persistent memory, ability to save notes by folder, pin favourite notes, use different fonts, bullets, numbering, bold, underlined and italics! You can also email the note to your Rabbit R1 default email. You can dictate the note too if you prefer! Hope you all like it!

Acoustic speaker amp and power bank

I just bought a used R1, and am having a good time with it. I like how the case can be used as a stand, and decided to build on that idea.

As you can see in the photo, I 3D printed an acoustic speaker amplifier (non electronic) that was designed for phones. I’ve tried a couple of these “amplifiers” and this one seems to me the best for my purposes. It roughly triples the volume of the R1 and seems to provide a bit more bass.

R1 docked on external \"amp\" and power bank

R1 is easily removable because of magnetic USB C connector

AA battery-sized spacer to raise the R1 when placed in the \"amp\"

I also wanted to provide power for the R1, without tying it down to an outlet. I had an Anker power bank in my drawer and decided to dedicate it to the R1 (I used double sided foam tape to hold the power bank in place). I added a magnetic usb c connector to make it easy to remove and replace the R1. You’ll notice a usb stub on the Anker—that’s another usb c connector to make the Anker easy to charge.

I also 3D printed a AA battery shell to use as a spacer so that the R1 would sit higher in the “amplifier.” You could employ a used AA battery for this purpose. I didn’t alter the “amplifier” design for the R1 as I wanted to still use it for my phone (just remove the AA battery shell spacer to use as phone)

I’m pasting in below the links to the 3D print files, power bank and magnetic usb c. These aren’t affiliate links.

Note also any power bank you have should work fine. Because the power cable is built into the Anker power bank, I took care in the placement of the power bank on the back of the “amplifier” so that the stiff cable would tend to push the R1 into the alignment I wanted, rather than skewing it.

I'm working on a Home Assistant client for modified R1 devices.

It is in early stages, but very functional already.

Rabbit R1 Recorder has finally matured

I've been extremely harsh on certain aspects of the R1 because I really wanted it to be a tool and not a toy. There were several limitations and factors that kept it from that status IN MY OPINION.
I've been very vocal in particular about the recorder being horrible, not always uploading, shutting down without warning, not being good quality, etc.
I am happy to say that I have been using the recorder for a month solid now, and I am ready to sell my plaud device because the rabbit gets the job done much better than plaud does now, with the exception of battery life.

I love being able to insert photos, and the analysis that I get afterwards is quite good. being able to jump to a part in a transcript (where it even captures people's names) and listen to that particular part is great (at least in rabbit hole, I don't think this is available on the device yet)

At any rate, I wanted to say this because I have been so critical, I don't complain just to complain. When something gets this much better it deserves to be know so I wanted to let everyone know the recorder is so much better than it used to be, and stands toe to toe with devices like Plaud, and sometimes has even more functionality.

Even if the battery is still crap 😛

Hey everyone! I created an NTS Radio player for the Rabbit R1 that lets you stream NTS 1, NTS 2, and 16 curated infinite mixtapes directly on your device.

I didn't use the Rabbithole AI intern to build it. Well I did, but basically three prompts wasted for not much... I found the open-source [creations-sdk](https://github.com/rabbit-hmi-oss/creations-sdk) repo from rabbit-hmi-oss, which explains how to write and deploy R1 creations outside of Rabbithole. This was super helpful for understanding the SDK and self-hosting on Vercel.

Features:

  • infinite mixtapes (ambient, house, jazz, hip-hop, and more)
  • Smart controls: scroll wheel for volume/mixtape browsing, side button for play/pause

Installation:

Just scan the QR code or use the readme within the repo. Alternatively, locally npm run dev) to install on your R1.

I'm not a "trusted" source in Rabbithole, but the code is fully open-source if you want to review it before installing:

GitHub: https://github.com/ReCire/r1-nts-radio

Thanks to the rabbit-hmi-oss team for making the SDK available, great to see the community building tools to work outside the walled garden.
