Whether it was a giant Blockbuster or your neighborhood mom-and-pop shop, it was an entire sensory experience. The bright neon lights, the specific smell of plastic VHS cases, and the high-stakes strategy of rushing to the "New Releases" wall to see if a tape was actually left behind the dummy box.

If you got unlucky, you spent an hour wandering the aisles, reading the back of every sci-fi, horror, or comedy box before settling on an old favorite and grabbing a box of candy at the counter. Then came the ultimate rule: Be Kind, Rewind.

My wife and I are both in our late fifties. We still like to hit a happy hour now and then. We love chilling with friends over an adult beverage or sometimes we even crank up the music a little.
