Parents of gingers, how do we keep our children safe during the upcoming heat?

Hi all,

Weather for next week looks insane.

My son is ginger, and has the ginger skin. I know absolutely nothing about protecting ginger skin, my son being ginger came out of nowhere, mine and hubbys family is full of olive skinned brunettes.

Is there anything you do to keep on top of it? Last year I was too scared to have him out in the sun at all (he was coming up to 1) but he’s 2 now and he loves his garden.

We’ve got a marque up on the garden, I have factor 50, I’ve got hats with chin straps that have the flap bit down his neck.

How often do I put sun tan lotion on?

Is there anything else you do to protect them?

I gave up on my wavy hair after a cut and now I want it longer

I gave up on my waves after I got it cut and got permanent hair straightening again lol. I could make it for over a year without getting it done. I wanted to control my curls but it was too much work, so I decided to give up. I am just looking for natural(and cheap) ways you recommend(and tried on your hair) to have a healthy hair. I hateeee cutting my hair, but I had to do it because my splits were a disaster and it was so dry. I want to have really long hair before turning 40 lol I want it waist long. Have you ever had it that long? I don't know anyone with really long hair! I tried so many times, but my unhealthy hair had to be cut before reaching the waist 😭. Ty ~

Hello from Solvang, California.

Anyone from Denmark here? Supposedly all redheads come from the Vikings? If you haven't heard of Solvang, It's a cute little town North of where I live in California that looks like a little Dutch town because it was settled by a group of people from Denmark I believe in 1611 or something. It's a cute little place if you have the chance to visit.

Looking for US based redhead influencers (or pale, fair skin with other hair colors) influencers and UGC for upcoming campaign... any volunteers?

Hey everyone! Erin here. thank you to everyone who did my skincare survey! I truly appreciate it. I'm still working on the ideas and branding, but when we get closer to launch, I'm hoping to start using redheads you follow- and also some of you if you want to do a video talking about the products. You'd have to show your hands at least if you don't want to show your face.

If you want to email, you can go ahead and email me at skinroux@gmail.com .

Or just drop a comment with redheads you follow on social media across any platform so I can hit them up! I've followed a bunch, but haven't reached out to anyone directly yet.

Thank you in advance!

Working on getting the trademark, so the name might be Rouxe Skin (or Roux Skin depending). still working on all of that.. haha. I'll keep you posted when we launch to the people who asked. 😄

Also, if you are in the UK or another country, I will let you know when we are getting ready to launch there too if you're interested. Looking for any gender to help out.

Harassment & Fetishization of Redheads

I don't really know what is going on, but lately, there has been a rapid increase of men openly telling me (or my partner) how much they love my red hair (or redheads in general).

I mean most of the time, especially if it is just one small compliment or comment, I am perfectly fine with it and enjoy the positive attention.

Yet, if it is anything more, I can't help but think what they are likely thinking in their head, which grosses me out. Especially when they make a creepy, lustful face to go along with it. Ugh.

Today was especially bad. I was heading into a store with my partner, and this random, drunk guy started yelling, following us telling us how much he loves redheads. How great they are.... and then he started talking about sex with redheads... which is where my partner started to put distance between him and I. Eventually, he got bored and angry because he started leaving and then said how he hates redheads ??

I was already overwhelmed before that, and it sent me over the edge, and I broke down. My partner apologized, saying he wasn't sure what to do and was just shocked at it happening. I simply explained to him that most people who make it very apparent that they LOVE redheads are usually the ones who are also sexualizing/objectifying them.

I just felt like talking about this somewhere, and I'm sure many of you guys have similar stories...

Are there any shampoos or treatments for natural redheads?

I know there are formulas for black, natural blonde, and brown hair, but I've never heard of one for red hair

Got told last week I had brown hair in this sub and wanted more opinions!

A little confused because I've posted here before and have had a few people tell me I had auburn hair, but I'm a little confused because people said in my last post it was brown. It's like right in the middle of really warm brown and auburn so I don't really even know myself. I just took a picture of it right now to hopefully get some final feedback once and for all. Do we still think this counts as auburn, or no? Thanks!

Red Hair in the Sun

I always complain how over the years I’ve been slowly turning brunette.. and then when I step into the sun I’m like “oh. Nope. Still red.”

Red hair but no family members with red hair

I hope this post is welcome even though I don't have red hair myself. But I gave birth to the most beautiful little baby boy a month ago, and his hair is red as fire. But nobody in either mine or my partners family have red hair. Not even a little. Not even in the entire extended family. Nothing. My first thought when he came out was "how is his hair red!?". It suits him, though, and he's just completely perfect. Do any of you red haired people also come from families with no red hair at all? Is this common?

Just another commet about my hair.

Every once in a while a rando will approach me in public and ask or say some weird things about my hair. Most recently, a woman in a public restroom told me she knew my hair was authenticly red becasue i had "red-head skin", ie: very pale i guess. Then she said "ill pray that one day you have a daughter who is also red headed."

I wasn’t offended, she was very sweet. Sometimes its fun getting random comments on my hair. I've made it a game to see how strange the comments can get haha~

Where to buy bulk sunscreen?

It’s summer in the northern hemisphere and freckle season is upon us. I’d like to buy sunscreen in bulk, does anyone have any tips for how to do this?

Also thread for any tips on sunburn avoidance!

Compact help

Hi, I have an oily t zone and want to get a compact powder I can apply to help alleviate that some for a wedding.

If I could get some help for my undertones that would be amazing, from my googling it seems like that's the first step to find a matching shade. Picture is no makeup with window/natural lighting

Hoping a fellow redhead has a similar complexion/suggestion! Bonus points if it has some spf
