"Nooo, you can't beat REVII on NG on VoS! It's impossible without infinite ammo!!!"

It's been years since RE8 released and i still see people complaining about VoS difficulty. Yes, it's hard, much more harder than RE7 Madhouse. But no, you don't need to be in NG+ with infinite ammo to beat the game :)

Shadows of Rose dlc

Hello, it's been a while since I finished re8, a month or two back, absolutely loved it, have finished 7 & 9 as well, however, I am itching for more re content and since capcom isn't porting 2-4 on the switch 2 anytime soon, I wanted to ask how's the re8 dlc, how well does it fare against the main game, how long is it, if the main game took me 8 hours on standard difficulty, please answer without spoiling. Thank you!

Bit of a crazy one that still doesn’t feel real. I’m a writer and my first book has been published today. It’s all about action horror games and features interviews with a bunch of iconic names - including the first chapter, with John!

John’s enthusiasm and honesty really sets the tone for some pretty personal stories throughout the rest of the book, which features chapters with Ken Levine, Marc Laidlaw, Maggie Robertson and many others.

It’s a dream come true for me. To round it off, John agreed to write the foreword, in which he says some immensely nice things about my work.

I figured people here might get a kick out of an in-depth, sit down chat with the great man himself. Oh, and the book features a killer jacket designed by comic book artist Ray Dillon.

‘Beyond Fear: Inside Action Horror Games’ is available online and across most countries right now, with pre-orders also happening in the US. I’d love for the community to check it out! Thank you and feel free to drop me any questions🤘

EDIT - I’ve had a few requests for links to order, so please see below 😊 Huge thank you to anyone who picks it up!

US pre-orders:
Amazon
(Also available from Barnes & Noble etc)

UK orders (available now):

(Also available from Waterstones, Foyles, Blackwells etc)

Reasons for nausea while playing Resident Evil Village?

I have been playing Village with no nausea whatsoever but when I got to the part in the factory after about 20 minutes of playing I get extremely bad nausea and have to turn it off. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Speed running

My first time trying to speed run the game, so far I'm out of Castle Dimitrescu at 39:31, is this on pace for a good run, or could I do better? (I'm on Village of Shadows with NG+ and Infinite ammo)

The story from the credits.

I saw another post on here asking about what happened to the children of the village. It's making me realize that most people don't seem to have watched the story that got told in the games credits, most people likely skipped it or didn't pay attention as it passed by.

The story follows a family in the village (shown in the picture I included). The mother very suddenly gets sick, coughing up puddles of blood, and dies soon after. The daughter (who is a young kid by the time this happens, the picture I included still shows her as a baby because this was years prior), also gets sick and starts coughing up blood.

The father rushes outside holding her where he finds another man also holding his child, pointing towards the church, which has a line up of families going to it, a portion of them being just one parent with their child.

At the church a plague doctor (obviously Mother Miranda as you can see she's wearing her robes) ejects the children with a syringe, healing them. It then shows Miranda getting all of the fathers to also take an ejection of Cadou, likely saying it's to prevent them from contracting the sickness.

Once back home the daughter sees her father clutching his stomach, and then finds him, turned into a Lycan, feasting on an animal (likely the horse shown in the family picture). The book ends with him spotting her.

My take away from this story is that Miranda somehow set a sickness on the village, mainly targeting the mothers and children. This would make the fathers panic and rush to Miranda for help, where she would cure any of their wives or children that hadn't yet died, and then make the fathers take an ejection of Cadou, telling them it was a vaccine. The fathers would then go home and turn into Lycan's and since their own children were always right there as they first turned, they ended up being their first meals. Thus explaining why there are no children in the game without showing us it actually happening (since children being killed on-screen is a big no-no).

This is also why every survivor we meet in the game is either single or just never had kids. The only parent we meet in the game is Leonardo, who is clutching his stomach when we first meet him and turns shortly after. He is likely the last to turn.

Also note that we know all of this happened in just one day, as the hag (Miranda pretty much flexing her own actions) says that the village only fell into darkness after Miranda came back with Rose, and we also find a note in the red chimney house of a guy saying that Miranda summoned him to the ceremony site, where he saw Rose, meaning that the village was still all normal when Miranda first came back. This also means that during all of this, Ethan had been unconscious just up the hill.

Heisenberg's Factory.

Why do so many people dislike the factory?

Is it because the juxtaposition is so jarring? At least compared to the other levels?

I'm not sure why it's my least favorite, but it just is.

Even with how ridiculously short Moreau's section was it still had a much better atmosphere, IMO. It's also the only place I die on re-play.

I wanted to like the factory but I just don't.

Miranda may be the most evil.

I previously asked why were there were no children in Village and a kind Redditor pointed out the end credits picture story.

Miranda literally infected the men of the village with cadou and they ate them.

I cannot believe I didn't see this before.

In the scope of evil committed in Resident Evil games, it may be small, but was absolutely ruthless.

Urias strajer tips for VOS?

Does anyone have any tips for beating him? I know the general routine of running in circles consistently and yes I know about the weak spot on his back
But I have only one heal and no flashbangs so literally dodging is the only thing I have to rely on and it’s actual hell because of how little room for error there is. So I just wanted to ask, is there any tips or a glitch I could use to get past this? Saying glitch because at this point I just wanna get past it I don’t really care about feeling accomplished lol

Mother Miranda's threat

Just finished Resident Evil Village, and honestly, I feel kind of disappointed with how Mother Miranda was handled at the end.
For the vast majority of the game, Capcom did a phenomenal job building her up. Through Ethan’s eyes, she felt terrifying, unreachable, and practically like an immortal demigod. The entire village worshiped her, the four lords were terrified of her, and she had this genuinely sinister, supernatural aura. Finding out she retroactively inspired Spencer and the whole Umbrella logo made her feel like this massive, foundational pillar of the entire RE lore.
...and then Chris Redfield showed up and made her look completely weak.
The tonal shift during the late game completely dismantled all the tension. While Ethan was fighting for his life in a grounded survival horror, Chris rolled in with full Call of Duty / RE5 military overkill, treating the whole thing like just another boring Tuesday at the office.
Seeing Chris completely unfazed, calling in airstrikes, and treating Miranda not as an ancient terror, but just as "Target #47 to blow up with C4," ruined her mystique entirely. It instantly demoted her from a god-like matriarch to just another run-of-the-mill B.O.W. on a veteran's checklist.
I get that Chris has seen it all (Tyrants, Wesker, global bioweapons), but having him completely disregard her presence took away all the weight and danger she radiated for the last 8 hours.
Did anyone else feel that the military section completely killed Miranda's aura as the ultimate villain? Pretty weak from Capcom...
