Hello, looking for some advice on getting employment for the up coming winter season, my partner and I are coming to Revelstoke from Australia in November/December.
We have experience in retail/cafe/bar/hotel work as we have done seasons previously, our current employment is disability support work and an Arborist.
Is it best applying on RMR jobs posted, or emailing cafes/retail places directly? Finding it a bit overwhelming trying to organise it all plus finding accommodation.
Any advice, leads on accommodation/employment or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
I've been doing an annual ski trip to revy for years now.
We normally stay at the Grizz for proximity to downtown but are thinking this year we might try the Sutton and capitalize on their early bird deal.
My one concern - we like to go out for dinner/drinks in town each night. Will it be a nightmare for a group of 12 of us to get home around 10pm to midnight? The Sutton isn't giving us a straight answer on how available their shuttle would be. RMR shuttle looks like it stops running at 830pm. Revy Rides looks promising but not sure if the wait time will be super long? Not sure about local taxi service for that many people?
Hey folks!
Im from Kamloops and Im doing a short 2-3 night camping excursion in Revelstoke later this month or maybe September and Im looking for some recommendations on where to camp.
I will be camping in my car (its setup for it) and I do not need any kind of hookup. I just simply need a place to park the car and sleep.
I would prefer closer to town but im not too picky. Id prefer to not spend a ton of money too because like I said I just need a place to park and sleep.
Id love any tips or advice/recommendations!
Also as a fellow BC resident I understand the devastation the forest fires have had on us and trust me I will not be using fire in any way. The LAST thing I want to see is another beautiful part of BC burned down.
Thanks guys
Hi everyone! My husband and I are scheduled to drive in tomorrow from Red Deer, AB for a non-refundable hotel stay. How are the current air quality and wildfire smoke conditions in town? Is it still feasible to explore and do outdoor activities, or is the smoke bad enough that it's best to stay put?
Appreciate any local insights. Thanks in advance!
I would like to visit a friend in Nakusp, but the bus from Vancouver only goes to Revvy. Is there a public transportation way to get to Nakusp? (Its kind of a surprise visit, so I'm trying to do it on my own).
Thanks!
Hi, I’m sure this is a common question you get. I asked this in the British Columbia subreddit 5 days ago and the general consensus was don’t cancel, it varies day to day and just try to be flexible. But then this state of emergency happened and the wildfires grew much worse in the last 24 hours.
Our 10 day visit (leaving Aug 12th) is Vancouver to Whistler to Kamloops (rest stop) to Revelstoke to Yoho/Banff. We were going to do two days in Revelstoke, which would land about August 17-18th, doing Mt. Revelstoke and a hike in Glacier National Park.
I really do understand conditions vary and we were fine with that, but this seems to have moved into more dangerous territory. I mean, Revelstoke AQI is like 250+. Should we cancel or still go and hope for the best? That’s a lot of money down the drain if things stay bad and/or we get unlucky.
The girlfriend and I are heading to the Stoke for the September long weekend as it is both of our birthdays and our anniversary.
Where might I be able to sneak out and get some bird shots? Or just in general some park recommendations?
Where’s my Birders at!!
Hello, I’m a 19 year old free ride skier planning on staying in Revelstoke for the season with my main priority being to ski. I am currently in the process of sorting out work but I was curious about non work accomodation. Is there much of a share house vibe? If so, what would be the best ways to go about sorting this out?
Hello i'm trying to find more information about frog falls recreation site. I was wondering if a regular sedan can make it there. Just looking for a quick day-use stop on our way to revy. Thank you
I’m looking to get back into yoga and deciding which studio to join. I’ll try the intro passes to each, but I’d love to hear from people with experience.
Which studio do you like best and why? How are the instructors, classes, vibe and value for the price?
Thank you!
