Community! How we doing?

Any adjustments? Rule changes? Suggestions?

Been letting things run their course. Autobot is doing a little better keeping things better filtered.

How do we like the vibe etc?

Feels like it's a little more free flowing and engaging, real sense of community building with all the news and local events posts :D

Massive changes to the downtown, Northside, university corridor

I haven't heard any buzz about these developments, so I'd like to share what I stumbled across.

Riverside Alive - massive commercial space, nightlife , hotels and expansion of convention center. This would be a massive addition and expansion to downtown.

https://riversiderecord.org/riverside-alive-project-clears-another-hurdle-as-council-certifies-environmental-impact-report/

Riverside adventure center - a huge outdoor water sports park, hiking trails, shopping corridor (including a grocery store), hotels and housing in Northside. Theoretically this would connect Northside and downtown as a strong entertainment hub. There are plans to connect pedestrian access to downtown.

https://riversideca.gov/northsideplan/neighborhood/ASR-project.html

New Neighborhood Library - a digital and tech library planned to open in Eastside

UCR innovation and business center - green energy jobs, training, and research that wins to draw in and keep qualified professionals.

This is a strong change from constant warehouse pimping and should positively impact riverside.

Thoughts?

Man killed and fiance severely injured but riverside police officer

If you can support the families please do. This was so heartbreaking to hear about, and we need to hold our local law enforcement accountable for their crimes.

Does anyone know what's being built up on Van Buren between Bellegrave Ave and Jurupa Rd?

Looks like a Home Depot or something along those lines, lots of construction happening over the last few months...

free kittens to a good home

hello inland empire,

i just wanted to share with you this picture. a stray cat at my work had kittens. i took them in, i probably should have called animal services but decided to keep the mother because she was still quite young herself.

they were born on march 5th and hare full of energy. i really don’t want to send them to a shelter. and i cannot take care of all of them. i work 10-12 hour days and feel bad enough keeping the mom but she seems comfortable for the most part. i’m in the process of getting her fixed.

there are 3 girls and 1 boy, the boy is the bottom right corner the orange/white tabby.

one of their sisters was welcomed to a good home, but i didn’t know where else to turn. new cat owners suggested reddit. i tired instagram and small flyers at local pet stores.

i’m located in upland/rancho, but im willing to meet if anyone would like to accept one into their home.

i hope this fits for this page, im not a big redditor. if anyone knows a good no kill shelter too please im open to info. i really want a shelter to be last result.

please send a dm if you are interested! thank you for reading!

tl;dr: free cats! — or info on no kill pet shelters (last resort)

My husband drove through the Bain Fire to get home

He was on the phone with me letting me know there's a fire and to look out the window. He was only 8 minutes away and a little nervous to be that close. We're close to evacuation warnings but hoping it stops soon for Gods sake they're taking forever to at least contain it.

Bain fire animal safety

I was wondering if anyone knows if the Mary Robert’s adoption centers animals are okay or if they have been transported to a different locations since the Bain fire is quite literally super close to the center , I’m very concerned for all the animals near.

This Bain Fire is insane & fearing for my home.

Who the hell wants to start all over again?! Never in my 31 years living in SoCal has a wild fire ever come this close to burning my home down. I live next to La Sierra park and only one street away from the evacuation warning. How are yall doing?

Evacuation warning. Want to leave but dad insists on staying

We are in area JUR-0184, which is currently in evacuation warning. I have all my belongings in a car ready to go. My cat is in his bag and my sister is ready to go in her car. My dad is saying the fire isn't a big deal and making joke about how our cars are gonna be white in the morning (ash started falling down). I have a 6 year old little brother i desperately want to take up to our mom's but he insists on staying because my dad says its fine. I feel like im over reacting but I dont know. Just needed to share how I feel. Hope everyone is doing okay

New driver, need good low populated areas to practice driving.

Hello all, I live in riverside and am just starting to drive (24y). I'm wondering if anyone has any recommended areas that would be good for practice. I have my permit and want to get comfortable behind the wheel before getting onto the main streets and more populated areas. Thanks for any help you can give!

RCC area at risk of the fire?

How often does watch duty update? Seems the fire was moving East and the last update was about 6 hrs ago for RIV-0190, currently at level 2. I'm at the next section after that in the woods streets which has me worried.
