Thinking About Central Air

For those with central air, what’s your typical summer bills look like?
Thinking of getting central air myself but wanna know beforehand with those RG&E costs.

I have an older home, and we typically have window units.
We were already quoted for an amount by our furnace company, but I wanted to see what other people typically pay during the summer months before really deciding.

DONT EAT AT THIS WENDYS🤢❌‼️

Don’t eat at this nasty-ass Wendy’s at 1175 East Ridge Rd. They have terrible management, hire pedophiles (no background checks, smh), are infested with roaches and mice, and have an ongoing mold problem pretty much everywhere, especially where food is stored. They’ll feed you expired food and genuinely don’t care about cleaning or following food safety protocols.

I already contacted the health department, so hopefully they get their fucking lashings, because this place genuinely needs to be shut down. Fuck the entire management team. Save your money and eat at home, you really can’t trust these fast food restaurants.

Cat available for adoption. Male - Neutered.

Hi! We are moving at the end of June to a much smaller house and would love to find a home for our cat that would be better than we can provide. He’s super sweet and currently lives with us and our kids and gets along with them great. He does well while we are at work and loves to cuddle when we get home. He is an indoor cat, only semi curious about being outside but barely. He’s never been around other animals besides kittens from the place we got him so we are not sure how he’d do with other animals. He’s about 1.5 years old. Please send me a message if you’re interested in meeting him.

News10NBC Investigates: RG&E customers may owe more money after utility's software error printed wrong weather data on bills

Remember the RG&E employees that commented on my last post that I was "making mountains out of molehills" when this story first broke? Who actually believes that RG&E would have acted on this if we hadn't raised a fuss? More importantly, why are we as customers responsible for finding the errors in our bills?

SHAME.

‘Intentional Community’ Until Accountability Is Required”

I’ve been debating whether to post this, but honestly the handling of this situation feels really disappointing and worth discussing publicly.

Last month I attended the first #RochesterSoulConnection event. Tickets were around $35 for the evening, and one of the major advertised experiences was the sauna hosted by Stick and Stone Wellness.

Unfortunately, the sauna broke around 8PM, which meant anyone scheduled between 8–10PM lost access to a feature they specifically paid for. Things happen — equipment breaks, vendors run into issues, whatever. Most people were understanding.

Attendees who missed their sauna session were told they’d be “first on the list” for the next event.

Fast forward to now: the next event is two weeks away, multiple emails have gone unanswered, and instead of clarification/refunds/accountability, people received a mass email announcing that Yoga With Brett + Stick and Stone are separating from Rochester Soul Connection… immediately followed by promotion for an entirely different paid event.

No explanation for people who already purchased tickets. No clear information about refunds or credits. No direction for attendees with questions. No acknowledgment of the communication vacuum.

Just “community,” “healing,” “authenticity,” and a link to buy another $40 ticket elsewhere.

That disconnect is what feels gross to me.

You can’t build a brand around mindfulness, intentionality, authenticity, and “safe community spaces” while simultaneously avoiding direct communication with the very community supporting you financially.

This isn’t about a sauna breaking. It’s about accountability and professionalism.

Curious if anyone else from the event has had similar concerns or has received any actual information regarding refunds, credits, or future event plans.

Garlic mustard - time to pull!

Garlic mustard is a highly invasive plant. It is not native to the Americas and it quickly takes over the understory of forests, displacing native plants. It is in flower & starting to make seeds right now, making it very easy to identify and easy to pull. It's tall enough that most people can pull larger plants without bending down, and the roots are quite shallow. If you pull it, it should be bagged and thrown away in the trash. Since it is in seed, if left on the ground, the seeds will continue to mature and will spread.

It is edible if it hasn't been sprayed with herbicides! It has a strong garlicky taste. If you crush a leaf, you will be able to smell why the word "garlic" is in the name.

If you don't know what garlic mustard looks like in real life, the app "seek" does a decent job of identifying it. If you want to help me attempt to control garlic mustard & other invasive plants (Japanese knotweed, porcelainberry) in our local parks, let me know.

Card Skimmed at Public Market

Hello all! Just a PSA, I never use my debit card for anything, however I was recently at the Public Market and had to withdraw cash to purchase stuff from the vendors, and lo and behold 2 days later I was notified by ESL of multiple fraudulent charges on my account. If you've used that atm at all recently I would check your bank statements!

Stop the detention camp construction

full story; feds are pushing ahead with adding ice detention cells despite massive state and local objections - while this was part of a prior approval/agreement, that agreement never included long term holding facilities (specifically only an area for a few hrs processing was mentioned)

https://www.whec.com/local/ice-detention-facility-construction-to-start-soon-in-downtown-rochester-officials-react/

Second article/separate source: https://www.rochesterfirst.com/news/morelle-ice-detention-cells-in-downtown-rochester-moving-forward/

Also note; construction starts THIS WEEKEND - being done by SJ Thomas (the prime contractor). My understanding on the background of SJ Thomas; prior jobs all either state level or out of Syracuse. This is their first federal CBP project.

While Rochestarians may not have a whole lot of influence on a state contractor, still wanted to make folks aware who decided building ICE detention camp was worth it.

for those not already aware, ice and their contractors are massively incentivized to hold people, not to actually provide any timely processing, accuracy, or oversight of conditions. abuse and death in these private prisons are rife and protesters sometimes get taken there too when ice feels like it. most folks taken by ice have no criminal history now, at best they have a civil offense and many actually are here legally but ice still grabs them and takes a while to review their paperwork. https://www.npr.org/2026/03/10/g-s1-111238/immigration-detention-deaths-custody

Rochester is an amazing place to be vegan :o) 🌱

[i wanted to use the meme format so i replaced the image of the original asshole with a photo of my rabbit, Finnegan]

for a city of its size Rochester is absolutely flush with a wealth of both dedicated veg food spots and veg options all over town. i just feel so lucky!!!

some of my old and new favorites off the top of my head:

- vegan Cashew Later pizza at Cross Country Crumb
- literally anything on the menu + a Sweet Plvnts pastry at Grass Fed Vegan Butcher (but especially just a plain old bacon grilled cheese 😋)
- caesar salad at Red Fern
- vegan house made veg burger + a chocolate pb shake from Swillburger
- Madonn + loaded fries from Squatchos
- vegan BLT from Dogtown (and that quinoa burger special when they have it…. omfg. i dream about this regularly)
- vegan bacon/sausage egg and cheese on a Fox’s bagel from Montgomery Court
- literally anything drink + a black cat pastry from Clownboy
- the entire vegan menu of sushi at Keep it Rollin’

plus we have Veg Fest! i’ve actually never gone because i work food service myself so i’m always on the clock stuck behind the counter lol

plus x2 i feel very accommodated almost anywhere I go and i’ve made so many new friends and connections by just connecting over food and veganism <3

lmk if i’ve missed your personal fav OR just drop a comment saying something you love about being vegan in Flower City 🌸

Marks Pizzeria Dough Recipe

Hate on me all you want.. I used to love Marks Pizzeria as a child.

Now that i'm older and venturing into the world of making my own pizzas I have a desire to try to recreate that iconic, squishy, definitely not proofed long marks pizzeria dough.

Anyone happen to have or know of any recipes similar to Marks Pizzeria Dough??
