Visited two ADs as a first time Rolex buyer and put my name on “the list” for DJ36 configurations:

- 1st choice: two-tone, jubilee, fluted, olive dial
- 2nd choice: steel, jubilee, fluted, mint

Not sure what my wait will be of course without purchase history, but I was offered an in-stock domed, oyster, mint which is also beautiful and understated. I was surprised how much I liked it on. Not sure if it’s worth picking up for $8150 while I wait for two tone/olive. It’s my understanding that the greens are tougher to find. Thoughts?

My AD called and said he had a yacht master 40 blue dial and he sent me some photos. He takes some horrible photos and the watch looked so dusty I politely refused but after looking at the watch on YouTube and IG it grew on me. I picked it up today and I’m so glad I did. This is my new daily and I love it. I highly recommend you guys take a look at the YM40! It’s definitely a sleeper and under appreciated piece for sure. I told my AD that the YM40 was one of the pieces that was on my NO BUY list because it was so ugly but boy was I wrong.

My Dad gave me his Rolex for my 50th birthday. I have some Longines and Hamiltons, but nothing close to this. I have a couple of questions I hope to find answers to here. It's from the 1980's, but that's about all I know. It has all the original paperwork and box.

1. I need to get the bracelet resized. Should I take to an AD or could any watchmaker do it?

2. The bracelet links are also alittle loose. Can that be fixed?

3. I'd like to swap the bracelet out for leather straps. How hard is it to do that myself.

Anything else I should know. Thanks in advance.

I think it hits all the marks. Just got the Yacht Master 40 this week. Satisfied…for now.

Got the call! One week shy of a year ago I walked into AD and said I wanted a Starbucks or a no date. Didn’t think I’d get the choice within the year! Life has been hectic lately, could not have come at a better time. So pumped!

Quite happy with how it turned out! I am not a watchmaker whatsoever so it was quite nerve-wracking to pry off the bezel ring and pop it out, then reinstall it. But honestly it was not that difficult to do

Was told a steel GMT was not on the cards as the waiting list is over 3 years. But these are available to walk out with but at £16800 and £17000 they are £6K over budget. Love them both as well which is an added complication.

The face looks wrong. I can't find a single other one like it. Its old. My father has had for over 30 years but I was googling it and just can't find a match where the dials are spread the way this one is.

My grandfather gave this to me to get serviced however I'm sure it's fake. He gave me two others which I have had serviced at Rolex and I know are real. Those are a Daytona 16520 Black Dial and a submariner bluesy 16613. So I don't understand why he would own a counterfeit. Please give me a second opinion. He wore this everyday since he bought it in 1993 and swam in the sea basically every one of those days. However I'm still not convinced.

I got a lot of posts confirming the submariner I purchased was fake, and I wanted to share the update.

After everybody here confirming the watch was a rep, I also realized the serial number doesn’t match my receipt, so I immediately began to worry that the store would try and say that I swapped it with another watch and deny me anything. I assume it would also make it much more difficult for me to prove to the police for a report or my card company for a chargeback without matching serial numbers. This was stupid of me to not cross-check all of this, lesson learned.

Questions about the serial did in fact come up at the store and thankfully I had a picture from in-store that was clearly the same watch with matching serial, which they didn’t try to debate with me about.

The jewelry repair guy opened the watch, and stood by it being real. I really didn’t want to push it and have them push back on the serial number not matching, so I asked about them taking the watch back and they did take it back for store credit which is their return policy. This way I could get something else, and this time make sure all of my numbers match up, and they can’t try and tell me I swapped watches if this one also happens to be fake.

I ended up picking up an Explorer 40, and will attach those photos, and kept some store credit. I was also interested in an Explorer and had tried it on along with the sub, so if it’s real, I’ll be satisfied.

In addition to posting here, my plan is to head up to the closest Rolex service center which is about 1.5 hours away, and see if I can get them to confirm authenticity. If in fact there are two fake watches, I will certainly file a police report for selling fake goods, and at that point push for a refund.
