I’ve been looking into the current status of three of London’s biggest proposed rail projects: the Bakerloo line extension, Crossrail 2 and the DLR extension to Thamesmead.
I ended up making a video comparing how far each one has progressed, what’s holding them back and which one currently seems most likely to move forward.
I’m curious what people here think though: if London could prioritise just one, which would you choose and why?

Hi everyone, I desperately need 2 pairs of solar eclipse glasses and since everywhere is sold out, I thought I should come on here and ask. The next solar eclipse in uk isn’t until 2050 and I really want to watch today’s eclipse with my boyfriend! If there is anyone who can give me, I will be so grateful.

I’m around Greenwich park and looking for a place which sells glasses for tonight

Hi all, does anyone know how the timed-entry tickets work for tomorrow's partial solar eclipse event at the Royal Observatory Greenwich?

My friend managed to get two of the later tickets (last entry 4:30pm), but those have now sold out. I'm wondering whether, if I buy a ticket for an earlier slot such as 2pm, I can still arrive later in the evening to watch the eclipse, or whether entry is only permitted around the booked time.

I've tried calling the Observatory but haven't managed to get through. Any advice from someone who's been to a similar event there would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I thought the eclipse was on 22nd August instead of the 12th and therefore have left it very late by mistake to get eclipse glasses for the family! I don't trust the cheap ones on eBay to be legitimate/get here in time... Does anyone know where I could buy some in person, anywhere in central/SE London? The planetarium is out, according to the website.

EDIT: I've rung round a load of opticians and camera shops but no dice. I did find one online retailer (Absolute Eclipse) that will reach me on time or reimburse me, so although it's expensive (£44+£14 shipping for a six pack, which is the minimum available number for purchase) I've gone for that since for various reasons I've missed every eclipse in the last 35 years and really want to view this one. Hi all, I read an article that said the grassy slopes underneath the main viewpoint at Greenwich park was closed in May. Just wanted to check if that is still the case, was hoping to sit down there tomorrow. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Is it too late to get glasses now? If anyone knows where I can find them in stock please let me know. 🙏
