Can someone please explain to me exactly how Earth Dust works in the RWBY universe? I hear it get mentioned in fan-based works more often than in the actual show, so I don't fully know what its effects can do. Can anyone in the FNDM give me all the details?
Like for example, can Earth Dust be infused into your weapons haft/shaft (like for a spear or polearm) to make it basically unbreakable?

Fun fact about me: I am a HUGE fan of the band Sabaton. And recently, I have become addicted to their recent song, "A Tiger Among Dragons", which is based on the life of legendary Chinese warrior Lu Bu.
My addiction to this song, coupled with my plan to give Yang Xiao Long Lu Bu's weapon (the Fangtian Huaji) in addition to Ember Celica in my planned RWBY rewrite, has made me realize a question I should have asked the FNDM a LONG time ago.
That question is this: Who here in the RWBY FNDM has created an OC that is based on/inspired by Lu Bu? If you have created such an OC, then I want to hear all the details about them. Their backstory, their personality, their appearance, their weapon(s) and fighting style(s), their Semblance, the whole shebang.

Welcome to Episode 59 of "RWBY Reacts To Mythology", FNDM! On today's episode, we have another session where the heroes and villains of Remnant will be reacting to some of their mythological counterparts in our mythology movie theater.
This time around, FNDM, I want to know what you think the reactions and opinions of the RWBY ensemble, especially Ozpin, his fellow headmasters, and Glynda Goodwitch, would be after reacting to The Wizard Of Oz.

The snippet:
Chapter 1.
Wind whipped past her.
Ruby nearly missed another fallen tree, wrenching the reins hard enough that her horse shrieked in protest.
“Just a lil more,” she pleaded, voice ragged from panic and fear.
The mare’s flanks heaved beneath her. Foam flecked the bit. One wrong step on the path, and she could end up in worse wear.
Every bounce of the saddle sent pain twisting beneath the rough bandages wrapped around her stomach, hot and wet again despite her best efforts.
But she couldn’t think about her right now.
She had to get there.
If the people in town were telling the truth, the witch could save Yang. Maybe not whole. Maybe not unharmed.
But alive.
Ruby would take alive. Had to take alive. Even if she’d have to—
No! Focus!
The grip around her waist went slack.
Yang’s head slid forward, heavy against Ruby’s shoulder, breath burning weak and uneven at her collar.
“Hey—hey, no, don’t you do that,” Ruby whispered, voice cracking. “You don’t get to just—just leave me here with this, okay?! Not you!”
Yang’s eyes trembled open, unfocused and glassy, before shutting again like they were too heavy to hold up.
“R-Rubes..”
The word barely made it out. Like she wasn’t even sure she’d said it.
Ruby sucked in a sharp breath.
She had to hurry.
“I’ve got you,” Ruby muttered, though her voice shook worse than her hands.
The mare stumbled beneath them.
Once. Twice.
Ruby barely corrected the reins in time, her arms burning with every movement. Her stomach flared hot beneath the bandages, but she didn’t slow.
Couldn’t slow.
“C’mon…” she hissed through clenched teeth. “C’mon, you stupid—just a little more…”
The trees began to thin.
Not much. Just enough for Ruby to notice something wrong with the world ahead.
The path didn’t feel natural anymore.
It… bent.
Not physically. Not clearly.
Just wrong in a way she couldn’t explain.
It had to be the witch's work, right?!
Please let it be hers!
Ruby spurred Scarlet on.
“Go, girl. We’re nearly there!”
Scarlet’s hooves hit softer ground.
Wrongly soft.
Like the earth had been walked too many times in the same pattern.
Ruby swallowed hard.
A well-traveled path.
That was the only thing that made sense anymore.
And with the sun dipping, she was running out of light.
Very soon.
Yang shifted faintly behind her again, a weak sound caught in her throat.
Not a word this time.
Just air. Too thin.
Ruby tightened her grip instinctively, knuckles white on the reins.
“Stay with me,” she pleaded, voice breaking. “You stay with me. You don’t get to fall asleep yet.”
Scarlet slowed.
Not from command.
From refusal.
“No—no, no, no,” Ruby begged, pulling harder at the reins. “You can’t give up on me now. Please.”
Scarlet took another step.
Then another.
Hesitant. Uneven.
Ruby leaned forward, as if she could force momentum through will alone. Her arms shook from strain, but she didn’t loosen her grip.
“C’mon…” she whispered. “C’mon, just—just a little more. You can do it. We’re here. We’re right here…”
The trees weren’t just thinning now.
They were opening.
Like something had been carved through them.
Not broken.
Cleared.
Deliberately.
Ruby’s breath caught.
Marks lined the nearby trunks.
Not random scratches. Not animal damage.
Too precise.
Too consistent.
“Damnit, Scarlet,” Ruby snapped, yanking the reins harder. “Please, I’m right there! Just move!”
The mare panted and heaved beneath her, but pushed on at a walking pace. Barely able to move.
Then Ruby saw it.
Light.
Faint and gold behind curtained windows.
Her breath caught so sharply it hurt.
A cabin sat beyond the trees, tucked into the clearing like the forest had grown around it instead of the other way around.
Smoke curled from a stone chimney into the darkening sky.
A lantern swayed gently near the porch. Burning a strange blue as it swayed in the soft wind.
“Yang!” Ruby cried out in relief. “We’re there! We found her!”
A soft, disapproving grunt left Yang’s lips. But she clearly didn’t have the energy left to try and talk Ruby out of it again.
Not that Ruby would’ve listened.
The town doctor had barely managed to close her wounds before muttering about infection and prayer like those were the same damn thing.
The mare staggered beneath them.
Hard enough this time that Ruby nearly lost her grip on the reins.
“Easy—easy…” she grumbled, tightening her hold as Scarlet fought to stay upright.
The cabin looked closer now.
For some initial context, I commissioned this piece from an irl friend a few days before Ruby took a sip of that delicious tea Neo served her, and worked with it thinking that the chapter would be ready for that same winter XD
3 long years later, Volume 1 of our fic One Last Patch is almost complete! Nearly 800k words (maybe too many...) Ruby has finally arrived at the place she was always destined to be, with Gretchen revealing to the world the solution to stopping the tragedy of Beacon from happening over and over again: mass-producing Silver Eyed Warriors to unleash against Salem and the Grimm!
And of course, Yang, Weiss, and Blake completely oppose it, ready to stand against all of Vale’s hatred to save Ruby, with the help of the mysterious Alyx and Jimmy Vanille! If you want to give it a shot, I know it says it’s a pollination fic, but that’s a very, very, very minor element included mostly so we can occasionally explore Bumblebee, Freezeburn, and all the ships without hate or love triangles getting in the way. More than anything, the fic tries to be an cool adventure first, with the best red hood reaper the medium has ever give us as main character!
Welcome to the newest episode of "RWBY Reacts To Mythology", FNDM. On today's episode, the heroes and villains of Remnant are having another viewing of one of their mythological counterparts/bases, this time for Lie Ren of Team JNPR.
That's right, FNDM. Today, Teams RWBY, JNPR, CFVY, and the rest of the RWBY character ensemble, heroes and villains alike, shall react to the legend of Lie Ren's inspiration, Hua Mulan.
And yes, the RWBY ensemble will be reacting to both the original myth from Chinese mythology, and Disney's version of the tale (the animated version, NOT the live-action version).

IDW & Viz Media already worked together on Ninja Turtles/Naruto comic crossover miniseries so working together wouldn't be new
What do you think of IDW Turtles meeting Team RWBY since they similar yet different dynamics I think it would be interesting considering both teams been though a lot
If you really think about it Ninja Turtles was Team RWBY before Team RWBY specially the comic versions of the Turtles they basically protected the formula the RWBY has been trying to get right for years

Yang is basically one who sees the light within the dark well Ruby to but with her it is more of an occasional thing you know because of all the stress Ruby has gotten over the past 9 volumes & demons she is carrying here & there
But with Yang she really does see the best well more or less
Got me thinking how do you imagine a Yang solo adventure being like?
I always thought it should be a classic Old West adventure since Yang kinda looks like a Cowgirl so would bring everything Full Circle with that alone with the looking she been looking for plus imagine Yang with cowboy hat
Maybe something about else discovery to fighting some sort of monster to like as sort of a boss level thing maybe something related to her past?

First and foremost, I know this is belated, but a VERY happy birthday to our favorite resident ice queen, Weiss Schnee!
Second, I'd like to get the FNDM's thoughts on a trope regarding Weiss I've seen in RWBY fanfiction that I absolutely love. The trope in question is Weiss being introduced to "fast food" by her teammates.
The basic gist of the trope is pretty simple: Weiss has lived her life eating a very refined and cultured diet, but at some point her teammates introduce her to fast food, and she very quickly becomes addicted to it.
The first time I ever saw this trope was the story "On Silver Wings, With Iron Hearts" by "ClemPrime" on AO3. (Spoiler Alert) At one point in that story, Weiss's teammates basically call out how dainty and small Weiss's meals have been, and they conclude that her father was attempting to starve her by making her follow the diet she's been following. So they resolve to solve this problem by introducing her to fast food, and Weiss very quickly learns she absolutely loves its taste.
Another part of this trope that I find always results in pure comedy gold is when her teammates introduce Weiss to fast food, she's completely baffled by the concept of fast food as a whole. One of my favorite examples that use this type of storyline is "It's Bo Time!" by "SnowQueenOfMyHeart" (also on AO3), where Yang treats her teammates to the Cajun fast food place Bojangles, and Weiss has no idea what to make of a lot of the food and drink there ("Who puts ICE in tea?!").
So who else in the FNDM likes this idea of Weiss very quickly developing a craving for fast food? Is this a trope/story device that you would probably use yourself in your own writings to flesh out her character? Lastly, what type of fast food do you think Weiss would come to love the most?

I've got a question for the FNDM regarding a feature of Nora Valkyrie's outfit.
My question is, do you feel that it is mandatory for Nora's outfit to have that heart-shaped cutout in its chest?
Up until they get to Atlas and get new outfits, Nora's outfit has always had that heart-shaped cutout in the chest area. But the Atlas version doesn't have that feature.
This appears to be something I've seen a lot of negative reactions to. Sometimes I've even heard the same be said for fanmade RWBY projects. One such example is Nora's design in the fan-project RWBY Evermorrow. I've seen some reactors on YouTube look at Nora's design and basically say, "It's okay, but it needs the heart symbol on the chest. Otherwise it doesn't feel like Nora."
So is the general consensus that Nora's designs are better when she has the heart symbol on her chest, or are there sections of the FNDM that are okay with it being absent?

That's right, FNDM, today I want to know what you think the reactions and opinions of the RWBY ensemble would be after they've reacted to the story and world of Robert E. Howard's iconic character, Conan the Barbarian. And to clarify, the characters from RWBY will be reacting to the original novels, the comics/graphic novels, AND the Arnold Schwarzenegger film duology.

Just a few minutes ago, my brain was imagining random scenarios for RWBY AUs and one of them immediately grabbed my attention.
In this scenario, it gets revealed that Ruby Rose and Salem are actually RELATED to each other. More specifically, Salem is Ruby's grandmother (in the scenario I imagined, Summer Rose is still Ruby's mom, but Ruby's dad is actually a son of Salem, making Salem Ruby's grandmother).
Has anyone in the FNDM written (or considered writing) any piece of RWBY fanfiction where Ruby is Salem's granddaughter in some way? This feels like a plot twist that could potentially create some very compelling story drama.

Welcome to the newest episode of "RWBY Reacts To Mythology," FNDM! On today's visit to our mythology movie theater, the heroes and villains of Remnant shall react to the Middle East's most iconic collection of myths and legends: The Arabian Nights.
Since there are so many tales in the Arabian Nights, we are mainly going to have the RWBY heroes and villains react to arguably the three most famous ones: Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Sinbad the Sailor, and of course, Aladdin, the inspiration behind Remnant's very own Emerald Sustrai. And in the case of Aladdin, the RWBY ensemble will also be reacting to the Disney version (the animated one) in addition to the original myth.
So what do you believe the reactions and opinions of the RWBY ensemble would be after reacting to the tales from the Arabian Nights? What do you believe Emerald would think of her mythological basis/counterpart?

I've got a question regarding what Oscar's Semblance could be.
A large portion of the FNDM appears to be in agreement that Oscar's Semblance should be something to do with manipulating time. But I'm curious as to how far everyone thinks that power should extend.
Should it just be a single variant of manipulating time, like only the ability to rewind time? Should it be like in Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, where Link can rewind time for objects but not people? Or should it be like the Prince Of Persia Trilogy, and Oscar can learn how to rewind, slow, freeze, AND accelerate time (for himself)?
If Oscar DOES get a time-related Semblance, which version do you think he should have? Or should he have a completely different Semblance in your eyes?

Recently got back into fanfiction and have mostly burned through completed Couer works. I’ve mostly been searching by favorites when I’m in the mood for a different writer. What are some of the best completed RWBY fics? I tried Self-Made Man, Of the Pen and the Sword, and Man of No Tribe, but got bored of all the angst.
Because I feel like we know a how lot and just about nothing about Willow as a character, and these massive gaps in her current lore could leads to interesting worldbuilding.
