RWBY Reacts To The RWBY Multiverse-Episode 99: "Ruby's New Power" Comic Dub By Suzaku_vt On YT

Welcome to episode 99 of the discussion and survey series, "RWBY Reacts To The RWBY Multiverse," FNDM!

We are just one episode away from the 100-episode milestone in this series. So with that in mind, I first want to thank every single member of the FNDM who has taken the time to participate in this series. It means the absolute world to me whenever you view my posts and/or leave responses.

That said, the show must go on. For today's episode, the heroes and villains of Remnant Prime will be reacting to another comic dub in our multiversal theater and museum. Specifically they will be reacting to the FNDM member Suzaku_vt's dub of the fan-comic "Ruby's New Power".

This comic takes place in a universe where Team STRQ is still together, but Summer Rose married Qrow Branwen, thus making Ruby and Yang cousins instead of sisters. On this particular day, Ruby's about to unlock a brand new power, one that will give her father quite a shock!

Planned RWBY Rewrite: New Backstory For Yang (Image Courtesy Of Shana340 On DeviantArt)

Several days ago, I made a post stating that for my planned RWBY rewrite, I was changing the Semblance of Yang Xiao Long. In that post, I mentioned that I would be doing a follow-up post to describe how I would also be changing her backstory for my rewrite.

The first step in rewriting Yang's backstory was altering Raven's reason(s) for leaving Yang. In my planned rewrite, Raven left for multiple reasons. First, she did NOT have a good relationship with her own mother, and she was worried that she would end up treating Yang the same way her mother treated her. Second, Raven was already the Spring Maiden by the time she was pregnant with Yang (as well as receiving her ability to transform into a raven from Ozpin), so she didn't want to put a target on Yang's back for any of her enemies. Third, Raven felt Yang deserved a better life than the life of a bandit, where she'd be constantly on the move/run and never knowing who to trust.

The only person Raven ever told these reasons to was Summer, and though Summer promised to tell Yang these reasons, she ended up getting killed by Salem before she had the chance to do so. Like in canon, Taiyang shut down after Summer died, and Yang tried to find Raven like in canon to "make dad stop acting like a zombie". When she encountered the Grimm, Yang threw herself on top of Ruby to protect her, but unbeknownst to her, the Grimm were unable to reach them because of a "supernatural fire" (which is NOT connected to her new Semblance I've given her) that had encased the two children and burned the Grimm every time they tried to attack Yang and Ruby. This fire (which Yang will learn to consciously use during my Volume 5) is actually a small portion of the Spring Maiden power that broke off and entered Yang's body while she was still growing in Raven's womb. By the time Qrow and Raven had cleared out the Grimm, Yang and Ruby had both passed out and had to be carried back to the house. Taiyang and Qrow begged Raven to return, but she refused, citing that she couldn't forgive Ozpin for what happened to Summer.

Here's where the major difference between canon RWBY and my rewrite occurs. Upon recovering, Yang in my planned rewrite completely gives up on searching for Raven altogether. "I don't care about Raven anymore, Dad. If she hadn't left us, I wouldn't have nearly gotten Ruby KILLED trying to find her. I hate Raven, Dad. I hate her, and I hope she never comes back. From now on, I put Ruby first, in all matters." And Yang did exactly that. From that point on, she dedicated her entire life to taking care of the family that she DID have, instead of looking for one that "ran away". Yang's dedication inspired Tai to step back up and come out of his depression, but part of Yang still slightly resented him for shutting down like he did.

Yang's fierce desire to protect and care for her family, especially Ruby, resulted in her new Semblance in my rewrite: Draconian Armor. When Yang activates her Semblance, her body emits a golden glow and her skin takes on the appearance of dragon scales. While she is in this state, Yang's physical strength, her damage output, and her ability to absorb punishment increase dramatically. However (on advice from fellow FNDM members), the longer she is in this state, the angrier and more reckless she becomes. The source of this anger that is the downside for her Semblance is her resentment towards Raven for abandoning (in her eyes) their family, and also towards Taiyang for not stepping up and being there for her and Ruby earlier than he did.

By the time she's about to enter Beacon (Beacon starts at age 20 in my rewrite), Yang has grown into a fierce fighter, and an even more fiercely devoted family member. She is extremely family-oriented, very protective and caring of those she loves, and she hates when people she considers family do things like fight, keep secrets from each other, or try to do everything by themselves with no regard to their own well-being. She has also kept true to her word about not looking for Raven at all. In fact, every time someone tries to bring up Raven, Yang's response is to say "Nope. Not interested," and walk away.

In Yang's "Yellow" trailer in my rewrite, she's at Junior's bar just to relax and have a drink, not because she's looking for information from him. The bar fight starts because several patrons at the bar got too handsy with her and wouldn't take "no" for an answer. After the fight, one patron who took shelter and avoided the fight asks Yang if she is Raven's daughter. When Yang asks who he is, he reveals he's a member of Raven's tribe, but again, she blows him off, saying she isn't interested in hearing what he has to say.

In the aftermath of the Breach, however, she finds the Branwen Tribe member again and demands to know why Raven saved her on the train after being absent from her life for so long. The tribe member takes Yang to a private vault that Raven set up for Yang, and inside that vault is basically all the years of Yang's childhood with Raven that she missed out on. Raven, as it turned out, had been taking the majority of her cut every time the Branwen Tribe scored a major heist and spending it on Yang. This revelation shocks Yang to her core and raises more questions than answers, but she doesn't let herself become obsessed with finding Raven upon learning this. Instead, Yang elects to let Raven come to HER, and instead maintains her focus on taking care of the family that she does have.

My endgame with Yang in my planned rewrite for RWBY was that I wanted to make her less of a cocky hothead, and takes into account the consequences of her actions much more frequently than she did in canon. I wanted to make her more Mama Bear instead of Goldilocks, and I think I've achieved that objective to the best of my ability.

Knights Of The Round Table=Camelot's Spec-Ops?

I recently watched a video on YouTube by the channel "MythxHunter" which talked about the "most lethal armies in mythology", and one of the "armies" included was the Round Table Knights.

Well, watching this video got me really thinking hard on this topic. My first impression was, "Why are they included in this video? They're not an army. They're King Arthur's personal guard."

But then I thought more on the subject, and realized that Arthur's knights weren't just his personal guard. They were the ones constantly going on quests and adventures that no one else dared go on. And as an aspiring military historian, the more I looked into this, the more the Round Table Knights started looking like a special forces (spec-ops) group instead of just a king's royal guard.

So that's my question for this community. If we view the Knights of the Round Table through a military lens/perspective, were they basically the spec-ops group of Camelot's military forces?
