Insane captaincy record for Bavuma

Small sample size but Bavuma could lose 10 in a row and still be 1st.

South Africa favourites for both series this winter as well.

What made Simon Harmer so effective against India?

Simon Harmer’s performance against India in 2025 was a great example of how much control and experience matter in spin bowling.

His numbers across two Tests were remarkable

17 wickets at an average of 8.94
Economy rate of just 1.91
Strike rate of 28 balls per wicket
8/51 in Kolkata and 9/101 in Guwahati

What impressed me was how he used his variations without becoming predictable. He maintained a consistent arm speed while changing his pace, flight and seam position.

His use of overspin generated extra bounce, which was particularly effective against Yashasvi Jaiswal in Guwahati.

He also kept attacking the stumps rather than bowling defensive lines.
Years of county cricket with Essex clearly helped him understand his strengths.

He wasn’t relying entirely on turning pitches. Even on a relatively flat Guwahati surface, he found ways to trouble the batters.

Do you think Harmer’s success was primarily down to his bowling intelligence, or did India’s batters struggle to read his variations?

32 years post 1994..

Now don't get me wrong im all for choosing the best performing players as the only criteria, but more than 30 years later we enter a big series with only 2 players from previously disadvantaged communities starting..granted injuries have played a part,SA cricket must do better

Poor Camerawork at the ProT20 Cup

I'm glad that CSA has launched the ongoing Pro20 Cup (replacing the T20 Challenge & T20 Knockout). However, it is plagued by a familiar problem found across most televised CSA tournaments: poor camerawork.

Oftentimes, the camera is shaky. Also, the shot isn't zoomed in enough when balls are bowled. I've also seen the pitch being off-centre on screen. And catches and spills are regularly missed (like in the Knights v. Tuskers game currently I'm watching).

This is disappointing because the ProT20 is great exposure for so many teams that previously wouldn't be on live television.
