core time

Sounds like y'all should've never gotten rid of the full-time stylists or constantly screwed over the ones that stayed. The lack of flexibility has not impacted my relationship clients at all. Who does it benefit, then? So proud of everyone speaking up on the Slack channels. I feel like if we're all ok with the reduced core time, they'll use this as a test run and stick with it. Can't wait to hear about my lead's incredible 4th of july weekend tomorrow AM though.

Less core time

Maybe if flexibility wasn’t taken away and stylists weren’t being fired/quitting every day, we would have enough employees to style all of the fixes out there and even possibly pick up extra hours. But instead, they’re just going to take our core time away so we’re FORCED to style more without getting to take breaks during our strict/unchangeable schedules. Oh and make sure you’re not idle too long while styling or they’ll fire you for that too 🙃

I quit.

I just can’t believe what this job has turned into. I was hired 6 years ago and was so excited to be a stylist. Never thought it would be a job where I was unnecessarily micromanaged to this extent and take such a terrible toll on my mental health. It was really hard to leave, but it’s a huge relief to not have to listen to any more bullshit word salads and be made to feel inferior. I just can’t handle it anymore.
I really hope things somehow improve for you that are still hanging on. Upper level management should be ashamed of themselves for the way they treat stylists.

Gaslit and then fired

Well, after 9 years as a stylist, I just got fired for time keeping violations. It wasn't that I would change my schedule or forget to clock in/out--it was that I had "idle" time while I was clocked in to style. Never mind that my efficiency was always 105% or more. Apparently, you cannot even check your feedback while you are clocked in to style.

My original lead was such an understanding and sympathetic manager, but then she went on maternity leave. I was placed with a tyrannical, micromanaging lead, who never wanted to get to know those below her.

My mean girl lead gaslit me by sending me a slack message saying, "HI! I hope all is well. I sent a message in R**** a few weeks ago but did not see your response. I have been working through the WYB metric and noticed this is still an opportunity. Do you have some time in the next week to review some Fixes together?"

I went into the meeting thinking we were going to style together, but she cut straight to the point and fired me.

To the mean girl leads, you are no better than the stylists who you manage. In fact you're worse--you chose to lose your full time pay and benefits, and choose daily to micromanage and bully those of us who are just trying to do our jobs. I keep trying to justify how a lead can be so mean and miserable, and the only reason I can come up with is the only part of their life that they can exert what little power they have.

EDIT: Use your sick time!!! I was just informed my 20 hours of unused sick time will not be paid out.

Beyond Frustrated with First Fix Review

We only get 10mins to do these damn FF’s & you’re expecting us to make it a knockout. WTF. This is RUINING my efficiency. Don’t use the AI note, but yes only use a little from the note. If it’s such a problem, then do a company wide training so we can see wtf we’re doing wrong. 10mins isn’t enough. I’m sorry. 11.5 - 12 I think is more reasonable. But am I thinking? Our opinions don’t matter.

Mental Health

Is anyone taking advantage of the 2 hour mental health awareness assignment? It would be nice to just sit and listen for 2 hours. We can also reduce styling time by 2 hours, but I am just thinking it might be “frowned upon” with management and the need for Fixes to be styled right now.

First Fix Review

For those that have to have your lead review your First Fixes. . . . how is this going for you? For me, it's just another example of my lead being able to pick apart everything I do. Again, my metrics were above the benchmark across the board for First Fixes. It was never even something that I worried about. And now I'm just getting told that I'm bad at another aspect of my job. . . it's seriously so exhausting and stressful.

Core time vs. Styling time

What are your thoughts on how efficient/helpful core vs. styling time is. Do we have enough core time? Not enough? I think the balance of core vs. styling time could be better. But what would that look like if it was changed? Trying to find a way to articulate it, but at a loss.

Thoughts?

I have noticed that when finding this Reddit I have had a more negative attitude. I’m not standing up for anything that we go through, it’s all true - everything here. However does anyone else feel that staying away or not engaging
In the negativity has helped?

I’m asking because I NEED this job. if I keep looking toward the negative it will hold me in a negative space. Anyone else have input on this? Trust me- if I had another income that was as significant as this is (even without raises, etc) that I’d be out, telling everyone above my thoughts exactly. But in the meantime, what do you all think?

Scheduling

I’m trying to maintain a positive outlook but idk if I can anymore. I have another job that fluctuates from time to time and my lead knew that. Now all of a sudden that isn’t okay and I’m getting this bullshit micromanaging speech about “timekeeping policy.” You think I don’t know this? Some of us can’t afford to have 1 job!

The memes are fine

But don't you dare post tech issues to this channel on a weekend when there's not many people working in hopes of finding out from the ones that are if it's widespread this is for official business of memes only

Grateful for the people in /all for speaking up about First Look!

Loved logging in today and seeing us “winning as a team” 😂

Crazy how we’re getting gaslit about how successful it is when it hasn’t even been around that long. Because their “data” says so? Their “data” and tech have proved time and time again how broken and wrong it is. 🙄
