Important!!!! A management member contacted me regarding previous post

He contacted me regarding this post-
https://www.reddit.com/r/SNUC/s/siQzVX31UW

According to them the management is closely following our concerns and
outrages in reddit and are taking necessary steps for a clear and transparent process

I want u guys to take note of it before posting any sensitive information even though they assured me they won’t take note of such information and neither will it affect your chances

According to them there is a huge competition for CS core, and students opting for specialisation have better chances to get the specialisation and specialisation is encouraged over CS core, and so they are compelled to use boards as a weightage/tie breaker.
So boards are used as tie breaker in case the demand is high and there is no specific cutoff for the branches

Those students who didn’t get CS or their first preference in this round have a chance in the further rounds to get 2nd or lower preferences depending on the demand

They told that this confusion is mainly due to the merger and they will try to make it better and for the next year students it will be much better

I don’t have any more info, so please dont msg me regarding it and they have asked not to reveal their id

All the best guys

A general idea on the admission process

Basic eligibility is 75% in Higher secondary.

Then next filtering is SNUCEE. People who get interview are mostly people who clear SNUCEE.

Remember, people who scored very high on JEE mains might get direct interview.

Then there are people filtered based on interview.

Probably they will prepare an internal rank list based on higher secondary + SNUCEE + interview. Remember, people who consistently perform well on all 3 will be higher up the rank. People who generally do well in boards will be expected to do generally well in SNUCEE and interview.

If people did well in all three and based on demand for a course, the seats will get filled based on preference given. Refer SSN last year TNEA cutoff to get an idea on the demand for each course.

Based on how many join from offers, seats will get filled. If people reject offers, then the next set of offers may get released for the same phase or the next phase. The process will continue until all phases and waitlist candidates are over and all seats are filled.

IS THERE NO USE OF SNUCEE EXAM? ARE INTERVIEW LETTERS BASED ON BOARDS MARKS ONLY?

So all are thinking interview letters is based on Boards marks my friend who got 98.7 in state boards and freaking 100% in PCM didnt tget the Interview letter. She told that she did below average in SNUCEE exam so intervies is based on SNUCEE exam in my opinion.

Doubt about my program

My stats (94.2% Boards CBSE, Jee less than 80%ile)

I recently recieved my offer letter to join SSN SoE at SNU for CSE (IoT), my first preference was AI DS , 2nd was Cyber, and 3rd was IoT. I am not so happy with what I got, and in the offer letter they said that I can only apply (not guarantee) for a change of my program only after paying full fees.

I want to know how different the IoT program is compared to CSE Core (which I will be more than happy to study at SNU). Will I be studying the same thing in IoT as Cse core?

It would also be great if I could get a contact of someone currently studying CSE at SNUC

Also just to add, when I tried mailing SNUC asking if I could get some guarantee that I could be slid into CSE Core, they gave a very blunt reply saying that it is not negotiable (even tho in the offer letter it said it was negoatiable after paying fees) and that I should basically get lost if I am not happy with what I got.

WE GOT SCAMMED

Yep interview is just for namesake it does not even carry 5 % weightage for admission.
Eligibility criteria - 120+/200 in snucee or 90% in jee mains
Real admission - ppl who are ranked in the top in the order of board exam marks get a real chances. 80-90 we got no shot at this. CSE gonna fill at 95%. Ece and other spec -90%.
Ppl who got 80-90 percent in boards but got 180+ in snucee and did interview well also not have a chance. Man today was my interview and i totally witnessed it. Ppl like just give up and look for other clgs

STUDENTS WHO ARE GOING TO ATTEND THE INTERVIEW -VERY IMPORTANT

Just ask the coordinators whether scoring 90% or above only is considered for circuital branches like ece... Or one can get into ece even with 89.5%...ask this and let me know what was the response.... (Trust me it will be really helpful to get out of frustration after interview) JUST COMMENT YES if u can help me with this

Admission criteria and Interview

  1. I just finished my interview today, one thing I learnt is questions asked are based on your first pref and not random, so if ur first pref ain’t CS or AIDS or Cyber, get ready to be asked y this course when many go for the above ones.
Also the panel members are changed everyday, so someone who is in 8 today wont be in 8 the next day.

  2. Regarding admission criteria, I asked a staff member(not a panel member nor a professor, ig in administration), the weightage they give is
60-65%- Boards(90%+ total is expected, especially for CS or circuital)
    30-35%-SNUCEE
0-5%-Interview, they just see clarity and communication.
JEE doesn’t carry much weightage it seems

They just wasted my time

These mfs could have just typed ONE LINE in their brochure saying that board marks matter. What did they do ? “75% criteria”. Idts I’m the only one who feels this but the only reason I even applied was because I thought that the tnea system was gone and maybe if I get like 80% and do well in their entrance I would get into the college. Well that ain’t the case now. Any one who got low in boards we don’t even stand a chance in this college now. THEY JUST WASTED OUR TIME.

Body of the E-mail being sent to SNUC, if many of us send the same email there is a chance that we get a reply, u can modify it however u want, as i have included some of my own marks

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to formally request greater transparency in your current admission process, in strict accordance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) Guidelines on Public Self-Disclosure. As mandated by the UGC, higher education institutions must make their complete seat matrix, reservation breakdowns, and the final selection scores/merit lists publicly available without requiring a login. Transparency in these criteria is a regulatory requirement designed to ensure fairness for all applicants. I kindly urge the institution to publish these details on its official portal immediately to maintain compliance with UGC standards.

Thousands of applicants including me have questions about the criteria that is being implemented to choose the candidate that receives the admission letter. Is it based on SNUCEE, JEE, Board marks, Interview and if it is a combination we would like to know the weightage of it for circuital and non-circuital branches. I personally have gotten 84-85 percentile in JEE Mains and 85.6 in Board Examination and my preferred branch was B.Tech in Computer Science (Cybersecurity). There has been no transparency with the applicants and when we contact the help-desk we do not get any replies or they do not respond to our quieres hence I have resorted to writing this email to you. I would also like to know if the people who have received their offer letters in phase 1 will be the ONLY people selected from phase 1 or are there others who will be sent offer letters on a later date or will others be given a consideration after all phases are completed and the seats have not been filled completely. All the applicants including me, all we want is transparency from the admissions office on the selection criteria, I hope this email reaches you and receives a justified reply that satisfies everyone who has questions on the selection criteria. I would also like to know the last date that we have to receive our offer letters incase we have not yet.

Thanking you

Yours sincerely

<Your Name>
