This was originally drawn as part of a larger pic in speculation of the inevitable end route of the weird route or even to possibly what the prophecy demands, heavily inspired by the EU5 song "Pain is Salvation" shown at the bottom. Susie and Kris would look defeated(Kris espescially is balled up and not showing their face) while Ralsei is just clothes, their positions and Noelles forming the deltarune symbol.

Knight would be on the side, helmet off but in shadow, but implying its a weeping Dess who wanted to avoid this, as the Titans rise from the background, implying it is the apocalypse with Noelle taking, reluctantly, the position of Angel to save them.

Course, Chapter 5 and the weird route does throw alot of wrenches into that idea and I used alot of its symbolism for this. I did think of just sketching it out and showing that to gauge response. Point I'm getting at is, the question: "Should I continue this pic anyway?" even if I scrapped it I'm keeping this cause of how much I like it. Could suggest it to be the possible end route of the prophecy but who knows how accurate that is either.

Y'know, I love how Toby Fox just bitchslaps every fan interpretation Noelle.

It's pretty interesting that the weird route and the normal route Noelle are the same person in different conditions.

The normal route is about healthy coping mechanisms vs very unhealthy ones. It's written as she was in a bad state of mind, potentially suicidal thoughts, normal route helping and uplifting her, while Weird route feeds into her ̶ ̶T̶R̶U̶T̶H̶ delusions.

Weird route is just Noelle being enabled to do the impossible, things she wouldn't dare to do normally because of social pressure and cowardliness, being Noelle doing Noelle things. Same person, same insecurities, same buried anger, just one route gives her a lifeline and the other gives her permission, to grow wings and #####.

Honestly, I find it crueler to subject Noelle in the normal route not realizing she's an NPC enslaved to the prophecy than in the weird route... The theory is that she was actually supposed to be a protagonist beside Kris in chapter 1 but Susie came too late to class and had been told to get chalk when Noelle was supposed to go, then we followed.

So in the normal route she's just sidelined, given comfort but not agency. The Weird route at least treats her like she matters, even if it's in the worst way possible... hehehe...
