I love this thing

I love this thing

My wife and I recently picked up a 2022 model with 3200 miles - the first 100 miles have been such a joy.

I normally commute on a Z650RS, but I can’t seem to take it out unless we ride together. Would I be crazy if we ended up with two SVs?

Anyway, I see why this thing is a cult classic. I don’t think we’ll be letting go of it anytime soon.

New build

Did a big refresh on my sv650 this winter. Didn't get the graphics cut before the first trackday though!

SV650 as a third bike !

So my girlfriend has finally decided to get her motorcycle license, which I’m really happy about. Budget is a bit tight though, so she’ll be borrowing whatever I end up buying and hopefully doing her test on it too.

I’ve been looking at the SV650. Around here everyone seems to go straight for the MT-07, but I’ve always liked the character and sound of twins, plus the SV seems simple to work on and kind of has all the basics nailed down. Haven’t actually test ridden one yet since there aren’t many nearby, so I’m relying a bit on you guys here 😄

Current garage is a VFR800 and a DRZ400S. The SV would mainly be for her practice riding, but also for shorter fun rides, maybe some light track days and general messing around. I’d like something nimble and playful, which the VFR isn’t.

What else is it to take into consideration?

The low speed test is often what most fail here and what about the SVs low RPM assist? Is it a drawback here for doing crawling speed below 5kmph?

SV insurance compared to other bike?

Hi all, I am going through my DAS and have been riding my 06 SV650s for about 2 years now, I have overall 3 years no claims also. My insurance quotes on that are giving me about £32 a month, however when I change to any kind of inline 3 or 4 whether it be a gsxr600 or a daytona or even a cfmoto 675 theyre all like 120 a month, is it like a bite the bullet for a year type thing or am I just getting really high prices. Thanks in advance, id just like to know as id love to try something with a new powerplant and if its just for a year im sure I can manage

Australian ECU swap

I’m currently looking to swap out a LAMS restricted ECU for a full power one.

I’ve come across this listing at a very reasonable price https://www.oemmotorparts.com/en/product/suzuki/3290018810-033290018810-ecm-set

Was just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with oemmotorparts.com before pulling the trigger.

Pricing in Australia for a new regular ECU is around $2,000 or $700 to even get one flashed.

Appreciate any advice with this process, have a pic of my SV for reading :)

Been rocking a radial master cylinder for a month. A review

Why do they just not come this way from the factory? This is hands down my favorite modification of all time. Much more front brake control and confidence. All of my bikes from here on out are getting radial masters.

Got this unit from SVRacingparts with some Galfer stainless brake hoses. For the record, I’m not a track rider. This is my daily driver.

Nothing Else Like It

This thing has an unmatched level of raw power and mechanical feel that makes it feel so much better to ride

Electrical issues?

06 sv650 with some aftermarket LED’s, exhaust, etc. Will randomly shut off on me during rides, no rhyme or reason (rpm, gear, angle, temp) that I can tell. Initial thoughts are stator and rectifier but the bike always turns back on after a couple minutes just sitting completely off. Any thoughts?

Friendly reminder to look after your clutch actuator

I was used to a heavy clutch from my ‘94 Ducati m600, so I didn’t think anything of it. But today I took it out to clean it and re grease it - turns out it was warped, the inner sleeve was chewed up slightly, and only had like three ball bearings inside. £100 later (with next day delivery) I can pull my clutch with one finger!!

New toy!

Hey guys!

So I picked up a sv1000s over the weekend for pretty cheap. I've already changed the screen to black and removed the top box (not for me just yet). I'm looking to change the hoses back to black as well.

Can anyone tell me if one of the previous owners had drilled into the rear to fit those after market lights or is it a tail tidy I can't find?

Also looking like I need to replace the rad fan as well as it's getting stuck.

Carbon exhaust?

Saw somewhere that carbon exhausts didn't liked the hot V twin exhaust gases and may excessively wear over a short time

Anyone tried ?

Edit: I order I stainless steel exhaust, but they sent a carbon one. Since shipping time is huge, I may just keep the carbon exhaust. Didn't rode with this exhaust yet since I broke the damn exhaust bolts in the front cylinder so I might be able to send it back if carbon is that shitty

So I screwed up changing my oil

2022 SV650

So I'm a giant idiot and decided to change my oil and removed the wrong bolt. Can anyone tell me what bolt I took out, of I broke anything big, and what torque I should use to put it back in?

I tried going through the service manual, but I have no idea what section I should be looking in.

Tail tidy experience with wet roads

Trying to decide about getting a tail tidy as I would love the look but I do ride in UK and we have (surprise surprise) often shitty weather and rain.

I've read online that some bikes with tail tidy can be a mess as the water/dirt from the road can jump all the way up to your back.

What is the situation with the SV650 and tail tidy on wet roads?

Is it worth the change? I know it's purely estetic (unless I'm missing a positive side of it?) but want to be sure that it won't be bringing more problem than pretty solution.

Thx!

Lower fairing repair

Hello,

My 99 650S needs a few touch-ups, this being one of them. Looks like a bolt snapped on the lower fairing.

Has anyone experienced this, or have any good ideas on a fix?

Where to mount no-cut frame slider on the 2nd gen?

On photos i often see frame sliders either mounted on spot A or B. Didn't find a single tutorial video for the no-cut sliders, can I mount it on either of the spots or not? Thanks
