New to SJ, what do people my age (20-30) do for fun and to meet and make friends

I’m 23M and just moved in for work, and I’m trying to figure out what people do for fun! I’ve checked our Rockwood park, and plan on checking out Heroes Beacon game nights, but other than that, what are people doing?
I like to read, I’m into board games and video games, taking walks, watching movies, and trying new things like food and walks!

Grand Bay-Westfield/Public Landing area?

Ok not in St John but north/north east of the city. Looking at a possibly buying a place in this area and wondering if anyone can shed light on living there? How is your commute into the city? What services do you have/not have? How are your winters there? Basically a ton of questions so any insight is appreciated! 😅🙏

2027 Shape Your Budget survey is open

The City's annual budget survey is up on Shape Your City Saint John. It takes about five minutes to fill out, and Council reviews it when they put together the 2027 budget.

It asks where you want more spending and where you want less (roads, transit, plowing, police, fire, parks, arts, climate, etc.), what should happen if revenue comes in above or below what they expected, and how you'd rate the value you get for your tax dollars. There's a comment box at the end too.

https://shapeyourcitysaintjohn.ca/shape-your-budget

The survey is usually available for a month or so. The results get published in the fall.

Hardly anyone fills these out, so it goes further than you'd think.

Rogers TV (Saint John) Knights of Columbus Bingo. A way to watch online?

I've been trying to convince my Mom to cut cable in order to save a lot of money. Everything she watches can be found on Discovery+, which would be much cheaper.

The only thing that she watches that can't be found there is TV Bingo. So, that's stopping her from cutting the cable.

Is there a way to watch it online? She heard that there is, but I can't seem to find it. And she's also worried that the online stream would lag behind the TV broadcast and she'd possibly lose out winning. But I told her, if there is an online version it must work properly, otherwise they wouldn't do it, right?

Activities/Workshops for Adults in the SJ Area?

hi everyone! Are there any activities for adults in the SJ Area?? I’m struggling with social interaction/loneliness and I’d like to have something/an activity to do throughout the year to push myself out of my comfort zone and maybe meet some people with similar interests, and if not at least it will be something fun to do 😊

I’m thinking more workshop vibes for myself over sports (although not opposed to it in the future as I hopefully get more comfortable). I see the SJ art centre has 6-week workshops for artsy things - I’m thinking of signing up for the 6-week ceramics course.

What else is out there for adults? Ideally something that runs a few weeks/months at a time. Anyone know of anything else?

Are there any affordable, short-term places for rent?

I'll be in the city looking for an apartment next week which can take a while, especially when certain property mgmt companies seem to have little interest in showing you places or returning calls/emails. Maybe I'm not contacting the right ones.

I'd rather not pay 3k/month for an airbnb. Are there any safe and reputable companies that rent at reasonable prices for short-term (a few weeks to a month)?

Meditation group?

I think I saw a post a few days ago about a meditation group in Saint John. I can't find the post now but would be interested in learning more if anyone has info.

I meditate regularly and have led a few nature-based meditation events in the past. Cheers.
