Does anyone else also thinks that the surplice colors look better in the cloth myths than in the anime? I think that the black fits better with the mkre vibrant purple than this more tone down purple from the anime

I'm not trying to impress anyone except my younger shelf haha. Isn't a complete Collection or anything, I just love Saint Seiya, model kits, and winning eleven since I was child, but i didn't have money back then 😅.
Still mising the artbooks, a couple of CD's, and plan to Buy the last blokees figures this weekend. The only bootleg things I own is the Albiore myth cloth ex (and the sacred saga artbook), since Bandai hasn't bothered to release him in 20 years. he's been My favourite character since I was on the Spanish Saint Seiya role playing forums in 2004 ☝️🤓
I had another thought about the similarities between SS and JJK, am I schizo or a modern genius?
I can't find English scans for that page anymore, if anyone can link me to English version I would appreciate it.
I don't speak Spanish either but I have seen that page in English several times , Sisyphus asked "You would let innocents die?!" and Aspros answered "I have great goal to be a Gold Saint! I can't fumble it here!"(as he mentioned he will be a gold saint to protect Defteros, and Defteros only)
I remember some other points like when Aspros explicitly say " I will be a Gold Saint for YOU, defteros" or Defteros's monologue during the coup night was "Brother , you are my world" or before Sasha met him, Aspros was monologuing " I have no regrets with how I lived... Except... " and previously he was so mad that he was unable to fulfill his promise to Defteros.
Anyway, point was, at several points of both gaidens and main Lost Canvas, the Gemini twins repeatedly pointed out how they don't give a fuck about the world. Even Asmita still cares more than them , they deliberately leaves no room for anyone or anything in both their heart and brain, not allowing anyone to enter, only each other matters. If they do give smallest damn to other, odds are good it's because they are projecting the other twin or see a certain aspect of the other twin in other people anyway. so yes we go back to the brocon.
Defteros is more likely to help you if you tripped on the road in his vicinity but he wouldn't actively go out his way to save people even if he can teleport with Another Dimension, something that's not in front of your very eyes is easier to ignore. Aspros is even more likely to ignore the accidents . He may help if Defteros asked, but because Defteros asked and not because it's a moral thing to do.
As how they get away with it, Aspros may have to make up with showing the Sanctuary how competent he is, so he can reject missions he doesn't want, when Defteros literally is a hikikomori who stayed in a volcano. And if you do reach him anyway, he can erase memories. They really dgaf.
Years ago I noticed some studios started to make statues of Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, a friend used to keep me updated, but now I've lost track of the series and I wonder if anyone by chance knows if they are still going on with the project or if it has all fallen through.
The last update by Star Model Studios dates back to more of 6 years ago, I was really looking for the Gemini clash, but at this point I think it will remain just a dream.
TPA Studio instead proposed several characters of the series, still the last one I kept track of was Regulus in the last image, and if I'm not wrong this also dates back to 2022 or 2023, then I couldn't find other figures made by them, wondering if they are still working on this line or they too had abandoned the project.
I also don't know if other unknown studios have released something about TLC, so if anyone is more up to date, let me know.
After my post yesterday, wanted to recapitulate a bit publishing situation of Saint Seiya mangas in Spain, in case it could be of interest for somebody (maybe not 😝), or for somebody to correct me if I'm wrong in anything:
Saint Seiya (original manga): Tankobon edition published in the 2000's by Glenat. Kanzenban edition published in the 2010's by Planeta. Final edition currently being published (7 volumes by the moment), again by Planeta. The last two versions are easy to find.
Saint Seiya Next Dimension: Fully published by IVREA, easy to find.
Episode G: As I explained yesterday, started being published by Glenat in 2005 (18 volumes), which then sold its Spanish branch to EDT, who published the volume 19 in 2012, and dissapeared leaving the manga unfinished. In 2015 IVREA published only the volume 20 in 2015 in the same format. Except this last one, totally out of stock. The prequel volume 0 was never published in Spain (just in Mexico, as far as I know).
Episode G Assassin: Hurtful case. IVREA began publishing it in 2015, more or less regularly until the 5th volume in 2018... and then nothing. On their webpage is listed since then as "ongoing", but they also mentioned in some tweets that there were some issues to renew the publishing rights. My bet: it didn't sell enough and they are just letting it die...
The Lost Canvas: Fully published by Glenat in 2008-13. Glenat dissapears, goes totally out of stock and impossible to find... Until IVREA began publishing a new edition last year where each volume will cover two of the original run. Publishing volume 7 (so, 13-14 of the original ones) next month.
Saintia Sho: Fully published by IVREA, easy to find.
Time Odyssey: Being published by Moztroz, all 4 volumes are available.
Rerise of Poseidon: IVREA announced recently got the rights to publish it in Argentina, so people immediatly began to ask if it would be also the case in Spain. They answered on Twitter saying that somebody else had bought it. No announcements yet, but should come more or less soon.
The rest haven't been published yet in Spain: Episode G Requiem (if Assassin has not been finished, not expecting this to come), The Lost Canvas Gaidens (these came out in Mexico, I think; I would bet that if the current rerun works well, we might get them), Dark Wing or Saint Mariya. Also no news for the extra stories of The Lost Canvas or Saintia Sho.
Actual Aspros skin from Awakening. And yes, in the skin's trailer, he does throw the cup which is why that's the post's title.
he looks so good with dark aristrocrat design 🤤waist 🤤meanwhile his twin is shirtless 😂
So, trying to complete the Spanish edition from the original Episode G manga, which has been out of stock for ages (indeed, the original publisher, Glenat, sold its Spanish branch after publishing volume 18, which was rebrandish as EDT, who published volume 19 and then disappeared, leaving the collection unfinished and missing just the final volume; time after IVREA, who now publishes all Saint Seiya on Spain but the original manga, published it maintaining the same format).
Buying it from there and there, as they are difficult or really expensive to obtain. Last acquisition were volumes 14 and 15 which I bought at a really nice price from Mexican bookshop: £30 both of them, post included to London (where I live, which makes things even more complicated). Now just missing three volumes: 16, 17 and 19.
Also showing the full collection, which is most of what is published in Spain (apart from the kanzenban edition of the original manga, the original run of Lost Canvas which is totally out of stock, and Saintia Sho).
Finally managed to get my Hands on this Beauty here! ^-^

hi, I wanted to know where I can get good Saint Seiya (1986) english subs, because the ones I found online suck. So where can I get the best english subs for the original series because right now it's unwatchable. I also would prefer if they keep the japanese attack names.

Phase 02 - The Pegasus Constellation
Saori remembers Seiya, who came to return her hat, and calls his name.
However, her memory fades again and she can't remember her own name.
Seiya and Shun (who suddenly appears) watch Saori walk away.
At that moment, a large number of zombie-like thieves appear, but they are easily defeated by Seiya.
According to Shun, since the goddess who protects love and justice on Earth has disappeared, public safety is worsening throughout the world.
There are even rumors that if this continues, everyone will eventually turn evil.
In Purgatory, Jean revives Skeletons one after another and orders them to kill Saori before she awakens as Athena.
Upon returning to his home in Rodorio Village, Seiya, while eating the stew made by Seika, recounts the story of the "young woman who, even with amnesia, knew his name."
Realizing it's Saori, Seika hopes Seiya won't be dragged back into the battles.
As the skeletons begin searching the village, Saori observes the Pegasus constellation.
Does anyone think we'll get the origin story of Pegasus in this new saga? Especially the reason why he always revives alongside Athena.
Aldebaran sweeps... this aborted show is a goldmine lol
(I made this assessment only for the anime TV show and from a cultural standpoint that helped me understand a question I’ve had for years.)
For the first time, I watched the pilot created for the American version of Saint Seiya, and if you’re from the U.S., you can immediately understand why this “silly” version actually makes so much sense as a proper reimagining of the show for the era when cartoons were peaking in America.
The U.S. characters have distinct personalities, the voice acting is strong, the pacing is phenomenal, and the story is simple enough for parents to comfortably let children get into it. Most importantly, the characters are very clearly instructed to work together as a TEAM, which is fundamental in American storytelling if you want a show to succeed with mainstream audiences. Even the ancient mythology elements are simplified enough to keep the plot light, grounded, and aligned with massive American cartoon hits of the time like X-Men: The Animated Series and Spider-Man.
Saint Seiya is simply far more intellectual, symbolic, and slow-paced than what American audiences traditionally expected from after-school action cartoons, and I’ve always wondered if that was part of the reason why it never truly took off in the U.S., along with the notoriously rough English dubbing and awkward voice acting.
Watching this pilot finally made it click for me: the original series lacks clear narrative guidance for American viewers. There’s also very little comedy compared to successful U.S. cartoons of the era, and comedy was almost essential for mainstream American animation at the time. On top of that, the Japanese script is so rooted in its own tone, mythology, and dramatic structure that there’s only so much you can adapt before the story starts feeling inaccessible or tonally strange to American audiences.
I was honestly flabbergasted by the decision to turn the Pope into Apollo, Athena’s brother. The moment that happened, the entire adaptation immediately sold itself to me because it actually clarified a plot point that feels incredibly vague and messy in the original series. It simplified the mythology without completely betraying the spirit of the story, which is probably exactly what an American adaptation needed in order to work commercially.
Unlike Sailor Moon, where the comedy is genuinely gold, the story follows a more day-to-day structure, and the characters and voice acting naturally connect with audiences, Saint Seiya never fully managed to translate those elements into American culture in a way that felt accessible to mainstream viewers. And lastly, I’m actually glad they ultimately kept the same voice actress used in this plot for Saori/Athena in the English dub of Saint Seiya, because that explains so much. Her character was always the only one that flowed naturally in the English dub and there’s a reason she was always my favorite.
After years of wondering why one of the biggest anime phenomena in Asia, Latin America and Europe, never fully connected with U.S. audiences, now suddenly everything has clicked.
