Activities in the SFV

What’s good everyone,

Trying to get out more and experience new things around the SFV/LA area. I just came back from a salsa class in NoHo and honestly had a really good time. It made me realize I need to start doing more activities where I can learn new things, meet people, and just explore different experiences.

I’m down for literally anything interesting; hiking groups, random classes, martial arts, dance, cooking, photography, run clubs, car meets, music-related stuff, outdoor activities, creative workshops, sports leagues, volunteering, hidden gems, whatever. Even stuff that sounds completely out of my comfort zone.

If you know any cool clubs, communities, events, or unique experiences around the San Fernando Valley or LA in general, drop them below. Especially things that are beginner friendly and good for someone trying to get out more and explore life and connect with people.

what cities in CA that are at least 100 miles apart resemble one another?

I can think of 3 pairs

  1. Fremont and Rancho Cucamonga- both up scale superb with lots of ethnic diversity and Indian groceries.
  2. Indio and San Fernando - both have old time downtowns and are largely Mexican American
  3. Healdsburg and Paso Robles - both bougie wine towns.

Comments? Any other pairs?

AMA Announcement: Friday, May 15, 9 AM: Marissa Roy for LA City Attorney!

Hi AskLA!

The campaign team for Marissa Roy has been in touch about arranging an Ask Me Anything (AMA) thread in the r/AskLosAngeles subreddit. The candidate is running for LA City Attorney in the June 2 Primary election.

The AMA will be happening live this Friday, May 15 at 9 AM. The question thread will be made that morning so hold your questions please until then.

An announcement was also made to her Instagram page (and to IG Stories) so this is a mod-vetted r/AskLosAngeles AMA. This particular post here is just an announcement / warm up ahead of time.

As mentioned in candidate Nithya Raman's AMA last week, we'll also welcome further Ask Me Anything posts if there's interest from any other campaign related to the wider city or county or the megaregion that calls itself LA. Just reach out to coordinate.

My family owns Baskin Robbins in Reseda

Happy Mothers Day everyone!

A bit of history on the Baskin Robbins off Saticoy/Reseda right next to the Dennys. It’s been around since 1980. My family took over back in the early 2000’s.

A common misconception people have about franchises is it’s all corporate owned. My parents have been franchisees for over 20 years and are small business owners. They have came to this country and worked every single day. Anyone who visits the store probably has seen my parents as they haven’t missed a single day of work in over 20 years.

If you are looking for an ice cream cake to celebrate Mothers Day with your family, please keep us in mind!

The location:
7628 Reseda Blvd Reseda CA 91335
Just give us a call if your looking for any custom cake.

Happy Mothers Day to you and your families!

best dentist in Tarzana or nearby who is actually good with anxious patients?

my wife has really bad dental anxiety, to the point where she hasn't had a proper cleaning in about three years. every time she makes an appointment she cancels it. she's not willing to do full sedation but needs something in between. does anyone know a dentist in the Tarzana / Northridge / Encino area with a real reputation for anxious patients, not just checking a box on their website? i came across Dr. Nargiz Zadeh DMD on Ventura Blvd in Tarzana and her reviews specifically mention patients with severe anxiety saying she was the first dentist they didn't feel judged by. wondering if anyone has first hand experience there or other options i should look at

To whoever has been setting off fireworks the last couple nights

Go fuck yourself. Some of us live with individuals with PTSD who can’t possibly prepare themselves for fireworks going off on random fucking days in May for no goddamn reason. What the actual FUCK is wrong with you? Set them off on the 4th or whatever but to have them go off at all hours of the fucking night is so fucking beyond me I can’t even imagine how selfish you have to be to think it’s okay.

Fuck you I hope you get skunked while you’re out there.

Dog training recommendations

Does anyone know of a good dog trainer you would recommend? Near the Van Nuys area.
Doesn’t necessarily have to be a private, group courses would be nice my dog is socially awkward. Reasonable in price.
