Are you able to take BART to Millbrae from downtown SF on weekdays between 5 - 6 PM?

My brother recently started a new position in downtown San Francisco and claims that there are no BART trains that run to Millbrae between 5 - 6 PM. According to BART's schedule, there are 3 leaving from Powell station: around 5:09, 5:29, and 5:49 PM.

We've lived in the area for years and have taken BART regularly in the past from this station to Millbrae. So I'm surprised that he doesn't see any going to Millbrae. He does see the ones going to SFO.

I'm wondering if the signage or similar in the station or on the trains has changed and so he is missing the appropriate BART during this time. I do know that there have been changes off/ on for this line the last few years. Additionally, is there anything specific going on this week that would account for this? I don't see any alerts on BART's website for this line except for delays after 9 PM from Sun - Thursday.

TIA!

Best places for laptop work?

I wfh and have flexibility so I often go out to a cafe to work from there so that I’m not just holed up at home all day. I have my regular places but have been curious to try new ones and wanted to see what other people have found.

My usuals:

- Philz downtown: Reliable internet, can usually find seating. Have to pay for parking unless you park a couple blocks away in the neighborhood.

- Blue bottle downtown: Used to go here but stopped a while back because internet was unreliable. Seats less comfortable and less conducive to long term sessions. It’s brother which is nice but actually makes it a bit harder for screen work compared to Philz.

- Foreigner: Tried it once. Nice to get lunch. They also do cafe. Nice charming atmosphere. Never been here in the morning. Always find it a bit unsure to just get coffee and setup shop at a food restaurant.

- Library: Free parking, lots of seats, internet works. A little too quiet for me. I like a little hustle and bustle.

- Blue Bottle Delaware: Small, can be difficult to find seating. Convenient if you live nearby I suppose.

- Philz hillsdale: Only been once. Seems ok and gets the mall crowd.

- Hillsdale mall food court: Got lunch and tried to work. Internet seemed unreliable.

Ive been curious about the other cafes in San Mateo downtown.

REP. KEVIN MULLIN (D-CA-15) — DONOR NETWORK EPSTEIN TIES, VOTING RECORD, AND PUBLIC SILENCE

This post is about one congressman: Rep. Kevin Mullin, Democrat, California’s 15th Congressional District, San Mateo County. It documents three things using public records, FEC filings, DOJ-released EFTA documents, Senate Finance Committee investigation letters, federal court filings, and congressional vote records: (1) the Epstein-connected individuals in the donor network that financed his elections, (2) his voting record on Israel military aid and related legislation, and (3) his public silence on the documented Epstein ties of his donors while his colleagues across the aisle have spoken extensively on the record. All claims are sourced. Victim allegations from the EFTA files are identified as allegations. Financial records, government investigation findings, and court filings are identified as such.
SECTION 1: HOW MULLIN WAS FINANCED
According to Track AIPAC, which sources its data from FEC.gov filings, pro-Israel PACs and associated independent expenditure groups spent $732,366 on Mullin’s elections as of April 23, 2026. This breaks down as $128,685 in direct PAC contributions and $603,681 in independent expenditures. The primary vehicle was United Democracy Project (UDP), AIPAC’s super PAC, which spent $588,767 in independent expenditures supporting Mullin’s 2022 general election. AIPAC PAC made a direct contribution of $7,900. AIPAC’s own spokesperson stated publicly: “We were proud to endorse and back Kevin Mullin because of his demonstrated support for the U.S.-Israel relationship.” [J. Weekly, November 19, 2022] Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI) also endorsed Mullin in March 2022 and made independent expenditures on his behalf. [Jewish Insider, October 12, 2022]
The FEC-disclosed individual donors who funded UDP across the 2022 and 2024 cycles include: AIPAC’s institutional treasury ($8.5 million, 2022 cycle), Jan Koum — WhatsApp co-founder, resident of San Mateo County in Mullin’s district — ($2 million in 2022, $5 million in 2024, total $7 million), Paul Singer of Elliott Management ($1 million, 2022 cycle), Bernard Marcus of Home Depot ($1 million in 2022, approximately $3 million in 2024), Haim Saban ($1 million, 2022 cycle), Jonathon Jacobson of HighSage Ventures ($1 million in 2022, approximately $4.6 million in 2024), David Zalik of GreenSky (approximately $2 million, 2024 cycle), and Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management ($250,000 to AIPAC-affiliated groups, 2024 cycle). [OpenSecrets, November 17, 2022; Times of Israel, July 23, 2022; FactCheck.org, September 2024; LittleSis.org; Truthout, September 2024]
SECTION 2: WHAT THE EPSTEIN FILES SHOW ABOUT MULLIN’S DONORS
Three donors in Mullin’s funding network have documented connections to the Epstein files. The documentation ranges from financial records and congressional investigation findings to direct victim allegations. Each is presented separately.
Marc Rowan — CEO of Apollo Global Management, $250,000 to AIPAC-affiliated groups
Marc Rowan appears by name in multiple DOJ-released EFTA documents confirming direct personal contact with Epstein after Epstein’s 2008 sex-offender conviction. Document EFTA01961770 contains Rowan’s own email to Epstein’s assistant listing his personal in-person availability for meetings: “If Jeff wants to meet in person, I am in NYC Aug 21(10-12), Sept 3 (1030-2), Sept 10 (9-4), Sept 11 (2-5).” Document EFTA01755467 contains scheduling correspondence from Rowan’s executive assistant, identified as working for “Marc Rowan, Apollo Management, L.P., 9 West 57th Street,” confirming a meeting with Epstein. Document EFTA02130554 shows a meeting rescheduled for Sunday September 8, 2013 at 8am at Epstein’s home at 9 East 71st Street. Documents EFTA02130796 and EFTA02130782 contain correspondence providing Rowan’s personal cell phone number to Epstein’s team for that meeting. The DOJ files show Rowan had at least five scheduled meetings with Epstein, that an Apollo president made a 2013 request for Epstein to meet Apollo’s full executive committee, and that Rowan forwarded internal Apollo financial data including a tax receivable agreement calculation directly to Epstein in March 2016. [Bloomberg, January 30, 2026; Daily Pennsylvanian, February 2, 2026; Axios, February 17, 2026; CNN Business, February 21, 2026] Apollo issued a client letter on February 18, 2026 stating “neither Marc Rowan nor anyone else at Apollo (excluding Leon Black) had either a business or personal relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.” On April 29, 2026, a federal securities class action was filed in the Southern District of New York — Perez v. Apollo Global Management, Inc., et al., No. 1:26-cv-03550 — alleging that Apollo’s repeated public denials of an Epstein business relationship were materially false and incorporated into SEC filings carrying Sarbanes-Oxley certifications signed by Rowan. [InvestmentNews, April 29, 2026]
Leon Black — Apollo co-founder, predecessor to Rowan as CEO, donor to the Apollo/AIPAC donor ecosystem
Leon Black co-founded Apollo with Rowan. The Senate Finance Committee has conducted a four-year investigation into Black’s financial relationship with Epstein, led by Sen. Ron Wyden. The investigation found Black paid Epstein $170 million — $12 million more than Apollo’s own internal Dechert investigation disclosed, with no explanation provided for the discrepancy. Approximately $100 million was paid with no written contract or services agreement. A $10 million payment was routed through a 501(c)(3) charitable organization to avoid public disclosure, per internal emails from Epstein’s lawyer Richard Kahn. [Senate Finance Committee, July 25, 2023; March 23, 2026] The USVI settlement — in which Black paid $62.5 million for immunity from criminal prosecution in the U.S. Virgin Islands — states directly: “Jeffrey Epstein used the money Black paid him to partially fund his operations in the Virgin Islands.” [USVI settlement, released by Wyden March 12, 2025] Wyden wrote to Black on March 23, 2026: “You were among Jeffrey Epstein’s primary sources of income, flooding him with cash at a time when he was already a registered sex offender.” EFTA document EFTA01368849 contains a Deutsche Bank internal document identifying “Elysium is Leon Black” — Elysium Management LLC being one of Black’s entities. EFTA00583120 and EFTA00594105 show Epstein personally guaranteed BV70 LLC loans of $22.5 million and $8 million, with BV70 being Black’s yacht entity. A $22.5 million wire was documented flowing from BV70 LLC to Epstein’s aircraft entity. EFTA00002012 documents a Bank of America account for Leon D. Black and Debra Black with Epstein’s assistant Melanie Spinella holding power of attorney. EFTA01927822 documents Epstein and Joi Ito discussing a “slush fund” with the question “Will it be coming from Leon Black? How much?” and EFTA02584438 shows Ito confirming “$500K came into my slush fund account. Thanks! Should I thank Leon Black?” regarding MIT Media Lab donations. The EFTA corpus documents over 30 calendar entries showing Black-Epstein meetings spanning 2013 to 2016, with 178 total documented meetings and phone calls. Black’s financial papers were physically found in a room on Epstein’s Little St. James Island during the August 2019 FBI raid per the raid photo log. Regarding victim allegations — these are allegations, not adjudicated findings, and no criminal charges have been filed against Black: EFTA02731427 contains a transcribed entry from a coded victim diary describing a visit to Epstein’s 71st Street townhouse in which the author states she was physically assaulted by Black. Two additional independent victim accounts describe the same specific pattern of conduct. The victims have no documented connection to each other. Attorney Jeanne Christensen told SDNY prosecutors the conduct was “too abnormal to make up” and stated “there is nothing publicly out there about the details of his specific sex acts with our client, so there is no way she could know.” A 2023 victim statement in the EFTA files is addressed directly to Black and states: “Leon. You sexually harassed me, sex trafficked me, raped me, and eventually blacklisted me.” [EFTA02731630-02731783 series] EFTA documents EFTA02731636 and EFTA02731689 contain SDNY internal files in which the investigation is titled “Leon Black/Additional HT Subject Referral” — HT denoting Human Trafficking. A June 2023 SDNY internal email documents coordination with DANY, noting DANY’s interest in passing the case because trafficking of a minor occurred in New York on at least two occasions. SDNY’s documented internal response: “we are not likely to open another investigation.” No charges have been filed. [Just Security, EFTA timeline; Business Insider, February 10, 2026]
Paul Singer — Elliott Management, $1 million to UDP in 2022
Paul Singer contributed $1 million to UDP in the 2022 election cycle, the same cycle UDP spent $588,767 electing Mullin. Singer also contributed $1 million to MAGA KY, the super PAC that ran ads targeting Rep. Thomas Massie’s reelection during the period Massie was forcing a House vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act. [FEC filings; The Hill, January 31, 2026] Massie stated publicly: “Within hours of the Epstein file release, a superPAC funded by Israel-first billionaires Miriam Adelson, Paul Singer, and John Paulson, who himself appears in Epstein’s black book, bought another $800,000 of TV ads against me.” [The Hill, January 31, 2026] Regarding Singer’s own Epstein connection: EFTA document EFTA01904108 contains an email from Epstein’s associate Cecile de Jongh asking Epstein whether he knows “Paul Singer of Elliott Management.” Epstein replied “no.” No financial relationship or personal contact between Singer and Epstein has been documented in the released EFTA files.
Section 2 Additional: Palantir, Peter Thiel, Epstein’s Money
This is included because it documents how Epstein’s money flows into the same pro-Israel tech-defense infrastructure that Mullin’s donor network supports ideologically and financially. Peter Thiel co-founded Palantir Technologies. House Oversight Committee documents released in 2026 confirmed Epstein invested $40 million into two funds managed by Valar Ventures, a firm co-founded by Thiel, in 2015 and 2016. That investment grew to approximately $170 million and is currently the largest single remaining asset in Epstein’s estate. [New York Times; Wikipedia/Peter Thiel, citing House Oversight 2026; Byline Times, February 4-19, 2026] A DOJ EFTA-released email from former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to investor Nicole Junckermann describes a Valar Ventures meeting as involving a fund “owned by Peter Thiel and JE [Jeffrey Epstein].” Thiel’s spokesman confirmed Epstein was a limited partner but denied co-ownership. [Byline Times, February 19, 2026] Palantir signed a strategic partnership with Israel’s Ministry of Defense in January 2024 described as supporting “war-related missions.” Investigative reporting by +972 Magazine and Local Call documented the Israeli AI targeting system Lavender, which IDF sources said listed over 37,000 Palestinians for targeting in the first months of the conflict. When asked about this at Cambridge University in May 2024, Thiel stated: “My bias is to defer to Israel. It’s not for us to second-guess everything.” [Responsible Statecraft, July 25, 2024; +972 Magazine; Democracy Now!, April 5, 2024] Track AIPAC separately documents that Thiel spent $15 million funding JD Vance’s 2022 Senate campaign and that Vance received over $167,000 in Israel lobby contributions. [Track AIPAC, trackaipac.com/trump]
SECTION 3: WHAT MULLIN VOTED FOR
The following votes are verified through House Clerk records and the AJP Action congressional Palestine scorecard (ajpaction.org/democratic-scorecard/kevin-mullin), which grades Mullin F with a 27% total score. Yea: H.Res.771 standing with Israel (October 25, 2023). H.R.340 Hamas International Financing Prevention Act (November 1, 2023). H.Res.798 condemning Hamas support at universities (November 2, 2023). LHHS Amendment banning funds to colleges under IHRA antisemitism definition (November 15, 2023). H.Res.793 calling on Hamas to release hostages (November 28, 2023). Resolution affirming Israel’s right to exist (November 28, 2023). Spending bill cutting UNRWA funding (March 22, 2024). H.Res.883 declaring “from the river to the sea” antisemitic (April 16, 2024). H.Res.1143 condemning Iran’s missile attack on Israel (April 17, 2024). H.R.8034 Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act providing approximately $17 billion in military assistance to Israel (April 20, 2024). Discharge petition for the $95 billion Israel/Ukraine/Taiwan foreign aid package (March 2024). Non-signatory: Bilateral Ceasefire Letter (November 17, 2023). Letter urging Biden to shift military strategy to reduce civilian casualties (January 26, 2024). World Central Kitchen accountability letter (April 16, 2024). Biden Administration Weapon Transfer Compliance Letter (October 16, 2023).
SECTION 4: MULLIN’S PUBLIC RECORD ON EPSTEIN
Mullin voted Yea on the Epstein Files Transparency Act on November 18, 2025 (House vote 427-1). That is his only documented public position on Epstein. His official House website, kevinmullin.house.gov, contains no statements addressing the following: the EFTA-documented meetings between Marc Rowan and Epstein, the Senate Finance Committee’s four-year investigation into Leon Black as Epstein’s primary financier, the USVI finding that Black’s money funded Epstein’s trafficking operations, the SDNY human trafficking referral opened on Black that resulted in no charges, the federal securities class action against Apollo and Rowan filed April 2026, or Paul Singer’s documented role in funding the anti-Massie PAC during the Epstein transparency fight. For comparison, the following colleagues have spoken publicly on Epstein-related accountability matters: Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA-17), who co-sponsored the Epstein Files Transparency Act with Massie and appeared on Democracy Now! to discuss financial suppression of the files. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who filed the discharge petition, named donors by name in public statements, and called for accountability across party lines. Both Khanna and Massie represent districts in the same general region or national conversation. Khanna represents the district immediately adjacent to Mullin’s in Silicon Valley. Mullin has said nothing.

The Same Billionaire Who Bought Kevin Mullin's of district CA-15 Silence Is Spending $30 Million Today to Silence Thomas Massie the Congressman Asking Epstein Questions

I'm a constituent of CA-15. I have called his office. I have emailed. I have asked him to make a statement about the bombing of Lebanese civilian infrastructure. I have asked him to address the documented killing of civilians in Gaza. I have asked him to acknowledge that the donors who financed his 2022 election are now subjects of a Senate Finance Committee investigation and a federal securities class action. Palestinian community members in San Mateo County asked to meet with him. He declined.

Here is what the public record actually shows about who Kevin Mullin works for. Every number below is verifiable at FEC.gov.

The PACs that financed his election:

United Democracy Project (FEC ID: C00744946) — AIPAC's super PAC — spent $588,767 in independent expenditures supporting Mullin's 2022 general election. AIPAC PAC (FEC ID: C00052787) made a direct contribution of $7,900. Democratic Majority for Israel PAC (DMFI PAC, FEC ID: C00747618) endorsed Mullin in March 2022 and made independent expenditures on his behalf. AIPAC's own spokesperson confirmed the relationship publicly, stating the organization was "proud to endorse and back Kevin Mullin because of his demonstrated support for the U.S.-Israel relationship." That quote is from the Jewish Weekly, November 19, 2022. You can look it up.

The individual donors who funded United Democracy Project in the 2022 cycle — all disclosed in FEC filings — include Paul Singer of Elliott Management ($1 million), Bernard Marcus of Home Depot ($1 million), Haim Saban ($1 million), Jan Koum of WhatsApp ($2 million), and Jonathon Jacobson of HighSage Ventures ($1 million). In the 2024 cycle, Marc Rowan of Apollo Global Management contributed $250,000 to AIPAC-affiliated groups including UDP.

Total documented pro-Israel PAC and independent expenditure support for Mullin across both cycles: $732,366. Source: TrackAIPAC, which pulls directly from FEC.gov filings.

Two of those donors are now subjects of serious federal scrutiny.

Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management, contributed $250,000 to AIPAC-affiliated groups including United Democracy Project. DOJ-released EFTA documents — searchable at justice.gov/epstein — show Rowan had at least five scheduled in-person meetings with Jeffrey Epstein after Epstein's 2008 sex offender conviction. EFTA document EFTA01961770 is Rowan's own email listing his personal availability for Epstein meetings. EFTA02130554 confirms a meeting at Epstein's Manhattan townhouse in September 2013 — five years after Epstein was a convicted sex offender. Apollo publicly denied any Epstein business relationship in a client letter dated February 18, 2026. That denial is now the basis of a federal securities class action: Perez v. Apollo Global Management, Inc., et al., No. 1:26-cv-03550, filed in the Southern District of New York on April 29, 2026, alleging those denials were materially false statements in SEC filings that Rowan personally certified under Sarbanes-Oxley. Kevin Mullin has issued no public statement about any of this.

Paul Singer of Elliott Management gave $1 million to United Democracy Project (FEC C00744946) in the 2022 cycle — the same cycle that PAC spent $588,767 electing Mullin. Singer simultaneously gave $1 million to MAGA KY PAC (FEC C00878708), the super PAC that spent nearly $12 million trying to remove Rep. Thomas Massie — the Kentucky congressman who forced congressional votes on the Epstein Files Transparency Act and who named these donors by name in public statements. Rep. Massie stated publicly: "Within hours of the Epstein file release, a super PAC funded by Israel-first billionaires Miriam Adelson, Paul Singer, and John Paulson — who himself appears in Epstein's black book — bought another $800,000 of TV ads against me." That quote is from The Hill, January 31, 2026. Same donor. One PAC elects Mullin. One PAC targets the congressman asking accountability questions. Kevin Mullin has said nothing.

The committee conflict no one is talking about:

Mullin sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, including its Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee — the subcommittee with direct jurisdiction over pharmaceutical industry conduct. According to FEC filings, he accepted $5,000 from Gilead Sciences Healthcare Policy PAC in March 2025. One month later, on April 29, 2025, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York announced a $202 million civil fraud settlement with Gilead Sciences, finding that from 2011 to 2017 the company paid 548 healthcare providers more than $23.7 million in illegal kickbacks — honoraria, meals, and travel to luxury destinations — to induce them to prescribe Gilead's HIV drugs, resulting in false claims submitted to Medicare and Medicaid. A coalition of 49 attorneys general participated in the settlement. Source: HHS Office of Inspector General announcement, April 30, 2025. Between 140,000 and 170,000 people in CA-15 are enrolled in Medi-Cal. They are the people whose healthcare program Gilead defrauded. Their congressman accepted Gilead's PAC money one month before the settlement was announced and has made no public statement about it.

He also accepted $5,000 from Blue Shield of California PAC and $4,711 from PG&E Corporation Employees EnergyPAC in the current cycle, per FEC filings. San Mateo County has some of the highest healthcare premiums and utility rates in California.

The voting record:

AJP Action grades Mullin F with a 27% score based on verified House Clerk records. He voted yes on H.R.8034, the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act providing approximately $17 billion in military assistance to Israel (April 20, 2024). He voted to cut UNRWA funding (March 22, 2024). He voted yes on H.Res.883 declaring the phrase "from the river to the sea" antisemitic (April 16, 2024). He declined to sign the Bilateral Ceasefire Letter (November 17, 2023), the letter urging a shift in military strategy to reduce civilian casualties (January 26, 2024), the World Central Kitchen accountability letter (April 16, 2024), and the Biden Administration Weapon Transfer Compliance Letter (October 16, 2023) — letters that dozens of his Democratic colleagues signed.

The attendance:

According to GovTrack, Mullin has missed 116 of 1,758 roll call votes from January 2023 through April 2026 — a miss rate of 6.6%, more than three times worse than the congressional median of 2.1%.

The silence:

His neighbor Rep. Ro Khanna, representing CA-17 directly next door, co-sponsored the Epstein Files Transparency Act with Rep. Thomas Massie and appeared on Democracy Now! to discuss financial suppression of the files. Kevin Mullin voted yes on the Epstein Files Transparency Act when 426 other members did the same. He has issued zero public statements about Marc Rowan's documented EFTA appearances, the Senate Finance Committee's investigation of Leon Black as Epstein's primary financier, the USVI settlement finding that Black's money funded Epstein's trafficking operations, the federal securities class action against Apollo, or Paul Singer's dual PAC spending. I contacted his office asking him to address these connections. No response.

I am endorsing Anthony Dang for the June 2 primary.

He is a disabled Marine combat veteran. His brother Andrew was killed in Ramadi, Iraq in 2004. He enlisted the day after. He deployed, was shot in the back, survived two IED blasts, and came home. He went to community college, then UC San Diego, then Harvard, where he earned a Master's in Public Administration. He worked at the Pentagon, witnessed waste and fraud on taxpayer-funded defense programs, reported it, and was fired for it. He is raising a son with special needs. He takes zero corporate PAC money — zero contributions from United Democracy Project, zero from Gilead Sciences PAC, zero from Blue Shield PAC, zero from PG&E EnergyPAC, zero from the donor infrastructure described above. He will respond to constituents. He will show up.

The primary is June 2. This is a top-two primary — every vote counts. CA-15 deserves a representative who works for the people who live here.

Annoying punks and their dysfunctional behavior

Between 12:20 am until after 1 am this morning maybe 100+ cars came roaring down Polhemus and descended onto a normally peaceful neighborhood. Peeling out and revving their high powered engines with the sole purpose of waking the dead.

The cops were powerless. They sat by idly as the immature brats had their way. Obviously the hoard needed the attention that they never got as children or were compensating for diminished shortcomings.

Look, I don't care if they stick to the freeways or cities but cruising through quiet neighborhoods in the middle of the night? I hope their parents paddle their hind quarters and send them to their room for a long term grounding when they get home.

Chinese Dim Sum Take out

Where can I get Chinese dim sum takeout in the peninsula, similar to the many spots in S.F., where you line up and tell the ladies what you want over a glass wall? I’m talking about Bbq pork buns, pineapple buns, cocktail buns, or even har gows, turnip cakes, sesame balls, sticky rice in lotus leaves, etc. Am I relegated to only going to 99 ranch or Sheng Kee?

Cars broken into in Foster City

Just got done filing a police report as my wife’s car was broken into last night on Balboa off Catamaran street in Foster City.

Our garage door opener was stolen and our garage and vehicle trashed. My 7 year olds bicycle was stolen and he’s taking it pretty hard tonight 😤

Luckily our neighbors car was attempted and it happened to be a Tesla. The police have video footage of the 2 men and they took finger prints from our car and garage.

Just a warning to please lock your vehicles at night. I know not much happens here in the way of crime and it’s easy to forget.

Hopefully the police will catch them soon!

bay area, ca weekday hiking group for the laid-off (monday @ almaden)

more layoffs this week from LinkedIn, Amazon, Cisco...there's probably so many more but it really sucks.

if you're navigating a lay-off or are between opportunities, come clear your head and connect with folks who are in the same boat 🤝🏼

this monday, we’re heading to San Jose for a cool contrast between the city sprawl and pristine hills.

  • when: monday, may 18 @ 10:30 am
  • stats: 4.5mi loop / 728 ft gain

grab your spot and see the full details here:

https://partiful.com/e/quQbeTwLMyYtlnAhlZ9I?

hope to see y'all there!

(pic of ~60 of us from last monday's hike 🙂 - and yes, we'll be splitting into groups and staggering start times so as to not overwhelm the trail)

Excel Training Needed

Hi 👋🏼- I have basic Excel skills and want to level up to being able to do Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, data validations, invoice reconciliations, create dashboards etc. I need advanced skills for business and I’m looking for a tutor asap. I’m in San Mateo but would travel to SF or down to San Jose. Looking for in person 1:1 instruction. Open to anyone impacted by recent layoffs wanting to share their advanced Excel knowledge and interested in making some money in between jobs.

Thanks!

Local live music in San Mateo

What do we have to do to get more opportunities for local musicians around here? I believe there is a sizable-yet-hidden community of musical artists here waiting to be discovered.

The biggest hurdle they have is the lack of a venue that can host low-cost, all-ages shows. Bars obviously can't host all-ages shows and while our rec centers (Beresford and/or King) would be ideal, the fees, even at their non-profit rates, are well outside the budget of most young bands.

The result is we export most of our home-grown talent north to SF, south to San Jose, east to Oakland, or even west to Half Moon Bay. You can find a live music scene in every direction, but not here. I think that's such a waste. How can we change that?

Safe/Good places to sleep in my car?

hi, im moving to the Redwood City area soon for an internship. just wondering if there were any good places in the area to sleep overnight in my car for a couple of days without being bothered by people or police. just wanna scout out the area for potential places to live before i make a final decision on housing (Palo Alto, San Mateo, etc)

i do have experience sleeping/living in my car so that isn’t an issue.

or if someone has a place for me to park in their driveway or something lol.

i would also like to make new friends so if anyone has any idea on how to do that it would be much appreciated too 😎

thank you so much! :)

edit: also if anyone can offer any tips or suggestions on cheap places to stay at for the duration of my internship that would be really helpful too! all suggestions are welcome, so if you have an idea please tell me, im not from the area so i dont really know what’s good and what’s not 😆
