My dad gave me a 2008 Scion xB.

Hello everyone, I hope you're having a good day. I had a question. My dad recently decided to buy a 2008 Scion xB with 234,000 miles on it; I don't have the car in my possession yet. My question is: should I stick with 5W-20, or should I opt for 5W-30? The car doesn't smoke, though it did have a "check engine" light triggered by an oxygen sensor in the catalytic converters. What approach should I take? Also, I’d like to know if I can use my VIN to check if the car was part of the ZE7 service campaign, but I don't have access to the "My Toyota Owner" portal since I don't live in the United States.

I want to use 5w20 valvoline Maxlife

Could someone in the US check my 2008 Scion xB VIN on Toyota Owners for ZE7 service history?

Hi everyone,

I'm from Honduras and I recently got a 2008 Scion xB with the 2AZ-FE engine. I'm trying to find out whether my xB ever received the ZE7 oil consumption warranty repair (piston/ring replacement).

Unfortunately, I don't have access to the US Toyota Owners system from Honduras.

Would someone in the US who has a Toyota Owners account be willing to enter my VIN and check the vehicle's service history for me? I'm specifically looking for any record showing that the ZE7 repair was performed.

VIN: JTLKE50EX81026143

I would really appreciate the help. I'm just trying to determine whether the engine still has the original pistons/rings or if the ZE7 repair was already completed.

Thank you!

This is the VIN: JTLKE50EX81026143

Should i buy?

Good Morning everybody i just wanted to hear your opinions on this car to see if i should buy it. Scion Xb with 119,000 miles and a 5 speed manual. The paint is a bit faded, suspension sounds like it needs some work, automatic windows but only drivers side works, a/c feels like it can blow colder, valve cover leak, sunroof doesnt work but other than that the car runs good and goes uphill with ease, oil was clean and oil cap had no signs of oil mixing with coolant, interior was nice and car felt like it had good power. Should i buy it? What other things should i look out for? Guy originally asked $3,000 usd for it but i got him down to $2,500. Sorry for the bad quality pictures.

My MPG

'09 Manual here. Finishing up my 1,700-mile summer round-trip road trip from Raleigh to Detroit tomorrow. I just plopped in some new Denso fuel injectors while sipping a beer on my brother's front lawn. Can't wait to see if that number goes up 🤔

I'll be stopping halfway home in Charleston, WV up in the mountains tomorrow night. Will post new MPGs when I get there.

worth it?

clean title 169k miles
would be my gfs first car, i currently drive a second gen tC. i have an obsession for first gen xBs and have been looking for a cheap one for awhile now, but honestly have no idea what i'm doing
not looking for a super pristine one, looking for one that can handle someone learning how to drive

The Same

FYI. I bought Beck/Arnley fuel injectors. They are Denso parts repackaged and sold as a different brand.

Maintenance required but oil level is fine?

As title says, the maintenance required light thingy flashes every time i turn the car on before starting the engine but the oil level is near the full mark (last got it changed in april and haven't used the car all that much). Did the mechanic just forget to reset it?

Insanely uncomfortable ride

Hi! I have a 2006 Scion xB and the ride is so awful I get anxious to drive. I’ve heard comments from those I’ve given rides to about how awful it sounds going over bumps lol. All of the front suspension is brand new, is this just how these cars are? Also has aftermarket wheels, 215/45R17 91W tires, I don’t know how much that would affect it. Not to mention, it really struggles with acceleration and vibration with the AC is on but I presume that is normal? This is my DREAM car I really want to love to drive it. I will accept all its flaws if I must.

My ride

05 xB purchased in October of 2004 when it was first availablr in my area. Repainted a few years ago & put in a new interior to match my Santa business. The badges on the side doors & the back hatch say "North Pole Edition" to match my Santa business. This is by far the most reliable car I have ever owned! 22 years as a daily driver & it's only needed routine maintenance. I've had Mustangs, Chargers & other high performance cars but this little sewing machine engine just keeps running!

Almost 200K 🎉

I'm looking forward to getting a 200K miles sticker 😁

2010 Sizzling Crimson Mica. OEM suspension, bushing and manual transmission/clutch. Besides consumables, replaced only one rear caliper. B12 piston soak last year. Drives like new. 👏😍

Fresh off the boat from Japan

Just took delivery of my 2001 Toyota bB. About 55k miles and the interior is perfect. I have a little bit of work to do polishing up the roof and hood as well as replacing a window sill and the roof drip seals (ordered both) but other than those it is in fantastic condition!

I have waned this car since high school and I’m so happy I found one for such a great price.

Fair price for 2012 Xb?

Hello, i'm looking to get my first car and my uncle has a 2012 Xb for sale for 2.8k. It has around 160k miles and is a salvaje title from a hit around the front bumper. My other uncle thinks 2.8k is too much and I should explore other options because the xb suffers from burning oil and suspensions problems apparently , does anyone have insight on if it's a fair deal considering the problem? Thank you

Evap system trouble codes

I forget the code numbers but I get the slow/fast leaks in the evaporative system codes which turns on the engine trouble light. It resets by disconnecting the battery but comes back at random times - might be a week or the next day. No driveabilty issues, though. Any suggestions as to what to check first?

Considering a first Gen xB; how much bigger is the xB compared to the xA? Also, does the 1.5 engine in the xB return less MPGs due to it being bigger and heavier than the xA?

My first two pics VS most recent pics with my Green XB! The difference is crazy.

Yup! We’re both 06 babies.

The car is my day one. That is me on the way home from the hospital after literally being born.

I don’t know if I can ever get another car.
