I and my husband are excited to visit Scotland, this will be our 🍯 🌙 . We will be travelling from Canada as first time visitors. Below is our itinerary:

Days 1 & 2: Edinburgh
Day 3: Edinburgh → Glencoe — mainly taking our time with scenic stops along the route and staying overnight in Glencoe
Day 4: Glencoe → Isle of Skye — scenic drive and exploring along the way
Day 5: Full day on Skye
Day 6 (Oct 8): Skye → Inverness — transfer day with sightseeing/stops along the way; Night Fly from Inverness → London, then 2 nights & 3 days in London

So I’ve managed to line up a work trip with an existing holiday in November, except I’ve got a free weekend in the middle. Itinerary is that I finish up in Oban at lunchtime on Friday the 13th, and need to be in Edinburgh on the evening of Tuesday the 17th.

So my plan is to get the train back to Glasgow, pick up a hire car and go somewhere. Thinking cottage in a small village, possibly up towards Loch Lomond - but looking for recommendations!

Not necessarily looking to do much sightseeing, happy to just to find somewhere cozy for a quiet few days. I am a huge textile craft/weaving nerd, so any mills or similar would be great.

Other complication is I have to be online for work all of the Tuesday - my plan was to find somewhere with good wifi and just book it for the Tuesday night as well, as I won’t be able to check out till 5pm. Then drive back to Glasgow, drop the hire car and get the train over to Edinburgh.

Any suggestions/recommendations for villages or even cottages, or ways I can make this easier for myself?

Hey, I'm gonna be staying between the 19th to the 25th, I didn't choose a place yet and I'm contemplating between Edinburgh and dunkeld/perith

I want to see nature/autumn colors and I'm without a car, so im not sure which option is better for me

Any suggestions?

My brother and I are interested in going to Scotland with a special interest in the Hebrides and Orkney Islands. I took Rick Steves guide out of the library and was disappointed to see that the Isle of Lewis was barely a footnote. Can anyone recommend their favorites?

We will be in Scotland during the last week of October (8 or 9 days).
Excluding Edinburgh, Isle of Skye and Glasgow - which driving routes do you guys recommend?

I would like lots of opportunities for scenic photos, and I want to hit Oban and Inverness, and I have a few other spots to plan around ...what's the best route that is NOT "well, all the tourists do it this way." ?

I am especially looking for advice on the Highlands portion:
- What are the must-see scenic stops/routes between Glencoe and Skye?
-Any great pubs, cafés or places for food along that route?
-Any alternative/scenic route you’d recommend?
We’re planning to drive and not take skye ferry — any tips or things we should know?
For Skye → Inverness, are there any must-see stops we shouldn’t miss?
If we get rain/fog or poor visibility, especially on the Skye → Inverness day as we have our flight to catch at 8:30 PM are there any routes/stops you’d recommend or avoid?
Any general driving tips for the Highlands in October?
Trying to make sure we’re prepared because I do see the weather is not the best on Oct 8th in Skye, dont want to miss beautiful stops however bit concerned as we need to drive to Inverness.
Would really appreciate any local tips or Plan B suggestions! Thanks! ❤️
