This sapphire was my first sub purchase and I'm thrilled with the way the setting turned out! Wish I could capture the beauty of the sapphire in photos, but it's not possible. Jim and Raeanna are truly awesome to work with! Can't wait to see my next set shiny, the peridot from Troy!

I’ve been quiet (new-job-busy! also got sick!) but I have made some time to grind. Lavender nanosital, 9mm, in a new design Freesia SP. I’m keeping this one, but I can remake it by commission!

Also got the upsetting news that Imgur has purged many of my old videos, so like half the links are broken in my laboriously curated spreadsheet of designs and cut synthetic examples sobsobsob.

I’ll slowly transition over to google drive, but it will take me several months. I’ll lose much of my older work that was taken on an older phone that wasn’t properly backed up.

It’s also total bullshit that Google caps storage at 200GB unless you get an AI bundle. Fuck off with that, I don’t need Gemini for anything! My email typos and not-corporate-zombie tone add character! Get off my lawn!!!

Sub Upate

Hello, everyone!

Due to an unfortunate mix-up, Jim and Rae have landed themselves in Reddit jail. They share devices and both used the spg-moderator account in addition to their own, and there was a whoopsie where they didn’t realize they were upvoting things on the sub here or there from more than one account linked to the same device. While they have appealed to the reddit gods for forgiveness, whether it will be granted remains to be seen.

Since they are not allowed to use reddit at this time, they have hired me (I am a long-time subreddit member and dragon) on to operate as their reddit manager for them. I will be posting Jim’s stones for sale and directing people to his business email as needed. We know it sucks to not be able to speak to him directly and are working on an off-reddit solution for this in the event that his account is not restored. Just know that he and Rae are watching without being able to interact, like friendly ghosts.

As a head’s up, tomorrow we will post a giveaway where previous subreddit or off-reddit buyers of the lapidaries can choose to opt-in to a new discord where Jim will hang out and discuss gems (the giveaway will be open to all, it will just also include the chance to opt-in). In the long run, we will open this up to all subreddit members (excluding other gemstone vendors besides our subreddit laps), but it will be open only to sub buyers at first. Keep an eye out tomorrow for that giveaway.

1.83ct, 7.56x6.27mm Montana Sapphire in a modified oval cut. Eye clean with slight silk flash, unknown heat $3300 + sh

Dimensions: 7.56 x 6.27mm
Weight: 1.83cts
Color: Bright, almost cornflower blue exactly with just a slightly bluer concentration. Very vibrant blue and it has a purple hue to it. It has a silk cloud in the table, but it is considered eye-clean. Very small naturals on the girdle. Jim thought it was part of a mix of heat and no heat parcel, so that is unknown but the silk cloud is a very strong indicator that it is unheated. It could be partially heated in the ground stones. That could only be determined by sending it to GIA for a full lab report.
Price: $3300
