I spent 6 months building this system, it a open source self-hosted platform to run web apps in an environment resembling standard operating systems.

Every time I wanted to build a small web tool, I ended up dealing with the same stuff: authentication, communication, WebSockets, ports, and infrastructure.

Even with Claude and Codex, I was still spending time on things that had nothing to do with the actual tool I wanted to build.

So I spent around 6 months building PhreshOS.

The idea was simple: build the infrastructure once, then use AI agents to build applications on top of it without having to deal with all that stuff again.

It's a self-hosted, open-source system with a web-based desktop where applications can run in windows, much like a regular OS. Authentication and two-way communication are already handled, so applications don't need to implement them separately.

Apps can also run in Node.js worker threads instead of each needing a separate Node.js process, which helps keep resource usage low. This makes it possible to run dozens of applications on a relatively small server.

Another thing I wanted was for AI agents to be able to use these applications directly. They can access application services and interact with the same state the desktop interface displays, without needing a separate interface built specifically for them.

The biggest benefit for me is that I can now sit down with an AI agent and build dozens of small applications in a single day, without setting up authentication, communication, or infrastructure for each one.

The whole project, including its packages, is open source under the MIT license.

I'd love to hear what you think, including criticism.

What are you working on?

A simple thread for builders, founders, developers, designers, and indie hackers.

What are you working on right now?

Share what you're building, what problem you're trying to solve, or even an idea that's still in its early stages. Doesn't have to be polished or launched.

Let's see what everyone is working on and maybe discover some interesting projects along the way.

11.6MB native PDF editor with AI. No subscription. No cloud upload.

I've been working on Arc PDF for quite a while, and one thing that kept bothering me was how complicated PDF software has become.

I just wanted a PDF editor that was fast, lightweight, and straightforward. Instead, most of the options I found came with huge downloads, subscriptions, cloud services, or features I never needed.

So I decided to build my own.

Arc PDF is a native macOS PDF editor, completely free, and designed to stay lightweight.

You can edit PDF text and images, annotate documents, organize pages, and use AI to understand and work with your PDFs.

No subscription. No account required. No uploading your documents to my server.

The AI currently works with your own API key, so you can choose the provider and model you want to use.

It's definitely not perfect, and I'm still actively working on it. But the goal is pretty simple: make a PDF app that doesn't feel like it needs to be a full office suite.

I know this is self-promotion, but I figured this might be one of the communities that gets why I built it.

Anyone else just want a PDF editor that lets you edit a PDF without all the extra baggage?

I built a discovery network and need SaaS founders to test it

https://www.agman.app/

I’ve been building AGMAN and the app is now live.

I need a few SaaS founders to register, add a real product and test the full flow.

I mainly want feedback on the listing process, categories, final profile and anything that feels confusing or missing.

Payments are also in test mode, so no real money is involved if you want to test that flow too.

If you have a SaaS and don’t mind testing an early product, try it here:

Tell me what’s broken or what you would change.

I built a persistent terminal "deck" that watches my machines over plain ssh and follows me from desktop to phone

Phosphor Deck is an open-source setup around zellij that turns one machine that stays on (the "brain") into a persistent terminal session: your other machines' health, their files, your notes and the TUIs you already use, in tabs laid out once from a single TOML profile. Leave from your desktop, open it on your phone, and you're exactly where you were.

What it does:

- **Fleet panel**: CPU, RAM, disks, containers, failed systemd units, pending (security) updates, SMART, CPU temperature. Read over plain ssh: nothing is installed on the watched machines, no agents, no daemons.

- **Your files**: every machine's disks show up as folders under `~/fleet` (rclone sftp mounts through your own ssh keys). Nothing is copied.

- **Any screen**: `deck` on another computer, a Termux kit for Android (scan a QR), or `ssh -t` from anything. It reconnects by itself, and a phone can get its own layout.

- **Notes from anywhere**: Alt-j from any tab, tagged with where you were. It can live in a folder you already sync (Obsidian, Syncthing).

- **Alerts**: a host going down or a disk failing pushes to your phone through ntfy (self-hostable), if you turn it on.

- **Browser access**: optional and off by default. Tailnet only (`tailscale serve`, never `funnel`), with a login token.

Install (no root, static binaries into `~/.local/bin`, then a wizard):

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/rsmedrano-cloud/phosphor-deck/main/install.sh | sh

Want to look first? `phosphor demo` runs it over made-up machines and a made-up notebook. That's what the video shows, so the hosts in it aren't real.

What it isn't: not a web dashboard, no telemetry, nothing listening by default.

Repo: https://github.com/rsmedrano-cloud/phosphor-deck

Manual: https://rsmedrano-cloud.github.io/phosphor-deck/

I'd love feedback, especially on what's confusing during the first install.

Link rot is real — I built a tool that saves a permanent copy so your saves never 404

Hey bookmark managers!

Pocket/Instapaper just save the URL. So if the site dies, your save dies.

So I built FetchMark: https://fetchmarkapp.com

What it does:

- Saves a clean, permanent copy in 1 click (browser extension)

- Full-text search across everything you saved

- AI summary + offline access

- public reading list

Stack: Next.js, Supabase, Puppeteer for archiving, small AI model for summaries.

I launched on TinyLaunch yesterday and we are currently #1.

If you save a lot of articles for work/research, I would love feedback. And if you have 5 seconds, an upvote would mean a lot to keep #1:

https://tinylaunch.com/launch/20299-fetchmark

Happy to answer any tech questions on how I handle paywall cleaning / archiving!

don’t drop your SaaS in the comments.

drop what you’re building 👇

SaaS, app, game, newsletter, weird side project, whatever.

but don’t just leave the link in the replies.

put it on the Moon.

every person gets exactly 1 permanent km, and your project can live on it.

59 km are already claimed.

I want to see what the next 41 people are building.
