Taking my cross to the range for the first time.

How long should I space my shots and what is the maximum I should fire at a time to protect the lightweight barrel?

Hey Yall hope all is well just bought a Cross 308. WC 16” I am waiting for the 10 day long wait to pick it up and wanted to get a scope for it now any recommendations I am working on a small budget for now maybe $200-$800 max but if it’s really worth possible do $1000. Thank you all
